@@ify105 Usually music in structured in roughly even lengths. For example 4 bars + 4 bars + 4 bars +4 bars. The sneaky bar is about playing with peoples expectations. So you can have the chorus drop 1 bar late, for example. Disclosure does this a lot.

Thanks for the sub! Most artists don't talk about the newbie stuff as much i'm afraid. Regarding sidechain just send your kick signal to the input of any other signal (input on compressor) like the bass/synth. Pull down the theshold till you see some gain reduction, then dial in attack/release till it pumps in a way that sounds good

He did something extra complicated due to UAD not syncing. Just try a using a very short kick sample with the same pattern as your kick.
