There are many videos where people proclaim how much of an improvement in air tool performance that they get from switching to HiFlow couplers and plugs and they almost always give the credit to the large bore plugs.
The reality is that it's the couplers that make the difference.

Good to know . all I ever used was M style plugs been working with air tools over 45 years , all the hype on hi flow is crazy . for home use its crazy a 20 to 30 gallon tank has a 1/4 inch NPT fitting at the tank so going with larger kind of sets a guy back on PSI but gain flow . I turn my tanks down from 150 psi to 120 psi to save wear tear on the electric motor and plastic pistons . if you run a auto shop at home best thing you can do is get a good 80 to 100 gallon tank 3/4 to 1 inch outlet at the tank and use 1/2 inch air lines . but home uses not worth the extra cash your going to spend to gain 1 or 2 cfm .

I've been asking this question a lot and got many different answers. I was led to believe that the plug is the only part that is highflow and the coupler does nothing different other than accept the high flow plug. You are saying that the coupler itself is responsible for the higher flow rate? What is the purpose of opening the plug internal diameter then?

@@Stedlin roger THAT. Ordered. Thanks. Is the full flow plug worth while over the safety adapter bushing that threads onto my existing plugs? For clarification, I understand that the bushing is not intended to increase flow, but rather a safety feature to prevent whip upon disconnecting the tool. I was just wondering how much flow would the full flow plug provide over the aforementioned setup with the bushing, provided the female coupler is used in both variations. Noticeable?

@@natas0733 The increase in flow because of the full flow plug is only noticeable when the flow rate is greater than 30 ft.³ per minute.

Hallo, what's the brand name and style of that last coupler, the coupler with the 8 high tech polymer balls please and easy push in collar? Is it available for low prices and in a kit with some good plugs on Amazon? Thank you

@@Stedlin 👍🏻excellent, no matter what I do I can't eliminate the air leak between my plug and coupler connections. Can we leave them outdoors 24/7 in the rain and snow? Thank you

Thanks. Outdoors in rain and snow 24/7 is OK when you use our plugs with our couplers.

@@Stedlin Great to hear that outdoors isn't an issue. Would you say Stedlin is pretty much the best available and totally worth their cost? I've just been using the stuff I get from Harbor Freight. I'm just new to air hose fittings too. I recently noticed one of my connectors doesn't require me to pull the sleeve back as I insert the plug. This is awesome so it's usable one handed. It's really the only kind to make, sell and purchase. I never understood why most all kits sold come with more male plugs than female plugs, why not equal number of each? I don't get it. Thanks

@@Hundert1 Stedlin is the best available. The reason kits come with more male plugs than female is because only one female is required for each hose where males are required for every air tool.

If you are still using a standard M style plug and only change out your coupler, how are you making a difference? Are you saying the standard couplers have a smaller than .19" hole in them? I would say the high flow "V style" plugs with the mating coupler should still have more flow than the standard M style no matter the coupler???

The couplers are flow restrictive. For example: Standard Milton M style Coupler and common industrial plug at 100 psi in and five psi pressure drop equals 15CFM flow. Stedlin coupler with common industrial plug - 23CFM = 53% flow increase. Stedlin coupler with QuietPlug - 23CFM = 86% flow increase. Stedlin coupler with full flow plug - 32CFM = 117% flow increase.

@@Stedlin Clearly the Stedlin coupler is better than the standard Milton M style coupler. How does it perform compared to a Milton V style coupler mated with a V style plug?

The one thing the V style is better at is a lower pressure drop at high flow rates. However the improvement is not particularly significant at flow rates lower than 40 CFM. The V style is inferior in every other way.

@@Stedlin Question: Both the standard industrial plug and the Stedlin QuitePlug have a rating of 23CFM so why does the Stedlin plug have a higher percentage rating?

@@billosbornejr8137 A common M style plug with Stedlin Quickcoupler has a flow rate of 23 CFM with an inlet pressure of 100 PSI and a pressure drop of 5 PSI. The Stedlin Quietplug increases the flow to 28 CFM. A Stedlin Full Flow plug increases the flow to 32 CFM. Standard M style plug = .188” bore. QuietPlug = .219” bore FullFlow plug = .242” bore.

This is interesting and I already knew that most of the restriction is in the female couplers. But where are the FACTS, i.e. the unbiased, scientific testing, to prove what you are saying about the different ones? I really would like to see it. Also, where are those Stedlin fittings made (i.e. country of origin)?

I don’t trust this video… you seem like a ‘shill’ for the orange Stedlin brand. In other words, there seems to be some bias in this video. Are they paying you?

Of course I am biased. I designed the Stedlin couplers and make them. I did so because I needed some decent couplers.
