3 days in the high Sonoran desert carrying only what most day hikers would carry - a water bottle and energy bar.

Ants. Ants are the key to surviving anywhere (except the arctic circle). A virtually inexhaustible protein rich food source.

This is awesome, I've always been intrigued by survival and scouting, I'm 14 and have been scouting for 9 years, as well as my mum being in scouting for 15 years, my aunt for 27 years and my nan for 47. I've always somewhat been inspired by Bear Grylls, although he is an idiot from time to time, is love to meet my Chief Scout some day 😁

should your EDC not consist of more than this? I know I would *never* go ANYWHERE with just a water bottle and an energy bar. Just sitting here at my computer I know I have a folding knife, a multitool and a key set with two types of fire lighting on my person, my EDC consists of more, and when I go out on a 'walk' it expands even further.

If you are bitten the ideal thing to do is keep the bite wound below your heart. If its on your ankle, keep standing, maybe lean on something if you feel faint. Do not go to the nearest hospital, call an ambulance they will take you to the nearest hospital that's equipped to treat you, not all hospitals are. And yes, sucking out venom from a wound would not help. As for hot water, I honestly don't know, but the hot water thing DOES work for mosquito bites. I hope you never need to use this information, but its there in case.

Just a PSA to anybody wanting to come out to the Sonoran desert for an actual day hike, during the summer us natives recommend at LEAST 1 gallon of water per person hiking and even then bring extra. It’s hot without clouds out here and every year we pull hikers out for dehydration

Hawk eye thank you I appreciate your comments. Conquering the outdoors is so tough without a knife depending on the terrain but it can be done. I definitely recommend getting out there and trying. Good areas will be near creeks as they often have decent quality rocks that you can shape into cutting tools. Good luck mate

Great video (I know this is an old one)! A suggestion though, when your making a compressed video like this why not show a "time taken" stamp when working on a project when you show the final completion of it?
