I wish I knew Brent 30 years ago I had a 83 RX7 that I absolutely loved as a teenager. It developed a carburetor issue at idle it would die if I didn't stay on the petal. I worked at a shop and knew a dozen mechanics twice my age and not one of them could pin point the issue. After having the carburetor rebuilt and taking it to a shop that claimed to be rotary experts the issue never got resolved. I ended up getting rid of it, But I've missed it ever since.

A trumpeted exhaust tip would increase the van's sound by orders of magnitude. Colin Furze channel did made a trumpeted tip with a 3 foot diameter.

Temp high/low is generally a circuit fault condition. You can set the fault to be high or low. Generally temp wiring when it loses connection goes low and when the sensor itself fails it reads high.

When they finish totalling the Mytery Machine you should snag the engine and put it in the bat rod. I'm not an import guy but I'd love to have a Gen 1 RX7, I don't know if I'd fit in one being 6'10.. that and I have no clue how smog would work with one. There's a 1985 for sale not too far from me in decent shape with 21k on the gauge but who knows how much it really has. They want $4k for it at a tow yard. I like cars from 1985, I have this weird thing for them because they're the same age as me. You should see if you can buy "LaPhonda" from Roadkill and fix it.

I'm surprised that the Vargas Bros. hasn't taken a Miata and put a spicy 13b in it with a medium turbo so they can keep it spooled up and built a tire slaying burnout car out of it I think it would make for a badass burnout car or a badass drag car if they took a little lightweight car like that and put either a 13b or 20b in it with a TKX trans behind it with a good twin disc clutch and put an 8.8 built rear end and of course they would have to narrow it and top it off with a big single turbo if they built it as a drag car but if they built it as a burnout car I would put a medium sized single turbo on it so they can keep it spooled up and to stay in boost

That poor van has gotten the ka ka beaten out of it. They ought to get another body and fix it back up but it seems no matter what they do to it the engine continues to run. Surprised Cooper hasn't taken another turn doing burn outs in it just for old times sake, everyone else including you has beat on it. Hope you get it dialed back in. 😎

A common issue with the Water Temp changing when cranking is Low Coolant Level and a bad engine to body ground.

some fruit for thought, a shorted potentiometer/psi or hall effect sensor will pull down the entire 5v ref circuit, but a shorted thermistor on the 5v ref will not pull down the 5v ref circuit since they have current limiting resistor in the pcm and due to design of a thermistor like IAT or ECT sensor,if you did have a short to ground on a thermistor like a ECT sensor id expect to see the temp gauge peg out hot and have zero effect on the 5v ref circuit. this is good to know when hunting down pesky shorted 5v ref since you can ignore the thermistor circuits when it happens.

Now that yall know the mystery machine can handle what its got maybe for next time turn it up 👍 that thing freakin rips
