I was a high voltage electrician at Fermilab in Illinois. We had an outdoor 12KV switch that faulted when a snake followed a mouse into the cabinet. I had to clean the remains of the snake out of the switch!

Can you make a video of step by step how you would troubleshoot a no water and explain why you are doing each step? I just recently subscribed to the channel and am new to the trade. Your videos have shortened the learning curve significantly! It has given me great insight!

White sugar will stop cement from doing its thing. We kept a half pallet on the oil rig just incase we had a failure while cementing.

I opened the console on a kitchen range one day. All four burner switches and the oven thermostat had very dead mice on them.

One of the most interesting channels on KZfaq, ive watched almost all of your videos, i asked a well driller here in AZ if they fracked wells and he just laughed at me, says with our soil conditions here theres never a need to frack a well? I mean i get that its different out here but is it? I mean the ground is the ground everywhere was my thought but you are the expert. Might be a good topic for a future video. Thanks

When it came to animals interfering with mechanical stuff, my story deals with a brown recluse spider that got into the relay mechanism of my houses air conditioner. It got squashed by the relay contacts when they engaged. THe night after work, I came home and was greeted at the door with a blast of warm air. My AC fan was still running but no cooling. AC repair guy opened up the relay as it was still buzzing. He found the spider. Once the spider remains were removed, the AC returned to making cool air. Of all the places a brown recluse could have gone.

I believe you can add soda pop to concrete to delay it from curing. Might come in handy in the future

7:10 Here in my city the entire Szinva valley has rocks like that. It's top soil, yellow clay, then just this for tens of meters on before you go to the second (actually useful and yielding) water layer. Drillers just hang up when you tell them you're from there. They go up to bowling ball size, sometimes all the way to a full meter and I have seen in person a carbide hole saw type drill get literally folded in on itself trying to go through.

Im in north East Texas and its oil country. I want to drill a water well for irrigation and to replenish my farm pond during droughts. What's the chance of your rig hitting an oil pocket and if so how would you cap it off?

I've recently experience the mouse and snake problem. Mouse in the control box. Chewed wires. Snake found its way in. Electrocuted all. Rotted and liquefied. Corroded wires. Very nasty and stinky.

Great videos, I just found your page, and I am going to replace my pump this weekend. I do have a question for you, can you replace a 3wire with a two wire using the same wire, or do I need to run a new power cable. Thank you
@h2omechanic
@h2omechanic Жыл бұрын
You can use the same wire, just inspect it thoroughly. You remove the starter/control box & simply wire nut the black to black & red to red/white. You don't use the yellow anymore. (You still use the pressure switch)

Great video! You never know what you will find. I don't know if you read your comments, but I would like to know if I was ripped off by a Plummer. I had a guy come and replace my well pump, I already had the top open and was going to do the job myself, which I had done twice before but couldn't get the hose to break loose. He was recommended by a friend; he came hooked up a t-handle black pipe and broke it loose, hooked up a tripod with 3 little tires and an electric motor and pulled up the old pump by the hose. Anyway, from start to finish it took him and a helper 45min. Then he said prices went up and said the cost is $2,500. for parts and labor. I almost fell to the floor. He didn't have to change the hose because I put a new won 7 yrs. ago, he put a new pump, spliced the wires told me the rope is not needed dropped it back down into the well. Gave me a 5-year warrantee. And I put the top of the well cap back together. He gave me a bill and all it said was parts and labor $2,500. I'm in Pike County. PA. (bluemax63@outlook.com) I've watched a bunch of your videos in the past. Keep them coming, I always enjoy them. God Bless.

It's all about the area you're in, how deep the well is, what brand and class of pump, and how many people are doing it in your area. I was quoted $4500 for the same job on a 160ft deep well in northeast Ohio. Another contractor and I agreed on a price and they backed out the day they were supposed to do the job. 3rd outfit didn't even return my call. All 3 are registered private water systems contractors in Ohio. So I did it myself, then learned all I could about it, got licensed, now I do well service.

$2200 is the most common price for pum0 removal and replacement. So your not far off. Especially if the plumber used his electric pump puller. I've seen ppl pay 5300 for something similar to your job, and that was in my opinion way over priced. But it does depend upon the area your in.

Berks county, Pa. About 10 years ago I paid ~ $800 to have a leaking tube adapter on the house side of the pitless adaptor. We had a leak causing the well pump to cycle. Pitless about 30" below grade. Pump still cycled but noticeable less. Plumber did not have time to further investigate (or didn't want to be bothered). My brother and I pulled the pump and changed all the fittings at the at the pump. Many holes at the groves in the tubing adaptor and was paper thin. Very heavy to pull by hand at 260 feet down.
