Brian Kelly (Simon Baker) learns from Kenya Denise McQueen (Sanaa Lathan) isn’t interested in dating him because of his race. However, he refuses to give up and takes Kenya on a hike where they share an intimate kiss.
Film Synopsis:
Kenya McQueen (Sanaa Lathan) thought she had it all: a successful career, good friends and family. There was just one thing she didn't have under control: her love life. All that changes when she meets sexy, free-spirited Brian Kelly (Simon Baker). But when her ideal man (Blair Underwood) arrives on the scene, Kenya must decide between the relationship everyone expects and the romance no one expected.

I remember being so thrilled that Simon Baker and Sanaa Lathan did this movie together. Both such phenomenal actors and their chemistry was amazing. It was so believable and heartfelt.

Then you’ll appreciate a Oprah interview they did about the movie. The studio audience (in unison said, “…aaawwhhh…” when they found out that Simone was married in real life. It was one of those hallmark moments, because they were not “Qued” to do that.

Kenya is driven. She also does what is expected of her. She sees herself with an equally driven and successful black man. Brian is a free thinker. He isn't bound by convention. Kenya later discovers that what she wants isn't what she needs. She needs an adventure. She needs Brian. (BTW, scientifically speaking, there is only one race - human.)

@@chasehedges6775 I see what you mean. Its like they cuts out too many scenes. They didnt give these two enough scenes to establish any kind of bond to where Kenya felt she is meant to be with him. Also the black tax stuff was overdone. It was just a bit meh. Good concept though. Wasted potential.

👀 I don’t think they’re ready for that type of movie 😂 after all, there was shot in the movie where a BM was kissing a WM during the restaurant scene where the female lead and her friends were talking about men. I doubt that interracial shot was added with positive intentions lol
