Somalia joins East African community

7 ай бұрынThe East African Community has formally admitted Somalia as a member of the regional bloc. The decision came during the 23rd ordinary meeting of heads of state in Arusha Tanzania. Somalia becomes the eighth EAC member state after Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, and Burundi. Somalia first applied to join the EAC in 2012 but the verification process has taken some time for various reasons.

Salute to the East African Community/EAC: Kenya 🇰🇪 Tanzania 🇹🇿Uganda 🇺🇬 Rwanda 🇷🇼 Burundi 🇧🇮 South Sudan 🇸🇸 Democratic Republic of Congo/DRC 🇨🇩 and Somalia 🇸🇴 I hope that the EAC moves forward with their plans to establish the East African Federation/EAF

How does bringing a country in the middle of war benefit the East African Community? It is good that Somalia should join, but shouldnt they have first sorted out their internal strife? Anybody with sense knows what happens to a house built on a weak foundation. The EAC becomes increasingly untenable day by day.

EAC failed long ago! The EALA organ just wants new members fee. It should have been a Tanzanian led effort not Kenyan.

The problem with Somalia is full of ultranationalists. Don't get me wrong yes it's a good thing they have joined but giving them the total freedom to move from one country to another will be chaotic.

EAC failed a decade ago! Now its the EALA just looking for fees from members. Even Djibouti and Ethiopia and even genocidal Sudan is in the pipeline. Its now a con scheme.

@@user-me5jq4dv4i Ethiopia already occupies Somali regional state I’m from that regional state and we will fight for our independence our land and people will never be Ethiopian we must fight for independence no sea port or negotiations with Ethiopia until Somali people gain freedom and unity then maybe we can be friends and have open amidst trade runny economy and share the sea port but Ethiopia is goal is annex all of Somali inhabitted territories in Africa and that is such a dangerous evil plan and one that breaks international law
