Let's just take 3 strings in one position to start working through these chord changes. This will really help you see and hear this stuff better I think.
There's so much you can do with this. And it's amazing practice!
Thanks always!

Even when I know the chord shapes, scales, arpeggios, & double stops, it’s the style you use with them that teaches me more. Hence the likes, subs & tip that we can’t afford to ignore if we want lessons like this to keep coming. Thanks GT.

Its incredible everyone. I have played 45 years and just 5-years ago I discovered Guthrie. Now all I see is chord tones / shapes. Before I made a sound, now I think I understand what I am doing. Guthries practical approach is totally priceless. I need a bit of surgical maintenance on the hands but shit I think I now get it. Dont underestimate what GT is telling us. IT IS GOLD!

The cool thing is that it’s not even just about “breaking it down to 3 strings”. I think it’s a very common belief among beginners that you have to use all six strings when playing chords etc. There is so much more power in using triads (3-string) and 2-string chords or “double stops”. They almost always do more to serve the song. “Less is more” is commonly said, but it is so true. 👍

Hi Guthrie, your previous lesson 5 days ago in A is an absolutely top class material with those B.B. King style phrasings. I will spend some time on that for sure, thank you! You and Jack Ruch are both tasteful, very alike slow blues players and teachers in my opinion, it would be a pleasure to see the two of you play the blues together.

As simple as thus appears to be, it is totally incredible. Music comes from listening, experience and creativity but this is the HOW! F***ng brlliant. I dont want to learn from a teacher, I want to learn from a proper musician and guitarist. The real deal. Artistworks is brilliant but from the video exchanges. I lost it but am now totally re-inspired. THNAK YOU

Your lesson on blues over A totally clicked. Yes... I understood hitting the money notes over the chords and was trying that... but after 40 years playing around with this instrument something clicked during that lesson. I think it was not only hitting the chord tones, I was doing that but the notes before and after the money tones also. Thank you so much.

Great stuff, GT. I really like hearing your melodious playing when all you're doing is improvising. I try to do the same when I'm practicing. Still, I'm always inspired by hearing you! What you're teaching today is not new to me, but having you explain it in a different way helps to "cement" it in my mind. I wish I had friends like you! It'd be awesome to spend time together with ya, but I sure can't afford the "immersion experience," lol. If we were friends (like I'm sure we would be if we met, cuz you'd like me as well), I wouldn't have to pay to spend time together, y'know?! At least, I'd hope not! Stay frosty! 👍 👌 🤪 PS, Have fun with Dennis. He's another guy I think I'd be friends with, if only we traveled in the same circles. Maybe I need to move to Nashville?
