What an experience! This has boosted my confidence a lot so I can take myself to more remote places in the near future! The video quality isn’t the best on this one but I will try and figure it out for future videos and bring the highest quality I can! Have a good one and enjoy the video😊

I remember well my first solo camp, over 60 years ago and still doing it at 76. The first 40 years are the worst, then you get used to it. 🤣🤣 We have a saying over here in NZ, "it takes two weeks to get your lungs and your legs" and that is doing it every day. My playground is the Tararua range in the North Island. It's 100ks long and 30ks wide and rises to 1600M. One can be alone for as long as you want, weeks at a time. Have just got back from a trip tonight, went up to 1200M and all in the forest, this is where the bush line ends and then it's alpine. Enjoyed the video ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😊😊

Nice! That sounds lovely!!! What is your communication device for emergency rescue in a remote area like that?
@tararuaman
@tararuaman 3 күн бұрын
@@Accurize2 A PLB, or a sat telephone. Once in the deep gorges it can be hard to pick up GPS sats. Even AM and FM radio is hard to pick up. You can forget about using cell phones, unless you're on the tops. Good navigation skills are needed. If you lose the track, or go off track, progress is down to 200 - 300 m an hour. Cheers 😀

I want to camp somewhere in the Lakes and that looks good. I worry about parking, can you park overnight in that car park? Good video like how you tell the story and make it real about the other campers and the farmer.
@JoeMadden.
@JoeMadden. 2 күн бұрын
Go for it! Technically it’s no overnight parking but I purchased two all day tickets just in case and made sure to set off late as possible and leave early doors. I appreciate your comment and support mate thank you😊

Well done on your first wild camp yes it is a learning curve and you did take an awful lot of stuff up there with you, but you look young enough and strong enough to carry it so that's up to you. I would recommend a chair you can get one that weighs round about 1 kilo, not sure about the car park though, most national trusts are no overnight camping, was it allowed? that I have never been there so don't know. Another great wildcamping spot is Angle Tarn. No car park needed you park on the main road
@JoeMadden.

Thank you for the recommendations! A camping chair is definitely on the list😅 I purchased two full day tickets and speaking to the staff in the morning they didn’t seem to mind because I paid. Learning more and more each trip!

Great video! I'm hoping to do my first solo wild camp at the Lake District next month. How easy was it find parking near a good trail?
@JoeMadden.
@JoeMadden. 2 күн бұрын
Brilliant mate, best thing you can do for your mental and physical health in my opinion! Parking is normally never an issue if you research around where you’re planning to go. Getting next to other camper vans/camping is a bonus because you feel a bit safer knowing your car is with others. Let me know how you get on😊

Reference what you were saying about pack size and weight, I use a 26 litre day sack and manage to wild camp for three days and two nights in the mountains, as you said it’s a learning curve. I’ve attached the link to a video I did of the kit I use. We know the Langdale valley extremely well as we’ve hiked every summit there and it’s our favourite place in the LDNP. Subbed to your channel too. 😊 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJipnryTlbHLoJc.htmlsi=4sP0s3X0ZXQCIbmx
