Swim freely-- just for now. We are only as limited as our imaginations. It's why we write freely and draw what we see in our minds. Every moment is an experience. Hold onto it for all it's worth-- because tomorrow it may be gone forever.

"All mythical creatures never existed." At least, that' what is says in the history books. They did, their forms lost. But their blood passed to few. Those who enjoy the forest unusually more than others. Those who run a little faster than average. Those who can hold their breaths a little longer. Then those, like me, whose voice is a little sweeter, more honey-like than humanly possible. That's the truth. But, it's possible, for few. For those like me. I smiled into the ocean, and took a deep breath, possibly my last, and jumped into the water. I didn't _want_ to open my eyes, yet I forced myself to. I realized, I didn't need to hold my breath. Sure, I didn't have a tail, and the sirens look down upon me for it, but I did have one thing they didn't have: A target, and a reason to drown this god forsaken sailor.

You know in the real world you can see it everywhere where people have little tidbits of mythical creatures in them. That one kid that loves the forest, the grace of a dancer as if they have the wings of a fairy, the nice old lady that can always keep plants alive, the one person who loves to swim a little too much, the person that isnt afraid of the dark but instead loves it.

POV: Icy saltwater churns against my face as my flowing tears fall to join the sea. My tail cuts through the waves in powerful strokes and I desperately fight against the raging current, my seashell studded dagger pressed to my chest. Not long ago, I had dreams of a beautiful future, a life with my lover under the stars. Today, that changed forever. He was a sailor, with cerulean eyes that shone even brighter than the moon. Those eyes were filled with amazement and wonder the day we met, taking me in as he locked my gaze. He had anchored his ship with a sudden force that sent sea spray lapping against the rocks upon which I was siting. Fear had surged through me as he stepped off, and my fingers froze, halfway through braiding pearls in my hair. I had never met anyone like him before, anyone brave enough to approach a siren. My whole life I had been taught to weave enchanting stories through song, to lure men into quiet madness before they could reveal the hidden truths of our world. It was the only way to remain safe, unthreatened. But something about him was different, strangely comforting. So I never sang, and we just sat there, talking as we watched the sunset. I trusted him with my life, my love, and everything I had. He betrayed me. He sought to exploit us, expose us. He spun tales about mermaids to wealthy merchants, promising business in the healing powers of our blood and lockets made from our scales. Now we are hunted, no longer an old legend. And I have to be the one to set things right. I will sing until my voice breaks and my lips bleed raw. I will fight to protect my family. I will put my blade through his heart. Never again will I trust.

She wasn't a monster. Legends said she caused shipwrecks and tragedies. While that was true, she only was cruel to those who deserved it. Those pirates irritated her tremendously. With their 'take what we want' attitude. They caused more havoc than she, yet the bad light shone on her none the less. In reality, her people were kind and peaceful. They helped the lost souls and punished the wicked. Often, men, women, and children would come to the water with their despairs and hurt. They would come lonely and afraid. She would invite them into her home. Allowing them to breath under the salty water with a kiss, marking them with her trust and love. She would take them into the deep and they would talk to her. After their stories are heard, they go back up to the surface, never to tell anyone of what happened. Lest they die, for the kiss remains only if they are true and refuse to tell anyone of her, for the surface dwellers are wicked, and will come and hunt her kind for their beautiful scales. She didn't get many people to talk to, unlike the rest of her kind. For she was different. Umiko, was her name and she was not as beautiful as the rest of her kind. She shared the pale blue complexion of her people, but it was not as glowing and vibrant as she was born with a strange skin condition. Her hair was also a curly, short, white crown, that sat like a bird's nest on her head. She wears a white crop-top with flowing off-the-shoulder sleeves, that billow in the breeze, and follow behind her when she moves. Eyes and tail navy as the ocean's cold water at midnight. A child of only 16 years. Yet, siblings came to her. Orphans. Abandoned by their birth parents. A boy of age 12 and his sister of 6. They came to the water all the time. The girl, who went by the name of Iris, thought she was the most beautiful creature ever to exist. And her brother, who goes by the name Mars, liked that his sister was brought joy by this mysterious being. They never ceased to show up. The little girl facing the terrible sickness of cancer, and the doctors aren't sure how long she'll make it. Her brother just wanting her to have the best childhood as possible, and confides in Umiko with his concerns. Umiko likes having their company and is very fond of the both of them. In a way she was like an older sister to them. It's only unfortunate, that they couldn't be real sirens, as when they leave the girl of the ocean, she is lonely and cold. A slave to watching the rest of the children's kind ruin her home.

