It's a bit of a Michymash video this week. The big dump of snow kinda steered me away from the cliff this past week, so I opted to stay home and work on other things.
We've been skiing lots around our property (now that we have snow!), and that has been super fun. I even made Southgate come one day! 🤣. Ploughing the driveway with the bobcat, but it also has its own set of problems that need solving this week.
The roof has been leaking a little bit again - hoping to solve that problem this spring/early summer. (again 🤨).
Then my main project was a little dog food cabinet to house two new containers I purchased recently. There are a few areas in the house that really need some attention, and this is one of them. Unfortunately I end up doing things kinda the hard way, instead of just picking a streamlined option, but this is just the way I am I suppose. I struggled along the way and decided to not finish it 'just to have it done for the video', as that would only add to my problems rather than add to solving them. So I will take the time needed to fix more of my mistakes and try and make it a cabinet that I don't hate. 🤞🏼😬
Speaking of solving problems though, I do have some updates on my 'allergies' - I am in the middle of doing some experiments, and am seeing some progress/change. I will share this in the next video (for those who are interested).
Anyway - this video was a struggle for me to put together. I almost just said forget it, for mentioned reasons, but I decided to suck it up, and show up for those who look forward to a video every week.
Thanks for watching and see you in the next one! 💕
M 💝

Michy, It makes me smile to see how much your two "L's" enjoy each other. Lenny and Luna are too cute together while his overall transformation after his many health ups and downs is a testament to your loving care. The transformation of your doggy infirmary and feeding room will also be worth the effort while you refine the design in a way that becomes both organized and eye pleasing.

I have a 10 plus year old Border Collie named Blue who is a rescue from Alberta . Blue crushed his right leg as a pup and the farmer had decided to either give him away or or take him out back , he chained him to the chicken coup ! ! I was contacted and we flew Blue to Ontario . I have had Blue 9 plus years and we are inseparable. When I saw your video of Steve cooking steak for “the clan “ I laughed and last night decided my rescue dog needed a pan fried steak ! I love your videos. Following your daily routine , the cabin build and the boat videos. Your commitment to your dogs and of course your cat backpack skiing , how crazy is that ? Truly wonderful.

Michelle, your videos never cease to amaze me. It’s not just your plethora of skills, verbal introspective glimpses of your thought process and a heaping dose of your furry kids; the sum of all these components and what you accomplish is incredible. Lenny has certainly come to life... You and Steve should consider adding exterior ice abatement wiring to reduce ice dams and potential leaks. Regarding the snow chute on the bobcat, is there any way to duct exhaust heat into the chute to stop the buildup of compact snow? I only have used 15-18 hp walk behind snow throwers but ducting exhaust into the snow chute eliminates that problem for our machines. Wishing you, Steve and your furry kids a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace princess.

It's a messterpiece. That's a compliment in case you were wondering. I like the cabinet with it's roughness but I think you're right, the draw does need to be framed to make it really pop. You've probably already sorted the allergy and we'll find out next week but after watching last week's video, I was going to suggest taking Lenny to Clifford and see if the allergies persist.... ie isolate you and Lenny together for a period of time.

Lenny and Luna playing in the snow, k, i, s-s, i,n,g! They are so loving playing and scrapping with each other in the snow. Who cares about finishing the pet food storage. When you make something out of bits and pieces, and you don't have precision cut wood, and square guides, it's always going to be off some amount. Keep at it, we don't care. We all just love seeing you build stuff, along with Steve and the pets. Southgate's "cat pack"... Now I've seen everything!!! I'll be telling my elderly mother tomorrow night about your latest cat pack in the snow. They used to have 2 Burmans, so adore "fluff-bum" cats. Great work on the Bobcat snow combine-harvester. Next time it blocks, get out the jug/kettle and heat up a gallon or 2 of water to thaw the snow. It'll be faster than digging the sticky spring snow! The wiper fuse is likely to have blown when the snow stalled the wiper blade from being able to wipe the snow from the door screen. Have a blessed week. Cheers from me in NZL, David ❤❤

