Still works in 2020 thanks a lot....I accidently cancelled my format and was facing this issue. Even diskpart was not able to recognise the drive. After following your steps, did format using diskpart and now the drive is good as new.

in my senario if i run chkdsk R: /f /r /x then return error Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges or the disk may be locked by another process. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode and make sure the disk is unlocked. now what should do?

I have a corrupted internal hard disk, right now I'm using that internal HDD as external device using USB cable & my system is running on SSD. I've followed the procedure by using chkdsk command in CMD as administrator & fixing operation was successful for the selected drive of the corrupted HDD, but still I can't open the drive. It's showing "parameter is incorrect,drive is inaccessible" like earlier. Please help me with any other options to recover data from corrupted drive..

finding same issue with my external HDD, on CHKDSK showing type of file system as FAT32, after that msg displays as "an error occurred while reading the file allocation table (FAT 1)" & then same for FAT 2 and finally msg displays as "there are no readable file allocation tables (FAT).....please help in recovering my drive

I didn't get exactly what you did after you input the command "chkdsk i" my problem with my 1TB little different, the hard drive not showing at all on My Computer but it showing on the disk management as "Unallocated" I want to access the drive without format it or lose data, the disk almost full of very important data for me, if you can help suggest any solution would be so grateful, Thanks.

how to check the drive to see if anything was written to it before it stopped working? the white light on my wd external drive doesnt come on, it worked on my old pc, not on new one, i tried a laptop i couldn't figure out. please help. I can still rma wd but dont want until i verify nothing is on the drive.

Sir i tried same process but this process not work my hard disk I getting problem "the type of file system is raw. Chkdsk is not available for RAW drives

My Hard drive some folders are not opening while rest are opening easily... When I try to place some data in it it says Volume is Dirty. Chkdsk /f H: command is not working for drive. it says *Corruption was found while examining files and directories. *Corruption was found while examining the volume bitmap. Chkdsk remains there after this error for hours I tried maximum for 5 hours. I tried AOMEI software but it does not work. How to Fix This Error..... Please Answer As Fast As Possible...
