This was the "official" SEAL TEAM recruiting video the Navy would show you in the mid eighties through the early to mid nineties. I saw it first in Navy recruiters office around 85 or 86. I remember thinking it was really badass back then, like the first part where two SEALs jump out of the back of a fast moving boat with their gear in dry bags. And they do a clandestine beach infiltration. Keep in mind, in the real world to a lot of the stuff portrayed in this video would have been done at night, except for the BUD/S training scenes and jump school. Also, this video was done at the height of the Cold war, not during the GWOT after 911. The Navy had gotten rid of UDT TEAMs when this came out and everybody in NSW was called a SEAL. Their was one recruiting video before this one called "Men in green faces." That was the ORIGINAL SEAL recruiting video made at the height of Vietnam.

This was the recruiting video used in the mid-to-late 90s if I recall correctly. Still an amazing video and - just my opinion - the best recruiting video they have done.

I'd like to know the time they were filming. Late 1970s or early 80s ? I'm South Korean who experienced UDT/SEAL selection in 2002. I'm quite sure U.S.Navy frogmen program is most unique and efficient ever developed throughout Viet-Nam conflict. They're all ancestors still giving us inspiration.

I have a question, while working on an r d project for the navy in the early 80s. Many times the navy would come by and the contractor would wine an dine them . This night it was a game at Boston garden and they showed up late after the game. My machine was the only one in this factory building involved in this project. They had a brief meeting in a cage area by my machine. I was later told that the navy special operations had done a military style covert recon of the assets in the area including 2 bridges, factory settings, utility plants, water distribution and i would assume more. These were accessed by the harbor and were all within a mile and half. This was b4 the name seal. It was supposed to have started with a drop off in the harbor. Was this common in the early 80s. The people who i talked with at the time i believed them. The contractor is a very large one
@kb3jqz
@kb3jqz Жыл бұрын
yes, very common, any chance for training/practice, and also for a security check, and if it was in the 80's then they were SEALs, the SEAL teams we're formed in 1962, but the Navy didnt really openly admit to their existence until the late 80's and even then not a ton of info out there, i Joined in 1988 and the recruiters didnt have a whole lot of info to give me on how to get into the pipeline, but the kept requesting info and would get it as it released because that was what i was asking for during the recruitment process, I wanted to be a SEAL medic, (Hospital Corpsman). they honestly did everything they could to have me prepared before I left for Boot Camp

@@kb3jqz thanks for your service. In Lynn harbor you had major natural gas storage along harbor plus electrical transmission facility. Also a major water main supplying a couple of towns. Plus a major provider of U.S. NAVY'S reduction gearing, turbines, and aircraft engine provider. I was working on the prototype high speed reduction gearing for gas turbine to be used on the next class of destroyers. I honestly believe what I was told and it came from high level people on this project