I acknowledge your effort on doing things right away with the materials available at that time. I will not say the project would have required more planning time but i would rather see it as "rapid prototyping". And as for every prototype you have to go through some "evolution stages". Hi , ❤ the dogs 🐕 playing together, amazing scenery, 😂, the draw runners 🏃 😂, have to be dead parallel, if the draw is smaller/larger at the back it will bind, and stop it from closing properly, even if not parallel in height , if you make a spacer the same height for each side, , you are doing a great job considering the tools you’ve got, I was watching 👀 a program on luxury properties, a few months ago, A couple had brought a property of somewhere with serious snow, this was a holiday home, in the millions, And the day before they go to the holiday home, they can send a signal, to a device, and all the driveway itself of snow by melting, it has under ground heating, just a thought, 😂😂😂, Look forward to seeing the finished product , good luck,

Clyde's antics never fail to make me chuckle! That wait on the trail for me was adorable. Michelle, a thought on those drawer edges, have anything to cap them with that will fit into the accents of the kitchen or surrounding area? Maybe a milled L shaped piece of trim that could offer a hidden handle? Just a thought ... Oh, and Steve's response to the Maid situation 😅 I'd say wear a long old school matron maid uniform to repay that 'why I have a wife' comment 🤣I'm sure he'd get a laugh from that ... oh, and if you do, please record his reaction to it 😝-- Jerry

Having a creative mind, I also go through a lot of the things you experience. I've had a lot of people express the wish to also have creativity. The thing they don't understand is how it must be managed. It's kind of like fire, a great tool useful for many things. If mishandled, though, can end in a catastrophic disaster. So, purveyors of creativity, be careful what you wish for. 21:46

I think you made the right choice to finish the project later. I believe that once you cross the line of doing things just for “the video” that authenticity is lost. Continue doing things as you want, how you want, and when you want to and bless us with the opportunity to be a part. Lastly, we have all been in that position in a project where we go “oh, shoot” that was wrong. I try to see that instance as a learning opportunity. So please, never question whether something is “good enough” to show on a video. If I wanted to watch a highly skilled craft person that never makes a mistake I would be watching a different feed. Keep it real!! (Oh, you might want to check if the drawer is binding up as it closes - sides parallel.)

I feel your frustration with the medicine cabinet Michy. It became quite complicated, but you will figure it out like you always do. Yalls property is so perfect and beautiful for ⛷️ and the dogs love the playtime and running they get from ski trails, too. Poor Clyde struggles to go anywhere, but he's living a wonderful life, yallng have given him, so I'm sure he just likes being out there with the pack and you two. That roof/snow build up has got to be so frustrating to deal with every winter. I hope the roofers can figure out a solution for that problem once and for all. Was that a little ode to Kids in the Hall there? Very nice. Those type of ball bearing slides are super sensitive to being straight & flat, any twist or bow goofs them up. So installing tight to a piece of wood is the least user friendly. If you're in a home center, take a look at tool boxes or cabinets with them. They'll be attached at the front and back, with the middle floating. The soft-close design they use is a poor adaptation onto the existing glide design. Oh, and they -are- made down to 10" depth, but as you saw they are typically on the shelf for deeper applications.

I appreciate your ability to show your projects even when they are not working out as planned! My wife and I built our home that we live in and most of the furniture in it...many times I have wanted to throw a project in the fire after spending long hours on it :( If you haven't finished it yet (sorry behind on the vids) have you thought about having bottom mount slides and doing a recessed drawers front panel? Then you wouldn't have to add trim!

Hi Michy, I’m sure you’ve heard of this before but as a friendly reminder that you should spray the inside components of the snowblower with cooking spray or a DuPont Teflon Ice and Snow Repellent. It really does help prevent the discharge shoot from clogging.
