I think maybe they believe they've done some good work in making this film. *Pat on the back* The title, music, and coy use of words highlight the efforts taken to dramatize this to the point that it actually strays from the reality on the ground. I'd say it's almost worthy of Hollywood production in terms of reliable information..minus the nifty gadgets, of course.

So you understand now. They simply had a preference for white women as concubines who bore them children who grew up to be Mamluks. Read up on the Mamluk Empire. Africans, especially African Muslims had rights as citizens and they were not oppressed. When the Europeans took slaves, the brutalised and dehumanised often using racial differences as an excuse. Arabs did not.
