Guys, here are a few extra tips to look out for before you go ahead with the solution proposed in the video: - If you see the error 'no fixed disks to show' then, if it is a desktop, make sure that your hard disk is properly connected to the motherboard and there are no loose cables. Generally, if this is okay, your BIOS/UEFI settings will show you the model number of your hard disk drive. If this is the case and you still see the same error, try flipping the value of SATA mode from AHCI to IDE or vice versa and try again. If you still see this error and you are damn sure that your hard disk alright, then your version of diskpart is pretty old and you should try to create a recovery media or use a recent Windows Installation Media, OR, you can follow: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ochlaqubvK3Rlok.html to create a bootable recovery media on your own, using a working PC - If you see the error "MSR and EFI Partitions Are Only Supported on GPT Disks", then your Windows installation is most likely in Legacy mode and you should follow: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sL6ji7GLrbinaIk.html - If you face the problem "Virtual disk service error: there is not enough usable space for this operation", then you should follow: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osymbLiKz9i0mIU.html - If you see in the output for 'list vol' that your partitions are being shown as RAW, then you should try running chkdsk on the drive letter after exiting diskpart. If that also fails, then it is likely that your filesystem is very badly damaged and you'll need to get a new hard disk and salvage whatever you can from the existing one later. - If you are still having trouble and you notice that your recovery partition and recovery image are intact, you can use dism to flash it back (like a factory reset, without loosing data). Problems or error messages? DO NOT SKIP OR TURN OFF ANNOTATIONS. Those of you having problems because there is no room to create a new partition, because most common pc users have one drive, and it has no free space it is all tied up in partitions and the computer came that way. If you turn off annotations you are missing key information to this process, optional information this user was kind enough to put in annotation for specific user situations or common problems you run into. ALONG with the video itself. Upvote this so people see it right away - it might save people some googling and confusion if they see this first.

To begin with I have a Asus ROG G752 laptop, for some reason I heard it was a good idea to change the number of processes and memory to max in BOOT advanced options. Well it wasnt such a good idea cause when I rebooted I got a unrecoverable BSOD. I cant lose any data on this machine it is/was my sons, who has recently passed (in my profile pic). It has hundreds of pictures and video of him that are not backed up anywhere else. I dont even know if there is a easier fix than this but Please if you can help me I have tried almost everything else I can think of. I get the error of not enough usable space & have 5 partitions 1 system 250mb 1024kb offset 2 reserved 16mb 261mb offset 3 primary 371gb 277mb offset 4 recovery 499mb 372gb offset 5 primary 558gb 372gb offset I'm unsure of which to choose and not lose data Thank You !

Requirements: alternate pc , 16gb pendrive, external hard disk with needed amount. 1.Simply download ubuntu.iso and rufus.exe ( later download windows os if needed) 2.Create ubuntu bootable usb or dvd with using rufus 3. Insert pendrive in affected pc.. and start pc via usb ( when company logo appears press f2 and it will guide you to go. In sony vaio press assist button instead of power button.. and select 'start with usb/dvd) 4. Click 'Try ubuntu' 5. Insert external hard disk and copy every data except windows os partition in a external hard disk 6. Shut down pc and then power on go to troubleshoot page and wipe/erase everything by clickng reset. 7. Then.. see if the problem fixed. If didint , create bootable usb with windows os and install it and now it will be clean and neat.. 8.Thats it. ( note : if u didnt have alternate pc, do it with your android phone for downloading ubuntu.iso.. and create bootable usb with etchdroid android app.. but windows os bootable creation is not possible with android app) No need to worry about windows key.. as it will be safely saved by bios if your pc is recent.

Deborah Ubina Then without physical access, I may not be able to help you. Try creating a bootable USB using rufus (rufus.akeo.ie/) and Win8 iso and then try selecting USB instead of CD/DVD

Nehal! Now the situation seems to be another. The machine starts normally. When I try to refresh with a bootable ISO image of Windows 10in the case single language Portuguese Brazil, build 1511 or even Windows 10 build 10240, option restore the PC, keep the files as well as the option to delete all have the message: "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the unit and try again" Remembering that have done the procedure in this video when obtaining the error in BCD. Grateful for your attention

Thanks so much! After messing with 'diskpart' and other methods for couple of hours I came upon your video. This helped me fix windows 10 '0x000000d'. However, When I did "bootrec /fixboot" I got the "element not found" , but did the rest anyways (unlike my prior attempts where I tried to find a fix for that), and that did work. Saved me from having to reinstall windows on a different drive to recover my data from the current. My drive/volume was all 'locked' up and it was on Raid. I think reformatting and recopying the files on to 'System' partition is what fixed the issue for me. Thanks again!

Just wanted to say "THANKS" you saved my Windows 10 Install. Since the anniversary update Next day I was LOCKED out of my hard drive and Windows 10. I was able to access the files from another computer(Laptop) but it would only boot to a black screen flashing cursor. When I tried the W10 repair it said the drive was locked. I followed the instructions on your video, BUT I could NOT create the partition as you did ... It was saying it needed converting to GPF in order to create the EFI partion. I noticed you after creating the partition you created the EFI/Microsoft folder in your created partition. Since I couldn't create the partition I just created the FOLDER on my C:\ Drive. I then followed the rest of your instructions on how to create the boot records, and Wa La my Windows 10 BOOTED. It was something I hadn't seen in 5 days, AND i had resigned myself to using W7 again. MAYBE this will work for someone else which is why I'm posting this rather lengthy comment ... ANYWAY Thanks for the help (Thumbs Up) :o)

Impressive. Straight to the point, problem solved! I already had a EUFI partition in place but seems like it was corrupt after re-imaging the drive and I would get (Error: Could not open the BCD template store. Status = [c000000f]). So I just reformatted it over just like shown in the video to FAT32 and then I was able to fixboot/fixmbr. Also, I guess my Windows partition was not "C:" so I had to go back and assign it the proper letter in order for the 'bcdboot' to successfully create files. And then it just worked as shown. Thank you Nehal!

Holy crap dude! That was awesome!! This works great if your BCD is messed up. if the partition already exists but the boot process is messed up. No need to format, but rather assign the partition a letter, and just do the boot fix instead!! What a great video! worked great. Thank you!

if you're like me and ended up with over 20 partitions because computers are hard, cleaning the disk where windows is installed might be your best option. you lose any files/partitions you may have had on the drive which believes me sucks. However you do get to use your PC again despite these overall problems.

The disk 0 is invalid there is no other option Plz tell this problems solutions

Could not format (fat32) because the volume is too large. It could format as ntfs but could not install windows if efi is formatted as ntfs the disc is 111 gb

diskpart >create partition efi no usable free extent could be found .it may be that theres insufficient free space to create partittion at the specified size and ofset .the disk contain 4 primaru partition (no more partition may be created ) or 3 primary a and 1 extendend partition ) pls help

Drive c tends to have problems more than others (d,for example),so it may be easier to just manually move all software to d,or another drive,to fix your problem. WARNING: This effect is only temporary for a few days while you get the the root of the problem.from my knowledge,keeping system32 in drives other than c/your main drive easily corrupts the drive.

Thanks. I deleted my 100mb bootmgr partition on Win 10. Freezes/Hangs load system page. This fixed part of it, the run startup repair and your windows should boot normally.
