They are ethnically close to Lao people in Laos.

Thailand, Laos, and South China were once one bigger Thai kingdom called Ayuthaya. Meanwhile Vietnam and Cambodia were another united kingdom called Funan. Laos was once part of a Thai kingdom. But then, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Southeast China became a French colony. Burma, Thai Peninsula, Northeast India, Bhutan, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangladesh were once a single British Colony.

They are ethnically and culturally closer to Laos and Shan state in Myanmar than Thailand.

Well, I haven’t experienced similar event in Jiangsu, but I think it's different with the Dai culture. Maybe I'll go there someday. :)

Not really. There are residents of multiple ethnic groups in China, and we can see different traditional cultures in some area especially during their festivals. However, there are fewer people inheriting the traditional cultures, not sure if we still can see it in next decades. I'll show more different cultural area and activities in future video. I can finally travel normally after the lockdown over. :)
