"Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I could jump out of bed, stroll down the street, go to the park and walk on some grass.
There is no pleasure in it at all. It's like a bad trip. Once you've started a bad trip that's it, you're on a downward spiral. There's nowhere to get off, you know? There's nowhere we can anchor here, there's nowhere we can duck in, so we're kinda committed. I'll be honest, it can get to you. And today's been one of those really, really, sh1tty days."

I enjoyed Jamie's whinge. I have experienced the same conditions so many times and it is extremely annoying, but it is always far more pleasant to watch someone else go through it. Schaudenfreude is a dish best served remotely 😄

I loved the still photos and video comparison you showed. Capturing a solitary moment in time. Rolly sails and rolly anchorages suck. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, not out idea of fun. I can honestly say it was one of the most uncomfortable passages we've ever done.

We have just finished sailing around Thailand. It was a great holiday but the humidity took some getting used to. Our discussion referenced how hard it must be for you two doing this stuff full time. It's hard work.

Thailand is beautiful to sail! Honestly though, Liz is finding the humidity more difficult to cope with as she gets older. It becomes more uncomfortable during the rainy season when the temperature on board doesn't drop much but hatches have to remain closed. That's when the dreaded mould sets in 😮

Hey I can understand the discomforts of a rolling sea but "a bad day on a boat" can be much worse than that. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Give thanks and count your blessings! 😃 Stay safe, together and enjoy the adventures!

Absolutely! We've had MUCH worse. But there's something about the relentless rolling at sea (or at anchor) that can really get you down. Especially when there's no wind and current against you. 🙄😆 Liz

Hey you’re tough !!! Tough shitty days are part of iife and I’m sure there’s plenty of people stuck in traffic or in dead end jobs in the middle of the night in a petrol station where the customer are particularly rude , or people who are guarding prisoners in the middle of the night in mouldy stinking prisons till they get to go home , fighting the noddies, then trying to stay awake in the traffic jam on the way home, it’s much better a bad day sailing than those jobs watching your life ebb by. You’re feeling life and sometimes it’s shitty seas as you know but the overall picture is wonderful . Best sailing is on a still lake but there’s no adventure to be had there . We’ve settled back into a house and enjoying it but my mind is still on those waves for some reason. My hearts with you on those confused seas. You’re my sailing heroes. Always great work . Struth that’s slop eh?

Delos had a hard-up wind passage and then at the destination all the anchorages were very rollie .

Yeah, we saw their episode just as we were finishing the editing on ours! Coincidence? Not really, there are more rolly and uncomfortable anchorages than we let on 🤷

100th almost-LIKE, 600th whinge-view... the roller coaster from which there's no easy exit. So - staying in the center of the boat is the least-roll spot, if you can manage from that spot, eh? Sloppy, lumpy, confused - all great descriptions of these sea conditions... 'a bad trip' (been there, done that).

Yes, being a centre-cockpit boat does help. But you still get that relentless and unpredictable rocking and rolling. It's a test of tedious endurement! 🙄😑 Liz

Nornally there are three degrees of motion but anyone who has spent time on a boat will know there are at least five:) Do you make your own bread? What's your secret? I tried to make some and it was inedible. I threw it overboard and it sank like a stone.

Can you not use an anti seize lubricant like Permatex when assembling for easy disassembly years later. Just a thought. Hopefully helpful.

I guess that mother nature throw a suck say sailing to remind you that it is not all fun and games on the water so that you can stay on your toes.. it sucks, but glad you made it through without getting hurt.

Not really. We're an old, heavy boat. In these conditions it's horrible for every boat, even cats! A trimaran might handle it better... 🤔 Liz

The question is wether those bad days at sea could ever make it worth it to go back to land life. Without the bad, you lose appreciation for the good. I don’t think I could live on a mono haul, because i think the bad would outweigh the bad. That’s why we’re saving up for a cat.

@@followtheboat not what I meant. A cat is more able to mitigate smaller waves, but not shit seas. I was referring to the accumulation of suck vs goodness. Available space, not heeling(biggest thing for me), more stable against wake at anchor. I’ll be the only dude with 4 women on board. Need comfort.
