Nice outing Marty! It was a slow start, but the winter so far has been brutally cold. We've buried beers by the vehicle and enjoyed then at the end of a winter trip. Winter trips can be tough, but thoroughly enjoyable too!

Great Video! Just my thoughts: Fire littlebit closer to the shelter, a kind of reflector opposite the fire and closed shelter edges. I think this would improve much.

Down here in North Carolina fat wood is also called fat-lighter and lighter-wood. I’m originally from northern NY and Vermont so I’m no stranger to camping in extreme conditions. You always make the coolest shelters and I’m constantly learning from you. My dad used to make quinzhees and igloos with me when I was a kid. Thank you.

Aso if you build up the two sides so wind can not pass by. It will trap warm air for sure.

That was a really enjoyable video to watch! The lowest temperature I slept in was -25C, but without fire. It was “interesting” ;) Also pretty impressive you managed to film anything at all without the camera’s battery freezing!
@martymorissette
@martymorissette 2 жыл бұрын
yeah it's a struggle for sure!!! what I do is I slap a few tow warmers on my camera/phone and when i am not shooting I keep it on my skin. Also, once the fire is started, I keep the tripod close enough that it's not that cold for it. And yeah sleeping without a fire is very much doable, just a different experience!

i see you chop off branches at camp, smart to use them later for the fire.
