This comic felt like it was written by a guy only vaguely familiar with Spider-Man and thought he had a lot of cool, never-before-seen ideas for the character and didn't realize he was writing some of the most tired cliches the character's been put through.

That's kind of J.J.'s thing given how he worked on Star Trek and Star Wars. Wars more so than Trek, at least in Trek he was told he had to make it different from the TV Show's cause of Legal issues. And I'm not kidding, look it up yourself if you want. No offense to the guy or his son, but they both seem to tread the same things and likewise don't really know all the most standout things about Spider-Man.

Yeah I only read like three issues and put it down pretty quickly. Besides this random girl just spouting junk like a pixie dream girl. Would've made more sense if she had powers too, or the child of another hero. Also Ben was really unlikable to me. I understood how Peter was a shell of himself. But Ben was kinda a dick for reasons not clear. What child immediately hates their parent more for being one of the worlds most recognizable super hero? It didn't read like a Spider-Man story at all.

@@jamalhartley5863 If you want a Kid of Spider-Man story that feels more in line with what 'Spider-Man' is. Get ahold of Tom DeFalco's Spider-Girl comics, I got a book that has the first several issues and it really shows how much of a difference there is with such a concept. Like for example, May (Spider-Girl) finds out about her not unlike Ben in this story, which is to say it kind of comes out of nowhere and has issues trying to grasp it fully and what it means, also has Peter retiring due to losing a limb, granted it's a leg rather than an Arm in this case, also it was by Green Goblin in her world that made him loose the limb and retire. And even still after confronting her Dad and Mom about the fact, after seeing how she really want's to do good because of her Old Man. They actually SUPPORT her in trying to take up the legacy he left behind! Heck, Peter even put's on the costume every once in a while if the situation calls for it! Not to mention the supporting cast for Mayday is more likeable. Even has a fan who tries to help out in Felicity Hardy who tries to take up the identity of Scarlet Spider for a time! And yes, Felicity is a HARDY, as in related to Black Cat type, her daughter in fact. Needless to say Spider-Girl by Tom DeFalco is something you will probably enjoy more if you feel this story was lacking in the 'Spider-Man' side of things.

@@dliatsos1 Yeah I'm familiar with Mayday, i enjoyed Spider-Girl it was dope and a clear continuation of the series with the heroes having children and stuff. Way more Spider-Man like. I mean that's why she was popular enough to have such an important role in Spider- Apocalypse

That's not, at his core, who spider man is. Hes the guy that fights. No matter what he does what is right. He lost Ben and fought. Hell hes lost worlds in many realities and still fought. That who the idea of spider man is. He has never been evil. Every hero has been bad for a issue or two. Spider man had to have a suit of of a alien to make him evil even then he broke free. Hes the ideal hero. More the Cap or Iron man.

I think that the "Peter giving up Spider-Man" idea is really really flawed, the entire point of his character is "with great power comes great responsibility", how would he give that responsibility up.

I feel that the problem with this story is that its just a streamlined version of the MC2 universe with Spider-Girl. Peter's last battle as Spider-Man results in him losing an appendage, he retires from being Spider-Man, His son/daughter inherits his spider-powers then picks up his mantle and carries out his legacy. Really the only thing(s) that are different is that Peter distances himself from his son and aunt (which is weird considering how Spidey's family and friends have always been his motivation), Mary Jane's supposed "death" and the inclusion of some overarching gene-altering plot.

Before these videos and my brother telling me how dark Spiderman was, I didn't know how awful Peter Parkers life is. The real world sucks, we need stories of heroes that get rewarded after a lifetime of saving people. We need hope.

Honestly I heard so much stuff about this story, how there was so much talk but not enough action and it was a really weird story? Yeah, looking at some pics and the story out of context? It’s pretty outlandishly weird. But as Benny said, once it’s ALL put together, it actually works! I really liked how this felt reminiscent to that old animated movie “the next avengers” which I loved growing up. Cool story though, love to see a sequel to this

There definitely needs to be a sequel to this series. The ending is almost reminiscent of Smallville where they cut it off before he dawns the suit (tho I like this better he already proved himself as spiderman )

They shot this comic dead when they teased it as being Spider-Man 4, they literally spawn killed the thing before it had a chance. Worst move they could've possibly made. How is a JJ comic going to live up to anything Raimi related? Honestly 90% of the people who were interested immediately bounced after finding out what it actually was.

Got done reading this series a week ago. It could've used an extra issue or two hinting at certain things such as that one random robot and how the Avengers came to be. Other than that, it's good. A grown up, completely-done-with-his-bullshit Riri Williams is great. Clearly an expy of Pepper but she absolutely rocks that business look.
