People need to understand that trying to keep up with performance cars in regular economy cars is a terrible idea. I rarely comment on these videos, but the Accord is already under-steering heavy at 1:23-1:24 and headed straight for the wall just as Float starts changing lanes. To add to this, at 1:17 Float is already on the brakes hard, dropping from 141 to 99mph before the turn begins - meanwhile the Accord is still coming in hot at 1:22 as the turn begins for him. The Honda let ego win that day, and he ended up losing. I don't condone swimming, but Float had nothing to do with this crash aside from driving a nicer and more capable vehicle.

tbh regardless he was coming in way too hot, that was a bend that was leading into another and a normal car is going to be fucked there at that speed. for me, looking in the rear view camera you could literally barely see the headlights of the accord, and float was switching into the left lane because the next curve was going left. Economy cars can keep up with sports cars on the road. A Camry will cruise at 100mph with no issues. The problem comes when people don't realise that to catch up with that supercar, you have to go faster than he is to compensate for the difference in acceleration. So here you are in your 2003 Toyota Camry, chasing a Porsche, not realizing that hes going 100mph and has carbon ceramic brakes and 500 dollar continental tyres, while you're going 120mph to catch up with him on secondhand Kumho tyres with 2mm of tread, and cast iron discs. If you drive an economy car, speed with other economy cars. Don't try to tailgate a car built for the track.

I get sick of people trying to chase me in traffic when I’m just chilling. My car is out of commission so I drive my mom’s 2022 trailblazer. It has 100hp but it handles and brakes good. I’ll be swimming in traffic calmly, just taking cuts not cutting anyone off not driving reckless and someone will take it as an ego challenge and follow. Every time, I’ll be on my lunch break at work trying to drive home and smoke and someone wants to chase the 100hp suv and I usually lose them in traffic. Someone yesterday was riding my ass in an old pickup truck for no reason. I’m doing 20 over on the highway, traffic is pretty bad too. This dude decides to ride my ass for no reason so I start driving slow and he gets even closer. I said fuck it, brake checked him and he slammed his brakes so hard his tires squealed. I heard them tires lock up behind me and I was laughing so damn hard. I immediately started cutting up too and lost him in traffic till we hit a redlight. When you're on a real racetrack, you're expected to LOOK AHEAD and PAST the driver in front of you to observe road conditions, and other potential hazards. They're already dealing with what's in front of them and focused on that to be worried about rear ends, as it comes with the territory of slicing up at high speed. If the car in front brakes, the cars behind must brake as well, obviously, but you can be smart and look ahead to know there's a curve, or a road hazard, and brake on your own before the leader does. This Accord driver was just inexperienced, and it could have happened even if he had a better car.

I see lots of comments saying FWD cars cannot handle a turn that fast, while normal economy fwd cars (like that Accord) should not be trying to keep up with an M car in a turn... a well setup FWD sports car absolutely CAN keep up with RWD/AWD cars. Let me explain, FWD cars can perform amazingly if you KNOW how they need to be driven and have the proper setup. Usually a FWD car needs the following: limited slip differential, stiff suspension, grippy tires and a nice sized rear swaybar.. Usually you need to go for a car that is already setup from factory... the old Integra Type R is a good one, Civic Type R FK8 (my old car), Veloster N (if it has a diff) or something like a Mini Cooper which has a short wheelbase with amazing rotation. In a FWD car you can lift off the gas and you get neutral handling on corner entry, you can also use trail braking if you carried too much speed to get the car to turn in... but most people like this accord driver probably don't even know what trail braking is or how to properly do it. When you trail brake you are lightly touching the brake as you enter a corner and it allows you to have much more aggressive corner entry and turn at higher speeds. All race car drivers trail brake, no matter the car even RWD cars NEED to trail brake to really take corners as fast as they can be taken. To drive a FWD car fast lifting off the throttle and trail braking is REQUIRED. Trail braking does two things: #1 slightly shift weight to the front and gives more grip for turning and #2 it slows the car down which further reduces understeer. allows you If you give the car more gas while you are already understeering you will only understeer more. Also don't try any of what you see below on the street if you don't know your car, go to the track and learn your vehicle if your FWD car is stock and not performance oriented from the factory either get coilovers/LSD installed/race tires or get another car. Am I saying FWD cars are better than RWD? NO... but FWD cars can perform if you know how to drive them and know you and the cars limit. Watch the following video of me on track in my 426whp FWD Type R FK8: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g55gg6mJvLLSaI0.html I ran a 1:14 which is only 2 seconds slower than a 911 GT3RS that I ran with on that track. You will see when I enter corners I lift off a bit (not all the way) and then as I come around the apex I apply full throttle and let the differential pull me out the corners. Certain sections like turn nine (at 0:58 I use trail braking for a high speed entry at 110mph, my car can't take turn 9 at 110 (even fully setup stock car on SLICKS cannot take the corner at that speed) but the trail braking allows me to have a very aggressive entry while slowing the car to where I have enough grip/adhesion to make the turn. Keep in mind my Honda in this video was very modified, aftermarket turbo, full bolt on, fully modified, 275 section tires all around, spoon suspension, BIG chassis mounted front splitter that was very functional. Unfortunately an oil line or turbo failed (I'm not sure which) and it caught on fire one day as I was driving on the highway. Extinguisher could not put the fire out and it took the fire department 15 minutes to respond by then the car was a burned metal scrap heap that is the only reason why I don't have it anymore. Now, I drive a Mini JCW GP and apply the same driving techniques, lift off throttle (when needed) and trail braking... ESSENTIAL for driving a FWD car.... and RWD cars too!! Just because your car is RWD does not mean your front tires have unlimited grip, every car has a limit. My tuning/jdm car days are DONE for and my next vehicle will be a BMW M car but I just had to say that performance FWD car's can be a great starting point and do have potential.

