No need to apologize for not wanting to hold your iPad. The clamp on bracket looks like a great solution. They do make cases that allow you to lean the iPad in the case for hands free too. But that’s perfect for the tent.

You’re making the AC work harder by not using the air inside the tent. The air inside the tent is cooler than the outside air. So it doesn’t have the advantage it would have and will not cool down as much as it should be able to. It’s looking way more comfortable on this trip. Thumbs up 👍
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Ай бұрын
That’s the only problem with the WAVE 2 unit. They don’t have a way to keep the unit outside and still intake air from the tent like my BougeRV ac unit. I’d have to keep the WAVE 2 inside the tent with me and exhaust the hot air out, which I don’t want to do. Worked pretty well though for it having to work a little harder id say.
@tommieiler2811
@tommieiler2811 Ай бұрын
@@BrianWatersOutdoors I found a guy on Etsy that prints an adapter for the intake. It uses the large duct that comes with the Wave 2. I installed two marine ports in my tent. Not for the faint of heart to bore a 5 and 6 inch hole in your tent. But, it makes an easy install of the ducts.

Air mattress can never compete with memory foam when it comes to comfort. I can’t sleep on air mattresses, i use the better habitat camping 3” memory foam pads, very comfy. I’m old and need my memory foam 😂
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Ай бұрын
I agree, I don’t like full air mattresses. This is I guess a “hybrid”. There is foam in it, but you can air it up a bit to increase the firmness, or air it down to make it more soft. Pretty happy with it. Hest was another brand that a lot of people recommended too, but those are even more $$

I bought ecoflow wave adapters to 4” on Etsy and they all have broken either the tabs or they have split the plastic I keep forgetting to contact the builder to see if they will do anything. $30 some a piece and they broke the first week. Nice thing about using the 4” tubing vs direct vent for some reason the outlet temp on the chilled side is 4-5° colder.

If you try opening the opposite end of the tent a little you should get a positive pressure ventilation situation where it would push the hot air out. They use this in firefighting to push cool, clean air into a building to push the hot, toxic air out. Biggen fan involved, so I'm not sure how well it would work with a smaller fan/opening, but worth a shot. Your little frying pan is awesome! I switch all my pans out for ceramic ones like yours and I'll never use Teflon again. Teflon is nasty and peels and doesn't even come close to working as well. I'd love to enter your camping drawing, but I'm in WA and on the other side of the country from Ark. Although my cousin just moved there a while ago. Hmmm... 😉

👍. Thought the magnetic attachment for the hose was neat, until you mentioned the bug screening messing with airflow. Were you on shore power for the Wave 2? I've only done a couple of test runs of my Wave 2 in the driveway, and found the dryer hose with the crinkly aluminized interior restricted some airflow, so switched to a smooth interior flexible dust collector hose (3" dia). Much better airflow. Actual field test in late August hopefully.
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Ай бұрын
I was on shore power. I have the battery for the WAVE 2, but in reality it only gives me about 3 hours since I have to keep the unit on MAX cold until around 2 or 3 in the morning.
@retnav92
@retnav92 Ай бұрын
@@BrianWatersOutdoorsHave the battery also as a backup, more or less. No electrical hookups where I camp, so I ord'd the 15ft XT-150 cable from EF, and will run the Wave 2 off of an EF Delta 2.

Don’t you get tired of all the time it takes you to get set up/tear down especially in the heat? Just seems like a pain compared to camping in a topper!
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Ай бұрын
I thought that I would, but I think the setup and takedown gets easier every time you do it, and the benefits for me of the rooftop tent far outweighs the benefits of the topper. Just my opinion, but I prefer camping in the tent over the topper any day.

Brian, enjoy your videos and reviews. I know this is a hard question to answer with all of the variables out there in the wild, but which portable AC do you feel works the best on battery power? Ecoflow, Zero Breeze, BougeRV, etc?
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Ай бұрын
Pound for pound, I think you get the most BTUs out of the Ecoflow. It’s 5100 btu and at max cold it draws about 450 watts on MAX. The zero breeze and Bouge RV unit pull about the same amount on max power and they are less BTUs than the Ecoflow.
@jimmydsadventures4814
@jimmydsadventures4814 Ай бұрын
You needed a "4x4 tuck up and turn down" for your exhaust. It's cheaper than what you got (14 inches less pipe) better sound, and no chrome exhaust tip, as nobody can see your exhaust until it's cold and you blow big white clouds to the pavement that engulf the entire truck in condensation smoke.. ok I went to far
