I was only 12 in 2013 and I already felt those times were futuristic. Everything started circling around smartphones, memes, technology was so advanced already: look at video-games coming out this year like The Last of Us, Beyond: 2 Souls, GTA V. Mainstream music got more vulgar and naughty (look at some of the biggest hits and their mv's of 2013: Work B*tch, Blurred Lines, Can't Stop and youths in general I think started to be more interested in urban rap rather than pop music). I just don't count 2013 as early 2010s cause it was so different from 2010-2012 in so many ways. It already felt like a different era. I love how 2013 was a peak year of EDM in mainstream: singles from Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Selena Gomez and Britney Spears recorded EDM albums. I can't believe 2013 was already 10 years ago. I gotta admit that I still consider 2010-2012 as the best part of 2010s, not only in music ;) But 2013-2017 wasn't that bad either, a lot of bops, electronic music, vibes and memories. For me 2018 is when music really started to get worse and it last till nowadays. I don't say there wasn't good songs in 2022 or 2018. I just say that pop music from 2018 is some kind of joke to me. There's barely anything happening. 2010-2012 was hit after hit after hit and those songs were innovative, catchy, bubbly and original. From 2018 I feel like each year I find barely few songs I really like, cause music is so blunt to me these days. It's like music producers ran out of ideas after decades of experimenting with music, so in consequence music music since arouns 2020 doesn't sound like anything new at all. I hear new songs these days and they sound like something which could've come out already between 80's-10's. And it isn't a compliment cause all those attempts to make music 80ish, 90ish, 00ish or 10ish sound like a Wallmart version of the true songs coming out during these respective decades. The only song in 2021 that sounded really modern to me and like totally something innovative was Cambia El Paso from JLo. Anyway, I better stop complaining. Long story short, for me 80s, 90s, especially 00s and early 10s was a peak era of music for me, 2013-2017 was a little worse but still GREAT and music from 2018 is some kind of joke to me, sorry. If I was to enumerate 2013's songs I loved from 2013 i had to write like 100 of them? It'll be easier for me to just highlight my fave albums: *Selena Gomez- Stars Dance *Ciara- Ciara *Demi Lovato- Demi *Cassie- RockaByeBaby *Britney Spears- Britney Jean *Ewelina Lisowska- Aero-Plan (Polish singer) Of course Avicii, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris were on fire that year too 😊 and MANY more One more thing, I already predict 2023 is going to be hella boring in pop music taken the fact how 2018-2022 was, so I'm just going to ignore the fact it's 2023 already and I'll be just reliving 2013's music as it was brand new 😇
