This posts the fact that Mendeleev just wanted to create the periodic table. In fact, he was writing a school-book about chemistry and needed the table to explain certain behaviours of elements. Clearly, his work was remarkable....it's just important to show the whole framework

• Hennig brand - isolated phosphorous from his urine • Antoine Lavoisier ( father of chemistry ) - defined what an element was - created a list of known elements in which they could be classified - the first one who tried to put the puzzle together • John Dalton - weighed the elements and arranged the puzzle by weight • Wolfgang Döbereiner - combined elements to see how they reacted to each other - bcs of him scientists discovered that elements belong to families that share similar properties • Dmitri Mendeleev - The one who put the puzzle together thus creating the periodic table - ordered the elements base from atomic weight and known properties - he also predicted elements that were not yet discovered

Not good compared to other ted videos, and you wipe out all Mendeleev's work saying that he dream it ! He did a lot of work and people think he is crazy before he got the answer !!!
@uknownada
@uknownada 7 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is 8 months old, but I think most of Mendeleev's work was excluded because there was already a video on him uploaded a month before this one. Plus the video itself was moreso based on the elements and how they interact and such.

I mean, chill out dude. This was made 5 years ago, and when you posted that, 3 years ago. Most people easily gain a lot of progress in just one year so like, what about 3? 5? Besides, they didn't say all he did was dream. They mentioned how he was up for a every long time trying to figure it out. And *OH MY GOD* if you're gonna make a criticizing and serious comment, please use proper grammar! It's *KILLING* me! This is why I'm on grammar patrol!

Where's Henry Moseley? Yeah we all know Mendeleev was the closest amongst those who tried to arrange the elements by weight, but he was still wrong. He was a genius, undoubtedly. But he was wrong.
@caib714
@caib714 4 жыл бұрын
Yea this video has major mistake that is easily verifiable. It's Moseley who arranged the elements by atomic number, not by mass number like Mendeleev, that gave us our modern Periodic Table today. Mendeleev's table comes closest it, but it has many inconsistencies that make predictions incorrect.

The consensus is quite mixed on that one. The bang part may not be literal, and of course, no sound. Some, on both sides of the fence, consider the possibility He had something to do with it. I mean, god or not, if your mind is not boggled by how the universe got here, you are not paying attention. But joking aside, I would love it if everyone could agree that we don't know for sure how this incredible place we call the universe was created. But everyone should be allowed to guess, and believe.