Float slowed down and pulled into the right lane. The accord was still doing 100+ with his signal into the left lane. Float cuts him off. The accord side-swipes his own vehicle instead of rear ending float. This is a "bad lead" example. Float should have had more respect for the Accord and known his car wouldn't stop fast. There is no reason for this to have happened.

Dude gave it his all coming around the white truck to try and catch you at the exact time you came around the corner first and saw the red & blue lights and quickly slowed down to 65mph while slightly merging into the left lane right where his car’s line was directed. I think he hit the wall instead of your car low key. Of course he was driving wayyy beyond his cars limits and should have put his blinker on and switched lanes as soon as he passed the car with their hazard lights flashing in the beginning. The fact that he instead tried to speed up and stay in the left lane as if he wasn’t driving a basic car was a purely emotional reaction and due to this move, I don’t feel bad that he learned a hard lesson that day. It’s sucks that you gotta slow down to 65 to pass a cop. In MI we pass cop’s with their radar gun out at 80mph all day lol I hate driving out of state with their strict laws. @@mehdiatalah9583 You're lucky I'm working from home and get paid to do this but at 1:18 the highway begins to not only curve, but change from three lanes to two. Speedy float knows that you avoid most shit by hugging the right lane and thats why up until this point hes been flooring it in the right lane. Anyways, at 1:20 float can see police ahead of him and has fully switched lanes, no sign of anyone on his ass. that accord is actually BEHIND the white pickup in the farthest right lane in the direction of travel, and can clearly see the cones ahead. so, mr accord with his ego speeds up to cut off that truck. That lane change took float like 2 seconds. Now, he knows police are on the right side with their lights and he probably wanted to move over further left to give the cop space (regardless if the cop was on the shoulder). At 1:22 float looked and saw that he was fine, he was ahead of both the truck and the accord driver, and began to 1. deaccelerate (by 1:24 hes dropped 20mph and anyone pulling up on a cop and him should notice why the speed has changed) and 2. go into the leftmost lane. Also shortly after 1:22, the cop should be visible to the other guy. The accord driver ego driving to cut off that truck and even pass up float, does a stupid lane change at prob 100mph and on a curve, completely trying to show off in front of float and this put float at danger. Not saying all drivers should go this quick or that fast drivers always doing the right thing, but between him and wheres981 I think they know generally what they are doing and minimizing risk.
@float8x
@float8x Жыл бұрын
@@mehdiatalah9583 that is something that would never happen, swim would never put someone in a position to crash. Went to the left lane assuming that the cones continued to close and it only became one lane, which is typical for that area during construction. Then went back towards the right as soon as he saw him to try and give him the space. Also didn't believe he was crashing until you see his taillights. It's unfortunate but he was sliding way before the lane switch began. Also the ending audio disregards your claim.

For others its like being struck by lightning or winning lottery if they keep up. Dont chase us. These cars and the drivers themselves have skills beyond average. @jay77574
@jay77574 Жыл бұрын
A car being front-wheel drive does not determine whether or not it's going to spin under braking. Under braking all 4 wheels are braked regardless of which wheels are the driven wheels. I'm not trying to argue with you, since you make a valid point otherwise, I just want to point out that the spin was most likely caused by another factor - like the massive weight transfer under heavy braking with soft suspension, which seems more the case of what happened here.
