This is a true oldschool bard. At the beginning his voice is powerful, clear, and tells a story with beauty and intrigue. I would listen to an entire album of this.

For me, this is the definitive version of this. The harmonies are absolutely perfect, spine tingling stuff. How this doesn’t have 10s of millions of views I have no idea.
@celildemir79116 ай бұрын
the only reason why it didn't have millions of views is because it has no video related to the vikings. As if, it is like friends reunion.

This song inspired me while listening to it a few times (okay, many times). Just felt it needed..more lines? This will probably never be seen and thats fine. I enjoyed writing them :) Verse 1 My mother told me Someday I will buy Galley with good oars Sail to distant shores Stand up on the prow Noble barque I steer Steady course to the haven Hew many foe-men, hew many foe-men Verse 2 My mother told me That I will never bow, Standing tall and proud, The warhorn calls a-loud Banners on the height, Kinsmen show no fear, Steady course to the haven, Hew many foe-men, hew many foe-men Verse 3 My mother told me, Someday I'll be King, Armies to fight wars, Taking distant shores Seated on my throne, Kingdoms come to kneel, Steady course to the haven, Hew many foe-men, hew many foe-men Verse 4 My mother told me, Someday I would fall Those who claim my life, Will pay a heavy price Raven wings shall guide me Ancestral calls I hear Steady course for the haven, Hew many foe-men, hew many foe-men Verse 5 My mother told me, Someday I would die On a Galley set aflame, The world recalls my name To Odin's halls I'll sail, In Valhalla, past the Veil Steady course to the haven, Hew many foe-men, hew many foe-men..

This is the English version of the song Finehair and Halfdan sang at the end of 510, in which they sang in 409. It's from the Egils Saga, Chapter 40. By the way, marvelous cover! "Thus counselled my mother, For me should they purchase A galley and good oars To go forth a-roving. So may I high-standing, A noble barque steering, Hold course for the haven, Hew down many foemen."

@@Sindraug25 I don't think Uthred is a very good Viking. When do we ever see him pray to the Gods or celebrate a Blot? And all that fighting for Christians irritates me. It's people like him that are responsible for the decline of our real Gods in Europe. No offense intended.
@Sindraug254 жыл бұрын
@@JasminaRoxaneovic I only meant that it's an enjoyable TV show. I don't know enough about actual Viking traditions to say who is or isn't setting a good example.
@JasminaRoxaneovic4 жыл бұрын
@@Sindraug25 I know that's what you meant, that's why I said no offense intended. And indeed it's an enjoyable show. Don't mind me, I'm just one of those more serious about this stuff. My family is of Norse descent and my mother adorned me with the hammer of Thor, which I have not taken off ever. We celebrate the original Norse Blots, we offer up to our beloved Gods, complete with make up and leaves in our hair. We despise Christians and their original sin, and everything they took from us. We congregate with other Europeans that follow the old ways. We have music festivals and many other events where we celebrate our religion. SO, when we see a guy like Uthred, who (apparently) is not a Christian because of his Danish upbringing etc. and who is living in that time, we find him seriously, I mean SERIOUSLY lacking. In following his tradition and in his whole attitude. No Norseman or Dane would be so Christian minded. But anyway. It's a nice show. But I like Vikings better.
@Sindraug254 жыл бұрын
