Today I'm taking y'all on an adventure into the Colorado Rocky Mountains for one last motorcycle camping trip of the season! Fall is a great time to explore the mountains and enjoy some of the best motorcycle rides in Colorado.
I'm riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special in this video, courtesy of @harleydavidson. This is my first time riding an adventure bike! Be sure to watch the entire series to see my entire motorcycle trip!
Places we'll see:
🏔 Boreas Pass: This narrow, 22-mile unpaved, high mountain pass takes you over the continental divide in the footsteps of Colorado’s mining history. Boreas Pass was once a wagon road used during the Colorado Gold Rush. From 1872 to 1937, it served as the Nation’s Highest Narrow Gauge Railroad, and was even home to the nation's highest post office!
🏔 Buena Vista: This little mountain town in the Arkansas River Valley is near plenty of BLM land, making it a great destination for a night of dispersed motorcycle camping.
🏔 Independence Pass: Part of the Top of the Rockies Scenic & Historic Byway and one of 26 designated Scenic Byways in Colorado. This is one of the BEST motorcycle rides in Colorado!

I lived in Colorado for 15 years. I really do miss those mountain rides. Thanks for doing a great job on the video.. and now I'm going to have to put Colorado on my list in the summer to head back and do those mountain rides 1 more time

Rode your lovely Independence Pass last year end of August but started in Aspen. One of the comments here is absolutely true, can never go wrong with Colorado. Beautiful state.

My grandfather work for the Rio grand railroad out of Denver for 1914 to about 1968 we used to get to ride the trains up through the mountains for free. Hope to do a little bike riding this summer. I've spent quite a bit of time in the mountains but not on a motorcycle. Some of the most beautiful places in the US.

I really enjoy your content Staci and much respect for your independence and sense of adventure. I’m in Ontario, Canada and have done 6 rides in the Rockies with former work colleagues and friends. Independence Pass is my 2nd favourite road, after the Million Dollar Highway between Ouray and Durango. Keep following your dreams and ride safe! You’re an inspiration to many ! It's pretty cool! I'd say its fairly easy. Only one bumpy section. If you've ridden to Animas Forks from Silverton, it'll be a breeze lol enjoy!!!

Oh, my goodness, that video did my heart good! Those are my favorite rides and right out my backdoor, too! The pie in Leadville is to die for and the restaurants in Buena Vista (Bew-nah, if your from there!) are great as well. The fall riding is second to none, but the shorter days make it seem like I'm always racing the sun, because when it goes down, the Big Chill sets in! Thanks for showing what a great place Colorado is for motorcycles!

I love riding in Colorado been going there every year since 1991 The best state i think to ride in. I have rode in 49 of them so far, still need Hawaii. However I am a pizza snob and that was not a real pizza. Chicago Southside Tavern style is the best. Even better than Chicago deep dish. Great video. this summer bringing my XR650 to do the unpaved passes. My KTM 1290 is way too big for some of those knarley passses

I grew up in Bailey, and in my highschool/young adult days, I would always go exploring out around the SouthPark area. I always wanted to retire in Buena Vista. It was (maybe still is?) such a great little hub kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but also right in the middle of some really great parts of the state. I haven't lived in CO for ~15yrs, but your videos bring back some really great memories!

That will be awesome! You can take the West Elk Loop from Carbondale over to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and into Montrose. That'll be a beautiful ride!

Twenty years ago I lived in the tiny former ski village of Cuchara, Co in the south central Sangre de Cristo mountains. The view from Cordova Pass at over 11,000 ft is hard to beat. I still ride there once a year from Tucson. And oh, the food at The Cuchara Yacht Club ain't bad either!

The other good thing about those dehydrated dinners is they make you constipated so you don’t have to do the dirt business much while traveling. Obviously not good if you’re going for a few days, but pretty good for overnighted.
