Something I learned last year at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. If you read the label on the Folgers (I know, I normally don’t read directions either, but I was just sitting there...). It says something like, One teaspoon per 6oz of hot water. Makes a big difference in taste. Also, you can cut it with a packet of Swiss Miss.

The Corporal is living proof that a man can be content with only a bed, a fire, and some food; no "modern conveniences" required. (What a name, huh? "Modern conveniences." From what I've seen, that means the more modern, the less convenient) (Also, Corporal, ditch the Folgers and get some Medaglia d'Oro if you're going to stick with instant. It costs a bit more, but it's espresso, so you don't need to use as much, and it tastes better too. Not amazing, but much better)

I'm envious because I just had dental surgery yet I have all the fixings in my fridge. LOL. Just needed some onions. BTW - if you add a little wood ash and water into your pan it will act like soap with the fats in there to help clean your stuff. The ash saponifies the fat and will make soap. ~155F.

My tip for field cleaning a frying pan is this: Get it smoking hot, then dump a small amount of water in it, and swish it around. It'll steam up and flash boil in an instant. Dump water after swishing. All that should be left is a slightly damp, hot pan. Wipe out with cotton rag if needed.

Here's a request for a video: Having all the things you would need in an emergency situation to sustain for a few days, but looking as non-tactical as possible. One of the things that I wish people would understand about situations like those is when you stand out, you make yourself a target. My time in Afghanistan showed me how dangerous the unsuspecting person can be because they blended in. If I walk around LOOKING TACTICAL, my truck is plastered with all the coolest and latest tactical stickers - I've not only made myself a target, but I have made my Vehicle or "mobile command center" a target. So, your mission, should you accept; show us how to be as tactical as possible without looking tactical. CARRY ON!!

Almost everybody puts far to much instant coffee in their cup and then complains it's to bitter to drink it! If you're going to drink instant i recommend Nescafe single serve packets, they have several flavors to suit your taste. I myself prefer the Taster's choice because it's the closest to a fresh brewed cup of coffee i found of any instant coffee. The easiest way to zero in on your preference is to add one packet and taste it, add another packet and taste it until you hit perfection. I buy Nescafe Taster's choice single serve packets by the box from Amazon very cheap. Trust me, you really can fine-tune it into as close as you're going to get a cup of instant coffee to fresh brewed this way. I would really enjoy watching an episode where you try this method out if possible.
