as a younger man I feel so bad for all the young boys being raised on ipads, iphones and videogames...the life experience and confidence instilled in a young man from trips like this with a father is absolutely priceless

For sure. There's no problem bringing electronics of any kind into the park. The one I used on that trip runs of 6AAA batteries. Worked fantastic.

It's awesome - amazingly light for a 4 man tent. BUT it's very fragile, especially the mesh and zippers. You really need to baby it.

Hi Kevin, when I'm fishing with jigs/plastic for walleye or bass I don't use a leader. If I'm pulling cranks for walleye typically I run a 2-3' section of 17-30lb fluoro off my braid to a small cross lock snap. When I'm casting or trolling for pike I use 12" titanium leaders. For lighter baits or topwaters I use single strand 20lb titanium leaders. For general use it's 12" multi strand 60lb titanium.

There is only one size Tite Lok clamp on rod holder, model 5610, although there are slight variations on the size of the clamp. They all work, but this is the one I use: www.titelok.com/product-p/rh-5615.htm

Worth mentioning you must use a small block of wood on both the inside and outside of your boat when using this clamp, especially with thin fragile kevlar.

JC R I will be going to quetico in May around Memorial Day for a 10 day trip. My favorite lure pattern is fire tiger if that helps you. Any lure that looks like a perch.

Sorry about the very late reply! The only "swivel" of any kind I use is a titanium leader when trolling/casting for pike. Id use small cross lock snaps on the business end of my line when trolling cranks for walleye. What are my favorite lures? Man, that would entail a pretty long reply. You'd best email me directly. Contact info is on my website at www.canadafishingguide.net For an anchor that's easy. But a replacement landing net mesh, or a basketbell net and tie off the end. Run a light rope through the top, pop in a nice round rock and you have an instant anchor.

Both large pike my son caught swam away strongly although the second took some time to revive. With high surface water temps in the middle of July that's not surprising. You do the best that you can...

@@CanadaFishingGuide can you tell me was the lake Wink that you caught the big pike and multiple walleye? You can delete my message after telling me or if you don't want to tell me that's cool also. I have paddled over 2500 miles in BWCA and mostly Quetico. In my heart of hearts I dream of big pike. Caught them in Alaska near Mt McKinley. I know they exist in Yukon River tributaries/Land Of the Midnight Sun Trophy Pike Adventures.

Hi Tim, typically when I'm trolling in a canoe the bow paddler only paddles if we're facing a headwind or if a correction stroke needs to be made. Most often its just me paddling at the stern. So to answer your question not really all that fast. Exact speed? Couldn't really say, but in general just fast enough for the lures to perform correctly. That means something different depending on the lure. I'll troll a spoon much slower than a deep diving crankbait for example.
