The amount of negative comments on this video is bizarre. Apparently people like to comment before watching the video, it takes him just over 45 seconds to say that he liked the design and he even included the smiley emote in his comment. Its obvious that he liked the improvement and seemed to be shocked to see something on the market that resembled a passed project of his.

Rowdy Audi : So here I am thinking the same thing and you said it. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I used to go through the same thing with online forums and products I used to make. Someone would post "This thing is garbage, I can't fit the widget on the fidget! It's backwards!" To which we or another happy customer would post: "Instructions, page 2, paragraph one, third sentence. 'First step, reverse widget before fitting it on the fidget.'" LOL

The title clearly states that someone copied his design... It is not his design. Its a very basic turbine system that is used everywhere especially in dentist drills. So either he is claiming ownership on a thing he never invented, or he is click baiting. That is the problem.

MHG Scrubadub I absolutely can. The inspiration came from the true original. Which had only 2 impeller fins. Was a 90° elbow that took in water to pump uphill not air. The fact that these take air is not uncommon either, for that matter you could say the real inspiration for this exact thing came from lungs.

Inspired? Lol... It’s not like they watched a video that inspired them to help the homeless. They watched a video and seen dollar signs, they were “inspired” to become rich off of someone else’s work. I dare you to write a book, a movie script, design a invention; something that took you years to complete and you were passionate about it. Then allow some stranger to take it from you, make VERY simple improvements to it and then sell it and make millions... Your honestly going to tell me you wouldn’t be upset??? What we seen in this video wasn’t inspiration, it was greed. Inspiration would be watching one of these videos and designing something on your own.

They are not coming loose they are just spinning together with the nuts. The nuts can't come loose because they are Nylock nuts. It's normal to have some vibration with such high speeds also it's a 20 dollars part after all. They would probably not be moving if the nuts were to be tightened more.

From an electrical perspective, the electrical machine is not loaded as the power generated wasn't supplying any electrical load (I assumed so because I saw the leads hanging out). So, the prime mover (turbine ) wasn't loaded either (Except for frictional and other losses.) I think the performance gap between yours and the knock-off might be much smaller if you electrically load it. It's even possible yours might fare better despite fewer fins. Worth a try though. Anyways, Cool video. :)

Notice the rotor blade profiles are curved in opposite directions (relative to air flow) in the two turbine examples. This may be one reason for the significant performance variance.

@widgget
@widgget 6 жыл бұрын
It is possible, but the expansion pipe (the exhaust) needs to be tuned correctly. Basically you need to have more back pressure when the ports are open because you are forcing air in now. most 2 stroke nitro engines for RC have the intake and exhaust ports open at the same time. If you are pushing air into the intake you need more pressure on the exhaust to hold it in. the tuned pipe works by reflecting some of the gas pulse from each exhaust cycle back into the cylinder.

@BaronVonSparklefarts
@BaronVonSparklefarts 6 жыл бұрын
Well, at first glance, it would appear that the designs have similarities but the one you describe as a copy does have additional improvements to the design. For instance, the housing is larger and the turbine is larger. The modifications to the new design also seem to increase performance of the turbine by about 13,000 RPM at 2 bar while not under load. The improvement to performance under load is significantly more impressive with an increase of 13,800 RPM (6,200 - 20,000) at 2 bar. Additionally, the rotor designs are similar but not exact as they seem to have optimized the design of the rotor blade to provide better RPM while under load. I love your channel and the work you do is amazing, there is no doubt about that. I must admit that sitting here late at night watching your channel, I often see what you have built and begin thinking of ways to utilize, adapt, or improve upon your creations. If you do not already, please go through the process of patenting your designs. There are situations when an invention can receive adequate patent protection with a utility patent and a design patent. If your invention has a unique structure/function (utility) coupled with unique ornamental features (design), then you should consider filing both a utility patent application and a design patent application. This can be a difficult situation and it is recommended that you speak with a patent attorney prior to choosing this path. Both design and utility patent applications will provide you with “patent pending“ while they are pending at the Patent Office. For the most part, the patents granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office are for *improvements to existing products* or for innovations *similar to products already patented* and patents can also be granted for the successful miniaturization of an existing technology. Here is a great article that explains a lot about how the patent process works: www.ipwatchdog.com/2014/05/03/the-successful-inventor-patenting-improvements/id=49396/ As an aside, it speaks volumes about your character that you are cool with the new turbine. Keep up the good work.

dcw56 Idea was 2013. No product has been released until now. No rights have been secured. No patents applied for. If you didn't work with it for 4 years and someone else picks it up, you can't complain about it... That being said, if you take an idea from someone else, it's just common courtesy to give credit. But just because someone has a similar idea, does not necessarily mean that he copied it. There have been multiple example of people from different parts of the world coming up with the same idea.

This kind of turbine (with another turbine connected by the shafts) could be the basis of a pretty cool turbo design for maybe an rc nitro engine
@WafflePlaneRC
@WafflePlaneRC 6 жыл бұрын
You could use these to make a turbo system for a nitro engine. Of course, with the two-cycle engines you use in your other projects, having boost wouldn't really do much. It'd just blow right through the ports an out of the exhaust with the piston at bdc. You would need to use a 4-cycle nitro engine, but the only examples of those I've seen are for aero use and therefore don't have adequate cooling and aren't meant to run without a propeller. But it could totally be done. I'd LOVE to run a turbo setup on one of my airplanes...

I 'invented' the Bernoulli lifting surface for an aircraft I thought would take advantage of the surface area for armor. It was to shuttle troops. I abandoned the idea. Years later, I saw someone else using it in R/C aircraft. I felt so good someone used the idea, that I wanted to get all 'geeky' about it. They took that as a threat, "Sure you had that idea.". Here, that whole deal all I felt was smart because I had an idea that worked. You get pride involved in anything and it spoils it.

The copy had the benefit of someone else doing a lot of research for them. My dad used to have creative ideas and I'd quite often look at what he was doing and chuck in something like 'it'd work better upside down'. I've never had an original idea in my life. Maybe the copiest is like me - a developer, not an inventor. But that's how humans became a success - standing on the shoulders of those that went before.

Behindspace90 I'd even say that he hasn't considered the angle between intake and exhaust pipes. My guess is that his design is less fuel consuming, even if clearances were the same. But, as air travels more time inside, I guess it can go pass an optimal point where air speed inside the turbine starts to decrease due to drag. And all Peltons rely on air speed, not pressure. Thus, he should repeat the tests measuring also volume of air consumed over time, and divide speed per consume. My guess is that he will win at that point.

shalol I can't assure that, since mine is only from 2015 but all I know is that mine is (a copy?) from a brand called Microcosm. The original microcosm turbine costs double of the price you can find at dx or banggood but has the same name on it and performs well. AFAIK Microcosm ia not one of those brands that would make copies...it just sells reliable machines. I own another steam enginw from Microcosm that resembles a Pachasa engine, but again...Pachasa is just a well designed model, such as all V-engines have a similar angle between pistons

Turbines have been around for over 1000 years in one form or another. The only thing that makes his unique is he designed and built it at home. To build a high speed turbine at home that doesn't vibrate into million pieces is very impressive and requires a high degree of skill. But again, turbines are all around us in one form or another.
