Solo overnight in the UNF In this video I hiked to the highest elevation in during cold wintery weather . The goal of this trip was to test equipment and skills to survive cold wintry weather comfortably while hammock camping. I was able to get wet wood burning to cook and keep it going overnight. I was able to stay dry and warm overnight with only a basic sleeping system. If there's any gear in this video you have questions about please let me know in the comments. I hope my video can help you guys and give you a few ideas for your next adventure. Thanks for watching!

Q-tip or cotton ball and chap stick for fire starter or other type of cotton fluffy stuff ...Ridge line for tarp goes on top not under tarp just leave line on tarp for quicker setup ... Use Prussik's to put tarp on ridge line ...

A small stick wrapped/tied on the ridge line will divert the dripping before it runs into the hammock/tent/shelter tarp. (old boy scout trick)...

Oh yeah, definitely, I forgot before I went to sleep, some 550 cord did the trick for me. Would be a bad night waking up in a pool of water for sure. Thanks!!

Nice and cold wild camp! You might need a bigger bag ;)
@TRoysAdventures
@TRoysAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. This bag is multi-purpose. It's my emergency bag I always carry in my vehicle. When I decide to go camping I only strap on my sleeping bag and any extra food, it has MOLLE webbing all around. But yes I'd definitely use a 50L bag just for camping 👍

@@TRoysAdventures Good to train with the emergency bag! I can barely fit my stuff in an 85L (sleeping bag takes up a good portion). Tempted to get a 120L bag to fit even more "stuff"... just dont like strapping things to the outside. Gets wet and or torn up by brush in my experience.

@@ThePreparedNorseman I agree, it's always nice to keep everything inside. I guess it depends on your adventure with pack size. I'm looking at some nice Osprey packs myself. Love to have a couple different sizes.

@@TRoysAdventures Big factor i have realized from watching trough hikers here on YT is cost... If you got a whole lot of $$$ getting super light, compact and yet capable gear is very much doable. I can’t justify spending the money for a capable down sleeping bag that can handle a very wet coastal enviroment.

Would it be easier to upgrade your Tarp to a Tarp with Doors? Warbonnet Supper Fly or for UL the HG Winter Tarp with Doors

Its extremely hard to hear you. Not sure if you can adjust the volume in your editing program or maybe invest in an external mic. Good video tho. I do a camping trip up there every Nov with some buddies of mine.

Yes, I haven’t seen any signs saying otherwise. I do have a nice set of tree straps I use now when I go. I don’t camp camp near the OHV trails, it gets pretty wild this time of year. I like the trails near Ophir- jumping off rock, and Joe Moffitt trail heads. Enjoy!
