Oh my. As a swede my brain broke for a second when I was hit with swedish words. I can help with some of the translation as a thank you for such a cozy video: 1. Gula asken = "The yellow box". "Gul" means yellow, and a "Ask" is a box that you can close. 2. Aristospel = "Best game(s)". "Aristo-" means "best", and "spel" means game (or games) in a broad sense of the word. 3. Gammalt fiskeläge = "Old fishing spot / place". "Gammalt" means old. "Fiske" means fishing. "Läge" means a spot or a place. We usually use the word for places with special properties, like in this case, it's great for fishing. I will update this list if I see more swedish words :) tack för mig och ha det gött Karen!

I'm actually a Swedish woman watching this in Sweden. If you want music from Sweden from the 1940's you can look up these artists: Jussi Björling, Evert Taube, Alice Babs, Gullan Bornemark, Carl Gärhard and Edward Person. The chocolate is the best brand ever from Finland. Their Cafe Fazer in Helsinki is so beloved and famous.

I’m from Sweden and saw many of these kinds of wooden puzzles with random piece shapes and no guiding picture in my grandparents home when I was little (they were alive in the 40s but I certainly wasn’t). Fun thing about the puzzle company Aristospel is that it was run by two sisters who started it in 1936. Fun to read about women in the puzzle business 80 years ago :)

Omg! Karen doing one of the Gula asken (meaning literally "the yellow box") puzzles - that is so exciting! I love doing these kinds of old wooden puzzles and having no idea what the image looks like until you actually do the puzzle. The descriptions can be quite quizzical and the image can really surprise you. I have one I haven't done yet where the description is "The colonel narrates" and I'm imagining this picture where an old man is yapping on, to a group of fairly uninterested younger people, but who knows😄

Sweden: That was so lovely to watch Karen. I have 4 wooden puzzles which I've actually bought from a specialist shop on Etsy in the USA and they are my pride and joy in my collection. They all have their own unique cut and their own special whimsy shapes, to match the subject of the puzzle. Putting together a wooden jigsaw is infinitely more mindful than the usual puzzles. The actual act of dropping a piece into its slot and the sound of the piece dropping is so fulfilling! Looking forward to your next vid, Karen! 🥰

I love wooden puzzles! They are much more expensive but they are generally heirloom quality. They'll outlast me, that's for sure! The whimsy pieces and general uniqueness of puzzle piece shape make a harder challenge than you'd imagine. So, even if they are pricier for fewer pieces, they do take longer to put together than a regular cardboard puzzle with normal piece shapes. I wonder if the design was a poster that the company purchased from the UK for their puzzles? Also, my theory is the holes are from manufacturing...maybe they held the wood in place while the shapes were being cut out? Never been to Sweden, but it'd be fun to visit there!

I have never seen this brand of puzzles before, although I do have a few old vintage puzzled from the British brand Victory which have almost exactly the same style of piece cuts and whimsies. I've looked up a bunch of Vitory puzzles on ebay but more of them have slightly more standard piece cuts, none are quite as creative as the ones I have, or as this Swedish one in the video. I believe mine come from a specific series called Victory Artistic, which probably makes a difference for the piece cuts.

I loved the sound of the pieces going in - a gentle and muted "fump". Sometimes with other puzzles, the "kathunk" is really loud and percussive and interrupts the chill peaceful vibe of watching you put the puzzles together (but I know some people love that sound!!). Very cool to see this puzzle make its way to you all the way from Sweden. Can't believe it's 80-something years old and in such good condition. Have a lovely holiday season Karen. Thanks for the videos.

I recently found your channel and it reignited my love for puzzles, it had been about a year since I did my last puzzle and after watching your videos I went out for 6 new (to me) puzzles that are more challenging than ones I’ve done in past, you make it look so easy!!! What takes you six hours is taking me like 40. I got puzzles that are like all purple with just varying shades and repeating pattern. I used to stray away from those knowing they were harder but watching you preserver through tough puzzle makes me want to just keep going. I love your channel and I can’t wait to buy your new puzzle I’m ordering it this weekend :)

It was Very satisfying to watch it go together and how cool to build a puzzle that is 80 years old! I need a picture to complete a puzzle, so to watch you put this together without any guide in 5 hours and 20 minutes just blows my mind! You have a great eye for tiny details in the pieces. Fantastic job! 😃✨ I enjoyed your Christmas video.

I think it would be cool to find a wood worker who can make a replacement for the missing piece, it would be blank but it would look so good

It was enjoyable watching you have so much fun with this puzzle. Even though I haven't been a puzzler up to this point, but my wife and I are going to try a puzzle over the holidays. Wish our relationship luck. And happy holidays!

The audio was spot on! Loved the choice of music in combination with the asmr-like clicking in of the pieces. Enjoyed this so much.

I just used Dall E 2 for the missing piece, it looked extra convincing. Maybe you should use Dall E II next time

I wanna add: Diamond Art Club is a seller for diamond painting that makes sure to use only licensed artwork :) most online store like Amazon & co sell stolen artwork as diamond paintings which is not cool. So it's such a cool thing! Also, yes for the puzzle :D

I’m not in Sweden 🇸🇪 or Finland 🇫🇮 but Australia 🇦🇺. I’ve been looking online at a lot of Gula Asken (yellow ash or yellow box I’m not sure) puzzles. I’m currently on a “museum” site (I think), I’m having trouble finding the translation option. Regardless, they have great images of the collection and the art style looks similar to the one that you have. Same boxes etc. I’m going to enjoy this rabbit hole, thanks for sharing this puzzle video, happy holidays to you and your family. Oh, and I really loved your Christmas decor ❤thanks again for sharing. P.s yellow box makes more sense given the....yellow box 😂

"the Yellow box" it is! "Ask" is also the name of the ash tree (and "asken" is the proper form for "the ash tree"), but as you found, context is a strong hint... Another fun fact for language learners is the Swedish word "bok" which translates to both "book" and "beech". Must be a thing with trees here. :-)

I remember when I told you diamond paintings. I’m glad you like it. Many other companies to choose from. You can also do custom paintings from some of the companies.
