Are you ready for a behind-the-scenes look at what marriage counseling is REALLY like? We're taking the "Real Life" in Real Life Catholic to the next level. My wife, Natalie, and I are getting real, raw and vulnerable today. 🥸
We’re sitting down with our friend, Dr. Jim Langley, to show you what a typical marriage counseling session looks like. So many people are afraid to go to marriage counseling or they feel like going to counseling means their marriage is doomed, but it can be a super edifying experience! 😇
A major theme in this episode is being comfortable being vulnerable with your spouse and overcoming fears. It is by overcoming these fears that you can communicate better with your spouse, have the freedom to work through past or present issues, and ultimately lead each other to Heaven. We hope that by sharing our session with Dr. Jim, couples who are maybe afraid or on the fence about counseling will feel empowered to take the step in their marriage journey. 💒
Just remember: be real with yourself, be real with each other, and WORK AT IT!

Thank you Chris and Natalie for all you shared today. Being in a marriage of 50 yrs this all resonated with me. Please pray for my husband and I . I plan to share this with him and I ask God to open his heart to listen to this. Fighting is our weakness and I’m praying that this will open the path for us to work more on understanding each other even when we don’t agree. God Bless you both 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

This was very good. Having the love for the Lord at the center of a marriage makes all the difference in the world for the success of a marriage. I appreciate you guys sharing and being vulnerable before the whole world. Thank you! This was very good in that the dynamics of each one’s issues are able to be talked about and explored and I like the way Jim has been counseling them and understands soul dynamics. Sounds like they disagree often on parenting and I hope they discuss their parenting styles. Perhaps they need counseling on how to properly parent their children.

Chris, I watched this and even that I am a widower now I think this was awesome and wish I could have seen this 20-30 years ago. I hope many individuals watch this because I think it will help married couples. Congratulations on being able to love and care for each other that you both make it work to be married. God bless both you and Natalie. Art

Hi, does it make sense do counseling with spouse who is not honest, who doesn't any keep word given during meeting? All our counselors in the past made only worse in our marriage, either they where buying all my husband's nonsense and blaming me for all, or were forcing me to do some kind of agreements with my husband that never worked and then I had to carry all heavy consequences of letting my husband making decisions and etc...Im still in debt today and poverty after all bad advices.

Wish you'd replace the word "pis.....ed" with a nicer word like "ticked'. Otherwise, great video.

Hey Chris, We all know marriage takes three, sometimes marriages is a rocky road or smooth. Marriage is a sacramental journey to join in union and not what Pope Francis approved for Same Sex blessed for thier unions ( really) marriage is between male and female not male and male or female and female that is a mockery of that scaredness of sacrament of marriage.

I do not believe that Pope Francis gave a blessing to a same sex marriage. I believe that he simply blessed each person as an individual.. We should not make judgements. Christ loves everyone regardless of what they do. The blessing simply acknowledges this.

I don’t understand why everybody uses incorrect grammar, and says me and so and so me and so and so. I was raised with proper good English. You’re supposed to say so and so and myself or so and so and me but not me first that’s always been wrong and I don’t understand why you are older! Should know better. We’re Sloppy in our speech. The young kids do it there’s something wrong! We are supposed to be examples to the kids why is it that we use slap you slang English. We don’t have to use the Kings English or the queens English but we at least have to use proper grammar and I find that everybody’s sloppy these days. No one cares. I don’t think that’s good.

Agree. I see improper English used often. I’m soon to be 74 and learning proper English is not stressed in school any longer. I went to Catholic school. I was taught by nuns. It was the best education ever. Another misuse of pronouns is the word “us” being used when it should be “we” and vice versa. I don’t know why people using improper English gets to me except if a person is going to be in the public eye he or she ought to present being educated enough to warrant the privilege of “being on stage” so to speak. More stupid vs Stupider.

This is the first time I have seen this, but wonder the same thing on all podcasts with smart people. I hopefully learned proper grammar in school years ago ( in my70s now) and almost go crazy when I hear all of the improper English. It often momentarily distracts me and I was not an English major! Otherwise a great video!
