This scene is so sad yet heart warming. Superman knows that is his own son but doesn't use that knowledge to disrupt an existing family . It is kind of like Kal El giving his son a Human life with a loving family to know how it feels to be human just like how Jor El did with Kal EL . So Clark becomes Jor El to Jon whereas Jason becomes Joahnathan Kent .

My opinion: I didnt like the costume, hair, the way he flies, the cold breath, fortress of solitude, not modern day and the fact that EVERYONE likes him. What I LIKE about the film is his character development, drama, cares about the people and no killing. My Superman movie: his appearance would be like in MOS movie costume(dark blue costume) and no hair curls. No corny lines, make him say a joke at the appropiate time(not during a fight). Make him stuggle in society but doesnt give up(where some ppl love him and some hate him). No killing (maybe until the 3rd movie and retires for a bit). Add characters that can lighten the grounded tone, and dont make clark kent corny. Make him relatable. He would be like a messiah in a grounded universe, where inspires some people. Put him in a real world situation like oil rig scene. After a fight or a natural disasters, have him help people that are stuck or underground. Give him a character like bruce wayne in Dark knight trilogy where he actually cared for the people and tried not to kill. No cold breath. Villians that try misguide his moral code, and what he stands for. The flying would be like in Man of Steel where you could see the lines in the sky and hear the sky. Movie should have drama that superman returns had and with action like in man of steel(50/50). Have Jonathan Kent and Jor El inspire him to care about the people, and have martha be scared that he shows his powers. Make Jonathan kent death more meaningful. His hideout would be a ancient ship that he found with kryptonian tech and Not the fortress of solitude. Dont care if its not comic book accurate. Try to film more outside with special effects and less green screen. Like maybe filming in different countries, so that it can feel and look real. Hans Zimmer music.

Reeve made a big point on Superman being that gentlemen, neighbor, or friend who "is always around," if you will. When people cry for a savior, what we have to offer each other is, foremost, a friend. Having someone stronger or faster is something we can look up to. Superman embodies the greatness we can achieve when shown the way. Our capacity for good is what we can identify most with the character.

I don't think people REALLY understand that ‘Superman Returns’ (2006) was a direct sequel to ‘Superman 2.’ That's why Luthor knows where the Fortress of Solitude is and how Superman knocked up Lois. Most people I hear say that they just didn’t really like how Brandon Routh portrayed Superman, but Brandon Routh captured the spirit of Chris Reeves perfectly. He looks just like him at that age (Reeves was also in his late 20s during the filming of the first 2 movies) and totally sold me on this being the same boy scout/awkward dork character from those films. I agree Kate Bosworth was miscast being too young to play Lois (she was 23, while Margot Kidder was older than Reeves during the earlier movies), but as far as acting goes she, much like Routh, captured old Lois very well. Luthor seducing a rich old lady to get him out of jail and inherit her money sounds like something he'd do in the past movies. It's absurd comedy! A staple of the old films. And most people complain that the ending was quick and convenient when that was the case with the earlier films as well (time reversal, anyone?). Overall, I love this movie and it gets more shit than it deserves.

That's what I thought. She clearly didn't remember him as clark kent since he kissed her to remove memories of his secret identity.
@The_Mighty_Fiction3 ай бұрын
@@ryancute22 Yeah, but that's exactly what confused things. Look at it from Lois' point of view. She loses, what?... couple of days of her memory, Superman vanishes from the face of the Earth, she discovers she's pregnant, years later, Superman returns around the time she discovers her son can throw a piano? Were I her, I would have questions. The fans certainly did. The son was the hardest pill for them to swallow, I think. I felt 'Returns,' beautiful as it was, was too much of a love letter to the Reeve movies. It should've been more of a transitional movie between Reeve's pre- and Routh's post-Crisis Superman, allowed Brandon room to develop his Superman from that starting point through the second and third acts, even put him in a new 'John Byrne' version of the suit to call his own by the end.

Kevin Arco I'm with you, but MoS failed when it comes to Box Office numbers. Let's be logic, the studio rebooted the franchise for $225 millions budget to make $443 millions. It doesn't sound as a successful move to me. Even by putting Batman alongside Superman, they can't make $1 billion, which is a shame for the studio. Captain America is not as known as Superman or Batman, but Marvel Disney figured a way to make it work. MoS was a failure and time proved it. Superman Returns is a deep movie, with great scenes, emotions and story. MoS had no emotion, just buildings collapsing on each other....

I know Chris Reeves but never watched his movies so this was the Superman i grew up with. It was the perfect way to continue from the old movies while reintroducing Superman to modern audiences. Especially with the familiar Lex as the villain with Kryptonite to establish the basics before using the other more powerful villains in future. Really wish we got a sequel.

I guess cartoon Invincible could be treated as a sequel if you are a pessimist. But it would be cool to see Superman grow out of surviours guilt and other trauma and become more honest with Lois.

I don't understand why this movie was rated a "failure" the superman flying scenes were spectacular, even better than man of Hollywood can destroy a very opportunity in career with so much promise.brandon routh was a excellent superman

I love the ending. They pay homage to Christopher Reeve by having this Superman fly into space and over the earth like he did in the first 4 films. No so much in Man of Steel though.

And now at 2020, I think it’s the best time to do a Superman Returns part two. Subtitled “son of steel.” Bring back these same performers and a storyline that involves a married Lois and Clark getting along as husband and wife, with a vengeful Lex Luthor coming back into the fold of things and having a plan of robbing their child from them, only to be met with an eventual end... by the hands of...the son of steel. Like father, like son. 😇😎✊✌️
