That's called a solar eclipse. It's actually quite painful to look directly at without required sunglasses for it, but with them, it's believed to look spectacular (never seen one for myself in person). I know that's not really what you asked, but I like to imagine a solar eclipse happens when the moon gets jealous of the sun and tries to hide the sun away from the planet because of it, which would technically be the sun and moon fighting.
