Part 2 of my 2 day adventure on the West Rim Trail in PA. This is also know as the PA Grand Canyon because of the gorge that the Pine Creek cut out. This trail is a 30 mile point to point. Very beautiful vistas of the gorge.

Sounds like the gear is testing out great for you. It sure is nice to put gear away while under a tarp when it is raining. As long as it is not a full on downpour, this weather is not too bad to hike in for a short amount of time. Eventually, the rain gear wets through. Wet phone screen does become an issue when trying to record. You still managed to get it done and capture the beauty of the adventure well. Nice job on the cloud shot of the gorge. Beautiful. Thanks! Very nice packing up out of the rain. Rain gear is more of a warmth thing for me. After a short while it always wets out. Or you just sweat a lot and get soaked that way. Either way you will get wet on this ride.

I have to say that Dutchware quilted hammock is growing on me. I like how it's personalized and looks like it blends into the hammock Some a amazing shots and an extremely entertaining commentary session from the hammock. How your hair was all astray and you were packing laying down 😂😂😂 "man this is lazy". It was perfect for that kind of morning. I agree with all you said about the tarp and the hammock advantages. I remember on one of our first trips I saw your hammock system and knew I wanted to move on from the tent. Awesome cinematic quality per usual, and I dug the time lapse from above the canyon and how the clouds shifted. Spectacular video as usual. Beautiful and highly entertaining throughout. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thanks Dakota! The hammock was really nice. Now underquilt booking up, no adjustments at and no adjustments while in the hammock. But in warm weather you can’t move the underquilt to the side or vent it.

Nothing like sleeping in the rain. But hiking in it is another story. If it is raining when I wake up. I will always pack my top quilt in the stuff sack as I am lying down. I also switched to the platypus quick draw. Time to replace the Sawyer after all those years. Enjoy your hike.

Nothing wrong with starting the day with a good lounge in the hammock. Another great trip even with the rain moving in. The quilted hammock body isn't for me but I like that it's another option out there. It's always good to have another tool to choose from. You listed many of the reasons I still prefer a hammock over a tent 90% of the time. The uses of a tarp are why I carry a small light one on dayhikes. It's nice to have a place to get out of inclement weather.

The hammock was pretty neat. It has its use cases. I’m thinking that it would really be great for a beginner to hammocks since there is no under quilt hookup or adjustment.

Sweet time lapse of the valley clouds rolling about! Loving the hang time talk at camp! I agree about the tarp and have considered taking one on my trips with a tent. Mostly a poncho that lies flat so I can get at least a little bit more coverage even if it's not as much as a full tarp. Great end to the trip!

Another nice video. Packing your backpack lying down..perfect!!...now that's funny right there. There is something to be said about hiking in the rain, esp. if you're warm and comfy. I enjoy it at times. Hike on and hope to see you on the trail someday. Thanks!!

Chill video. Hammock looks comfy. Good point about having to replace everything if there's a tear. That flow rate on the Platypus is nice.

I’d rather be in a hammock under a tarp 9 out of 10 times in a rain storm. When I’m with tent campers they always come to my hammock area to hangout during rainstorms. lol. Sometimes I don’t put up my hammock up til bedtime so we can hangout under the tarp.

I agree! Much more versatile in my opinion. It’s not just comfortable to lay in but it’s comfortable overall for overall camp time. Tons of room and lounging opportunities.
