This absolutely ridiculous what the USPS is doing to its employees. They should be paid MORE not less! People really don't get it when it come to this job. It's grueling, overwhelming and it's a lot of work. This is one factor in why the USPS is always hiring. They cannot keep people due to bad managers, supervisors and unrealistic routes in terms of getting it done within a time frame. She's right, now she has to do over her route in less time and make it work. I'd never work the USPS again

im a clerk for USPS. those scanners are being monitored by a third party company logistics company. a company that has never delivered a piece of mail/package in their life. this company basically tells our management if our carriers are doing their job right. management listens to this company to justify routes and hours being cut. its basically someone behind a desk that has the expectation that our carriers can run 100mph and deliver mail in less time using vehicles from WW2. these vehicles dont have AC by the way. just little fans. also, our management still get their increasing yearly bonuses. a carrier died June 20, 2023 in Dallas due to the 115 degree heat. the week prior to his passing, he was given disciplinary action for working to slow....in the heat. our management wants to work us to death and still take home bonuses for giving up their humanity.

I'm a rural carrier in Mississippi and I can verify that all of this is true. I did notice that NOTHING was mentioned about those of us rural carriers who are REQUIRED to use and provide gas and maintenance for our own PERSONAL vehicles. Or that we are also not being paid for delivering Amazon packages and haven't been paid for that since it started in early 2018. When you figure in those expenses with the pay cut that was just crammed down our throats... I honestly don't know how my family will make it. I didn't make near what she made, but I have felt how deep this cuts just as well. I've been with USPS for 10 years, and I love the job I do, but this is so far past insulting and demeaning. To work for a company that has absolutely zero appreciation for the work you do for them and for the risk you take every day to do that work is so disheartening.

This is a total bs. The USPS can blame it on a mandate by an arbitrator, but the person who gets her pay reduced from 46 hours for working 5 days now to 37 hours for working 6 days can’t blame anyone for not making ends meet-and not by her own fault. I heard 6 U.S. Senators sending letter to that Trump’s Postmaster /Donor asking him to delay these employees pay cuts.. What about Joe Biden? If he wants to be a president for another 4 years, perfect time for him to fire this Trump’s PMG, DeJoy. All the lips service from politicians would be shown clearly now by their lack of action!

@lisag5513
@lisag5513 Жыл бұрын
Not really sure how this thread turned into City vs rural carriers. Two different crafts. When I was hired I was told I am only guaranteed one day a work a week. My regulars KDAY. Also I am required to have not only one vehicle to deliver out of but also a second vehicle just in case. So if that wasn't something I was willing to take a chance on then I wouldn't continue with the job. I don't know exactly what city carriers are told before they are hired but it doesn't involve destroying their own vehicle. And on days when you're over your evaluation you're not getting paid. Some offices have never stopped delivering Amazon packages and some have. None of those decisions are made by carriers. So once again the discussion it's not about the supposed data that's been collected for over a year that the post office refuses to hand over. Stop blaming the worker for doing what they were hired to do. Depending on what office you working there are people who will drag their feet and do as least as possible to eat up their 8-hour shift. That's not for another carrier to point out. If management had a problem with that person management should address it.

Yet, if your evaluation ends at 3:30p and you're out there until 4:30p, you are no longer paid and essentially volunteering your time, right? What's the difference? A lot of routes nationwide are overburdened and cannot be completed inside the allotted amount of time. Said routes, are being cut, claiming the (false/missing)data says otherwise. I will be losing over $11K but so far there is no explanation of the goofy % numbers like the lady spoke of either. The new RRECS system is coming across as a 'wreck' for sure. And some say we voted for this, BS I don't know anybody that did. Maybe some of you should run your own vehicle at your expense out in the muddy, rocky roads, changing tires and still getting in on time with a post master saying need to work faster.

The post office LOSES money delivering to rural areas just so ppl like you can have CHEAP service. If we got paid hourly, ppl would complain that their delivery has slowed down. I was a carrier for 30 years starting in '87. Initially, it wasn't bad. We were given reasonably sized routes, with a relatively low volume of mail. We were instructed to look at the name and address on every piece of mail at each stop, to verify it was correct, just before putting it into each box. Then with every passing year, the volume went up. More junk mail, political mail, and parcels. It would take a lot longer to verify all of those extra pieces and to get out of the truck so much more often to take all of those extra parcels to the door. Yet management STILL expected us to get back in 8 hours, and would harass us if we didn't. Naturally, people started taking short cuts. Many would "sleeve" the mail. Roll a thin flat ad into a U-shape, and place it into your sorting slot at the P.O. Then slide every other piece of mail into that. That way, they only had to look at the address on the ad without taking the time to verify each piece of mail inside the bundle. As a result, many weren't catching the mistakes they made when they cased the mail into the sorting slots in the morning. And they were making a lot of mistakes casing the mail because they felt so rushed to get those mountains of mail in the slots fast enough to get out on the street early. If you took too long casing the mail in the office, you wouldn't have enough time on the street to get back in 8 hours. Also compounding the problem was the fact that those slots were too narrow for that volume so you would have to use both hands to cram it in after they filled up. Much slower than using one hand to slide them in when they are empty. You know what they say, "haste makes waste". In this case, more misdelivered mail. To make it WORSE, management would use our quicker times when mail was unusually light, to justify ADDING more stops to our routes. The routes became IMPOSSIBLY long for those who didn't take the mistake generating short cuts. So most people DID take the shortcuts. And they would harass me daily for taking longer to do it RIGHT.
