Not only did I find some English serveware of a brand that was established in England in the late 1890's, but also a pair of one of my favorite kitcheny brands!!! But what were they?.... Let's go thrifting and find out!!!

Its Tuesday evening and we are headed to my favorite Goodwill at Rainbow and Alta. Both the store and the shelves were quite full, and I was excited to find treasure in just about every aisle! I have my Thrifting Vegas Blanket and my reuseable shopping bags ready, so Thrift with me and learn what to bolo and what to leave on the shelf, and why. Actually, those Polk a dotted reindeer and sleigh are from maybe the late 80’s and for sure early 90’s. I just saw an entire collection at goodwill and they were marked ‘92. Another goodwill had the sleigh marked in the 90’s as well. They were the same pieces and patterns painted as yours, plus the cute chunky reindeer head plaques. Also, I bought that plaid ribbon people were using for those ceramics for my daughter’s Christmas dress and her hair when she was 3 the same year. ‘92.

Greetings from Chicago! You mentioned being certain to check banks when you run across them, " . . . give it a shake or try to look inside because you just never know; there might be some cash in there or some folding money." Well, you are absolutely right! I once found a 1929 dime inside the mechanical bank I found at a thrift store once. I still have it to this day. I don't even know if it's worth much more than face value but I just like having something that old. And to think, it was minted the same year as the 1929 crash. Of course, the Great Depression that followed was the origin or the famous saying, "Hey, brother, can you spare a dime?" Yep, I do love thrifting, I love history, and oh, yes, I love your channel. The white ceramic bear you picked up is indeed a project piece. The OT clinic I worked in at the Maine VA from '88 used ceramics and leathercraft as 2 of its main craft activities. The bear mold was accompanited by an ashtray that looked like stones with a pond bottom and a tiny fish (where you could rest your cigarette). Usually the bears were painted black or dark brown with gray stones, but occasionally someone would paint the bear white as well as the ashtray to look like ice. It was a classic piece and very popular with the vets! Definitely a vintage piece now!
