Some Basics about Wax Injection

This is just a quick video with hopes of helping the beginner understand simple wax injection and isn’t intended to educate the professional. As a substitute to talc some prefer Corn Starch. PSI is generally at about 7 unless the mold is quite large or really thing requiring more pressure to inject. This is done by increasing the pressure about 2 pounds at a time.

Corn starch is a good alternative to talc. If you are blowing off the talc it’s likely you are breathing it in.

I definitely breathed it in during the video but generally I have a good vacuum hose to draw it away. I've found corn starch to cause mold in the molds so I don't use it. Definitely a good edit for the description of this video. Thanks!

Thank you, that was great! Very straight forward! Would one or two stout rubber bands be able to hold the plates to the mold well for wax hardening? I like how your plates fit your mold sizes. I'm about to make mold forms to make my first molds. What standard mold sizes do you like to end up with? Thank you!

Does knowing which side the top is when injecting? I get why it helps when releasing the mold and removing the model.

Mostly to know which side to pull up on first but sometimes if there is more wax that needs to fill one side it helps that the bigger side is down so it isn't fighting gravity.
