Antonio TheCanCracka Solskjaer didn't play with DeGea. I was expecting him to pick Schmeichel but I've been thinking it's probably because in Solskjaer's first season at ManUtd we had some heavy defeats like losing 5-0 to Newcastle and 6-3 to Southampton etc...even the treble season we conceded 20 more than Arsenal did in the PL (although scored 21 more than they did) and we conceded a lot in the champions league as well (Again we also scored loads). Then we had the likes of Bosnich, Tiabi who weren't good, we he had Barthez for a few years who we thought would be quality and was good in his first season bar the odd strange error, terrible in his 2nd season and ok in his 3rd and also Solskjaer scored against Schmeichel both when Peter played for Man City and Aston Villa, VanDerSar was the best goalkeeper after Schmeichel, we very rarely conceded more than 1 goal in any competition in 2006/07, conceded 27 PL goals which was less than many of Solskjaer's other ManUtd seasons so these are probably the reasons he chose Van Der Sar over Schmeichel.

thats tough with the goalkeepers. schmeichel made the big saves but van der sar made the saves consistently. probably safest pair of hands ive ever seen. i can remember seeing him drop the ball once. thats it. i remember when people were talking about cech being the best keeper in the league and im sitting here thinking the things cech is parrying away van der sar is catching. id have to give it to schmeichel but only just. its so close.

The point of playing as a winger is mainly to cross and do the job as a center midfielder would have done. Ronaldo can't play long balls, he rarely crosses. Ronaldo can cut in, do skills shoot, Finnish, free kicks. Yes he is amazing, but i see him more as a center forward than a midfielder. Because in the midfield you provide the goals, like giggs and Beckham did.
