Rocket League is all about having fun. For some people, that's playing ranked in solo queue, while for others, that's having friends and playing in party queue. Some people wouldn't DARE to go into ranked without a friend, so they ONLY party queue. While others don't trust anyone and would rather take ranked on alone. Well who is better? My guess is the solo queuers, beacuse they have to do deal with bad teammates and adapt a lot more. but lets find out!

Kinda makes sense that in lower ranks solo q wins because higher up the party members are less confusing each other because they hit the ball more with intention and make plays. As a solo queue player who sometimes parties with a D1 mate to play in champ I notice it too. When its solo opponents , i can make a difference and create double commits for my mate to score. But when its a party who follow up each other well my mate is caught out of position more, which makes it messy and we both start playing faster then we can to try and keep up with the pressure. Not saying its just his fault, just saying we fall apart because there team is just better.

I find party way better and it makes logical sense for me at all rank. If a party has played for some time together they know each others game, weakness and strengths and rotations are generally better. When I solo q I generally win 30% of games max but when I party the win % is much higher and I played better too

As a 3s low gc1/high c3 I can confirm this is completely wrong. When you get higher up in the ranks you teammate generally know what to do most of the time and communications don’t affect the game as much, since rotations are more consistent.

I think most people overestimate the impact of comms in random ranked games. Most party players don't comm about the game at all, or often give poor calls that have a more negative than positive effect. The impact of habit is also probably overestimated, because if people play together all the time but don't pay attention, they might develop bad habits together which leads to a slower progression. Honestly, the real advantage of party queue is to dodge the toxicity/afk bullshit.

Me and my brother play in a party. We’re both about the same skill level and rank. We don’t talk a lot in comms other than for instructions and heads up warnings. It works very well for us.

As someone who is relatively new to Rocket League, I have some friends that are in Champion and Grand Champion rank that will play with me. I learned a looot while playing with them, but I seem to find that when I Solo Q I am able to limit test myself a bit more than playing against higher ranks. I've gotten to Diamond rank with only about 275 hours in Rocket League, which I contribute to both my friends helping me as well as the practice from adapting in Solo Q

through my experience as a solo queuer, it is a coin flip. you also learn to adapt to different types of players. i feel like i improve more alone that with a duo or party because partying up the gameplay is more textbook

honestly I noticed the biggest difference when I partied up with another soloq player after a very good game. The overall mentatlity even with a huge goal disadvantage or after a lost game seems cery good and much better than when I play with a friend who nearly exclusively parties with friends in ranked

What I'm saying though is that when you solo queue you go up against other solo queuers and when you are in a party you go against other parties and you lose more MMR per loss and gain less. It is clearly better to play with someone in comms and know they won't throw, but Psyonix has made it so you are punished for party queueing with anyone, not at your exact rank plus it's easier to go against other solo queuers. Party queueing is not as great as it looks at first glance. I wish I could just party queue and not be punished and go against solo queuers.

they take comms into account so it's only fair. But if you are higher up it doesn't always work that way since there may not be enough people queuing for the game to be picky with opponents. The party still loses more against the solo's though.

The thing about doing weird kickoffs like Ovi, is sometimes you get more control and power on contact. Speed flip kickoffs tend to be countered often by delayed kickoffs or just normal kickoffs with more direct contact.

My take on this is that the party queuers since they know each other’s weakness they may try to take over the ball at certain times, while the solo queuers just trust their teammate with what they’re doing.

I actually keep a mental tally of my win/loss ratio against parties and the losses are more likely to come when I’m facing a party. Either they just have way better chemistry or at least one of them is a smurf so makes sense.

people who always party up do a lot worse with randoms is what ive noticed, same the other way around. I mostly solo que but when i party up with someone who usually partys up we just dont play well because they expect me to know their playstyle, but since i mostly solo que i have to deal with adapting to my teammates playstyles every match. I would say partied up teams usually perform better in game but solo ques are usually better at the game

It really depends. What I've noticed is there is usually a ballchaser on the team and someone who is forced to be more responsible (sigh...) so as the person that tends to not just tunnel vision on the ball on my irl friends team, I tend to do better when im queued up solo because other people don't just blindly go for everything and cut rotations and generally suck balls on defense.

As a plat, I can confirm that power shots that are *"low diamond to champ"* happen a lot, but in your videos the plats playing are nervous and so they play worse.

Can confirm, it’s easy to flame the people in the video but it’s nice to see someone who realizes nerves are a thing, it’s why just because someone is ssl they aren’t in esports, sure they can have the same skills as someone in esports but if they can’t play consistently like that under huge pressure then that’s why they aren’t pro, works for any ranks, they deserve the rank they are in but they can’t play consistently under pressure

If you solo q in 3s then you can always expect to have a on level tm8 and his friend who is a whole 2-3 ranks below him that wants to be included in the rank grind. And the games are very hit or miss

I solo queue most of the time which works well, only downside I find is lack of understanding of how the other player attacks/defends etc. Plus people tend to play completely different once partied up compared to being just a random
