I'm sorry about the ads - my channel is not monetized in any way, but I no longer have the ability to edit out the song in one of the promos - due to all the views, according to the KZfaq editor - that is causing the copyright issue, resulting in all the ads. I know it kinda ruins the whole experience...

Sarah Crews My memories are awfully fuzzy, so I don’t know what I can tell you for certain. I have no recollection of the makeup removal, so it was probably very easy to wash off. What I do recall was the “eons” of time I had to sit still while the makeup artist applied it all. (For a hyperactive and incredibly obnoxious child, that was a torturous way to spend a Saturday morning. I feel sorry for all the adults who had to put up with me.). I do recall they made a big deal about the safe and hypoallergenic nature of the makeups, which turned out to be absolutely true. For hard facts, your best bet might be to find some sort of archivist at Schering-Plough and email them? If you can navigate the monolithic corporation they’ve become. The Paas stuff was all made by a (slightly-smaller) Plough company, based here in Memphis.

Lil Dill Jones and Me! I remember doing tv spots for Big Brothers and McGruff (the crime dog), but I suspect they were regional and thus far less likely to wind up anywhere here. The BB one was just me talking to an off camera voice. The McGruff one was a whole bunch of kids... playing? In a playground? Running down a hill maybe? All I remember for sure is that we had to pretend it was Spring when it was actually still a VERY cold winter. They had giant turbine heater fans that were loud and could only be turned on between takes. And we were dressed in shorts and t-shirts! But, we did it for McGruff, man! And we’d do it again if he asked! I recall making US$400 for either the BB ad or both of the Pass makeup shoots. I just remember the 4-0-0 part. Dad wisely held on to it, but allowed me to spend it as I pleased. Should come as no surprise to any 80’s kid that it all went toward a vast array of Star Wars and Transformers toys. Ten-year-old me LIVED, baby! ^_^ Oh, and I was also featured in an episode of Dick Williams’ Magicland, which was a regional Memphis-area thing for kids. Mr. Williams (and a panda bear puppet, I think) did some magic for me. I think that was just lucky, though. Now I really wanna search KZfaq for that and I know I’ll wind up sleep-deprived and disappointed.

I remember my Frankenstein costume was NEON green, pink, orange, and yellow. It used to have the plastic costume folded up in the box with the mask peeking through the plastic window. I used to wait all October to see that package on our diningroom table when I got home from school. Then your parents would argue with you that you couldn't wear it until Halloween. I used to love it when the neighbors on my block would come out just to see what every kid was wearing. Thanks for the memoryJessicaXhtx
@negascoot234 жыл бұрын
@@Stephanie-lp5tm In our house (in the 80s) we bought our Halloween costumes on Columbus Day--as that was the last school holiday before Halloween. It became an unofficial tradition ☺️ We were allowed to try on our costumes just ONCE before Halloween, right after we got them home...just to see how they looked. There was an essential flaw in this system: I was a fickle and indecisive kid😂 Since costume shopping was confined to one day, if I couldn't figure out what I wanted before Columbus Day, I was kinda screwed. Invariably, I'd wind up picking something almost at random--because I felt I HAD TO 🥺 This would leave me with a costume I was at best indifferent about. This was a serious problem for preteen me: Halloween was the most important day of my year, trumping even Christmas or my birthday. A costume I was unenthusiastic about simply would not do. So I would pester my parents until they let me get one I liked...once I figured out what I really wanted ☺️ It usually worked--but I must have been an amazing pain in the ass every October 😂

I've been in nothing but memory lane since I found this today! I miss original commercials, they actually had a team that came up with these commercials. Now everything is either cartoons or CGI commercials, no originality. My mom always had to work on Halloween so we'd go with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. We knew she had to work because she paid all the bills on her own! I never miss "Trick or Treating" with my kids! The cool part is that my Mom comes with us to see her Grandkids Trick or Treat and she always apologizes for not being there, but I let her know that she held our house together all on her own! She is an amazing Mother!

In Halloween 1984 I went trick or treating in the apartment complex behind the local university and there were so many kids, that some of the residents had set up scary displays and even converted the little shared patios into ad hoc haunted houses with spooky music and glow sticks. There was such a sense of community and everyone had fun, even the lonely cat lady that got drunk every day would have her window open blaring scary movies she binged watched on whatever TV station was playing them. It added to the atmosphere. There were no weirdos and no one to get offended and the biggest threat was cavities. Today I live in a similar apt complex and it's full of foreigners who some haven't even heard of Halloween, much less celebrate it. I can't even talk to most of them because they don't speak English. I'm glad I never had kids. There's no where for them to grow up. I love these commercials but they make me sad too.

Hell, I'd rather them go out and have fun over doing drugs, getting in trouble, etc anyday) and less and less people are having fun anymore (I've noticed this myself as well). Everyone at any age should be able to have fun and trick or treat (as long as they have a costume and participate of course). People are forcing kids to grow up way too damn fast, it's a real shame honestly.

Science is still murky on the long term effects and some countries have out lawed them all together. Plus it makes perfect sense that someone who can not eat nuts would have issues with wheat grown using the same genes. Again not speculation these are facts. The use of GMO foods exploded in the 70s and so has the rise in food allergies in kids. But hey I am only a trained chef and working on my BA in food science.
