Most likely the jackery is way below its discharge temperature range. I would recommend in the winter to enclose and insulate the battery. Lithiums like to run and charge above 32f. You can also ring the battery up into the tent or inside the cab to avoid issues.

i had the same exact issue with my heater several times. First, the jackery got too cold so it didn't want to power up anymore after shutting down when it was 17 deg outside. I started bringing the jackery into the tent to keep it warmer and extended the wiring to allow that. Then I kept getting a low voltage issue and found out that the wire gauge was too thin, resulting in too much voltage drop from the jackery to the heater. Hope this helps
@ThatGuyTravels
@ThatGuyTravels Жыл бұрын
Longer wire requires a thicker gauge wire cause the thinner causes too much resistance. There's a whole science but that is the quick way to explain.

Having conversations with Jackery support right now. Just got my e1000 and it doesn't get either of my diesel heaters going. They're pulling around 37 watts then powers down. Just ordered 14 gauge 12 volt plug. 8 feet instead of this long thin one that came with my heaters (Vevor and hcalery). If that doesn't fix the issue I'm returning my Jackery. Getting a little frustrated since my heater worked great off my Land Rover battery
@TheSenorChavez
@TheSenorChavez Жыл бұрын
@@stlswagger I may have a solution, you might purchase a DC to AC inverter. I purchased an Ecoflow Delta 2 and realized that the DC port might not be enough to power the diesel during ignition. My Hcalory uses about 190 watts during ignition and then drops to 8 watts during regular run time. Thus, I purchased a DC to AC inverter and now I plug it into the AC port, viola, I don't have to worry about the DC. IMHO, the EcoFlow Delta 2 is going to be a better overall unit than the Jackary. I'm also very happy with the Hcalory. I hope this helps.
@stlswagger
@stlswagger Жыл бұрын
@@TheSenorChavez it does help and I just ordered one on Amazon. Looses some efficiency though after reading about it. I really like the ecoflow units since you can run them in parallel. This experiment seems like a good excuse to return it though and go with one of the other brand. Was kind of hard to pass up the Jackery 1000 explorer. Got it on sale with some discounts for $799. First time it was cheaper than he eco...
@liesejunh

This. Another possible solution is to bring a pelican case big enough to house the jackery in and run it from inside the case. The battery will heat up as it discharges and the case will trap the heat inside. You obviously do not want to do this if it’s hot because you run the risk of overheating but in the winter for just a diesel heater it’ll be fine.
@Kintarothewolf
@Kintarothewolf Жыл бұрын
voltage drop is common when running in the cold and using the 12v cig adapters to use the jackery outlet, i found this out this weekend at johnson valley. i found with my set up i used 18 guage wire about 13 feet. i had a 1.5v drop to around 11.4V. i rewired with 12 guage and the disel heater gave me a reading of 13.1v after words. you can monitor the voltage on the heater itself to see what voltage its getting while heating up and operating.
@malifestro3319
@malifestro3319 Жыл бұрын
This right here! @ed ☝Wire length, wire gauge, cold voltage droop on the battery. Ed you could consider swapping the cable, pre-write up a heavy guage 'run' wire from where your jackery will normally be to where you want your outlet. Good luck, and congrats on the new family member!
@Fei8lo
@Fei8lo Жыл бұрын
Jackery outlet should be regulated so likely voltage drop when the glow plug is running and pulling 10A to restart the heater. Running the heater at full will also keep the heater from cycling and needing the glow plug after initial ramp up.

That's a sweet set up! I wish these tent companies would make their side panels zip completely out, so that the end user could install a heater panel- basically a replacement panel that has a dedicated hole in which to put the heater (or ac?) tube... Like what military General Purpose tents have. Or the tent company could simply have these HVAC ports as an option...

I been running a diesel heater for 3 years with no issues. Early on when I was playing with my heater with that code. It was due to small gauge wire especially if you extended it. I would start going to something like a 14 or 12 gauge wire. Also I would look into moving the controller inside as it isn't waterproof unit.

Happy New years dude! There's a bunch of really active Chinese diesel heater groups on Facebook, I bet they can help diagnose. Also since u travel to different places alot have u looked into the altitude adjustment? This has nothing to do with the voltage issue, but u can adjust the air fuel ratio depending on altitude so that the heater burns cleaner and doesn't clog up over time.

@KrokemOutdoors you shouldn't need any diesel additive until it's less than 10 degrees Fahrenheit. My rebel is an ecodiesel and I've used a few diesel heaters as well. Normally if you are in a climate where the temps may gel the fuel they should be selling winter blend diesel anyway. Just an fyi. And, the heater tank is above the heater so it will keep the fuel warm at night as well.

Make sure the jackery doesn't have a timer on it for shutting down the plugs after say 12 hours or so some do. They are pretty funny about voltage so its possible that just from moving around while sleeping the plug going into the jackery wiggled JUST enough to cause it to shut off the plugs are kinda junk. Take the cover off the heater and see if there is enough fuel getting to it when it was low like that. What may happen is it's low enough on fuel to stop running then start back up again as a default of the heater and then errors out the jackery cause it starts back up right away to many times. Also with the cover off and it running just grab the wires and the plug that goes to the heater itself and jiggle it sometimes the plugs are really bad and are loose and any wiggle while sleeping and it looses contact and shuts off giving that code. All in all just run it at your house for 13 hours and see if it shuts off. How low was the fuel level in that tank and how many liters is it? That if it's just above where the fuel line comes out that seems like it uses a lot of fuel on a low setting. For reference my 5K all in one uses will run for 24 hours on medium. Hope that helps.

But I’d check for a timer on it first OR maybe I timer on the heater itself is turned on? Some of them have a setting that I THINK be programmed to only run for so many hours and the books are all really had to read unles you can read Chinese or something other then English lol.

Happy New Years Ed!! How do you like your Rebel? Have you had any problems with it or has it been a solid truck?
@KrokemOutdoors
@KrokemOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Happy New Years Steven! I love the Rebel so far, but it does have its quirks/issues. So far, I had a power steering failure issue, and just received a recall notice for the tailgate latch, that I have to take in to the dealer for. But lately, it seems like all companies are having their fair share of problems , including the new gen Toyota tundra. At the end of the day, we have to account for these issues and risks, and choose the vehicle that suits us the best, as well as putting that smile on your face .

Did you have to break in the diesel heater? I've run mine for at least 5 hours so far and I've been trying to get rid of this "plastic" smell it emits. Upon initial use it filled my tent with that smell and I vented it out and opted for my buddy heater instead, since I didnt want to be breathing any potential toxins from the air from the heater. Let me know if you had this issue. Maybe I just need to run it more.

It’s been awhile since I had come across one of your videos. Some great content for sure, I was wondering if you could share some detail about the rear bumper swing out on the RAM.

Looks like a good solo getaway trip. The Google (generically) says that diesel heater error ER-01 is low voltage from the power supply. I use Power Service to treat the diesel fuel in the winter for my Ford. It not only helps with anti-gel, but also ups the cetane value. Although I don't really know how much the cetane will help a diesel heater, maybe it will help it burn cleaner and reduce clogging it up when ran on low for extended times? .
@KrokemOutdoors
@KrokemOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it might’ve been low diesel fuel that made it malfunction, but the details for that code is throwing me off. I’ll take it apart and check all the connections soon. Have been getting a ton of great suggestions for diesel additive, and I’ll take a look into yours as well. Thanks Craig !