You know how with other playlists that are like for ur inner fairy, ghost, spirit ppl who listen to say 'oh this is my element, im in my element' this is what is it like to me. Actually mermaid and siren souled people are surprisingly little and mermaids are really boiled down to just a pretty childhood phase or pretty vibrant colors and not someone feeling at home and being themselves. It sounds dumb, like im protecting and asking for "mermaid rights" but thats just how i feel

I thought this one would creep me out but instead it has left me with an unbearable sense of longing for the ocean. I was born near the foothills of the Himalayas, miles and miles away from the sea. This is you daily reminder that originally, sirens in greek mythology were lady-birds cursed by Demeter to live in an island with no possibility of going anywhere until a ship could sail past without wrecking. Cursed with their magnificent voices, which caused sailors to loose any sanity and thought that wasnt about hearing more of the beautiful sound, sailing directly into the rocks, they were destined to be exiled forever. Many translators of the Odissey have changed the extract of the book in which Odysseus' ship sails past their island, to describe them as more sensual and with "Honey like voices that pour from their lips", instead of beautiful songs from their mouths; this to appeal more to the modern era, in which the imagery of sirens got mixed with that of mermaids, who appear in anglo-saxon folklore as the beautiful ladies with tails of fish. But in the original myths, it is said that the reason why the voices of the sirens were so alluring, besides their magnificent sound, was because they knew everything that there is to happen, and they lured humans in to share the incredible weight that knowledge caused them.

“Captain!! *CAPTAIN*” A ringing slap across my right ear had me sprawling to the deck of my cabin, disoriented and in a dream-like haze. Coming back to reality, I saw the door to my quarters being locked and barred by Rusti, shaking like the last leaf clinging to a tree branch the eve of the Autumn Equinox. A staunch barrel of candle-wax readily being pried open by the now anxious looking Chen Brothers, both of whom were muttering back and forth in erratic bits of Chinese, sounding either like a short prayer or a long talk with a god I didn’t know of. Marlene Pendergast, our Yardie sniper, was wearing soundproof headphones and polishing her blunderbuss with a solemn glower in her eyes. Atlas Macintosh, our Scot galley cook and resident blithering storyteller, remained silent as the grave; a sure sign we were in peril, as nothing in the world other than the odd splash of rum would silence Mac before now. We all knew the risks sailing out this far in the Grecian waters. We just didn’t want to believe in fairy stories. Mermaids, sea ghouls, devil fish of the Deep Blue.. they didn’t exist. If that was true, then what was harmonizing outside our port and starboard windows as we drifted through a long, dark night of unease and terror?

"Melody? MELODY!" This isn't the first time she's gone missing. Melody was always so strange, even as a little kid. None of the other village children understood her. Even I don't understand her still, and I've been her best friend for years. They don't understand me either, but there's something about Melody that just draws you in. They don't bother her like they bother me. She's on the beach, again. Somehow, I just know that she's going to be here, every time. She's standing in the surf, waves churning around her ankles. It's better than the time she disappeared for a whole day, and then we found her washed up on the rocks. I almost died of fright. But the ocean has never scared her or hurt her like it hurts so many of us. "MELODY!" I grab her arm, pulling her out of the water. It's useless to call for her. She's born without hearing. They say it's because God wanted something from her family and they didn't give it. But I don't think that's true. No curse would make Melody what she is. She's something entirely else. I've never known what, but I know it exists. She looks at me, hair drifting across her face. She's let it down again, even though she knows it'll get tangled and salty from the sea air. She's never seemed to care about that, somehow. The look on her face scares me for a second, and then it vanishes. Her eyes sharpen, she has such pretty eyes, a pale green like the sea-glass that washes up on shore sometimes. She grabs my arm tightly, staring intensely into my eyes. "Toni... I'm going to leave one day. I have to. You understand, don't you?" I don't. I never have understood Melody, and to this day, I think I never will. But the look on her face, so pale and unearthly and insistent, makes me only nod. Melody could make anyone do anything. All she has to do is look at you and you're under her spell. "Of course you do..." I find myself replying, even though I don't know what she means at all. She nods, her grip relaxing and turns to the ocean once more. She touches her fingers to her lips and waves the kiss out to the wind. Her hair swirls around her, tossed in the wind. Her skirt billows around her ankles. I'll never forget her figure, standing there that day. Her figure, silhouetted against the harsh, grey sky, her hair stretched out towards the ocean. She looked even more like a creature who never belonged on earth. Her skin was marble white as she looked back at me, face carved into something that wasn't human. We'd always found it odd that she didn't look much like her mother... She disappeared one day. Vanished without a trace. No note, no warning. We combed the beach for weeks. She never washed up, this time. Her mother wept, inconsolable for days. Her whole family mourned her loss, but I never could. My feet would take me down to the beach, when I thought of her. I'd stand in the water, the surf up to my ankles, staring out at the skyline. Call me insane, call me a fool... But it was always then that I swore I could hear a strain of song, so sweet and so beautiful it washed all my troubles away. Melody always had such a beautiful voice...

Mermaid's Cove. That was the nickname we had for the part of the beach where the sand met the craggy rocks of the cliff face. Where the waves crashed furiously even on the calmest day. For centuries there had been stories, myths and legends of mermaids singing on the rocks, pirate ships filled with rogues seeking adventure, smugglers hiding treasures in the caves beneath the cliffs. All of them were untrue of course. But there were still those who believed. Children who played pretend games. Adults who indulged in and carried on the myth. Elderly locals who swore that in their youth, they had heard the songs of the mermaids. It was said that on the mornings after a storm, as the winds eased, you could hear the songs of the mermaids; singing of the wonders of the seas and lands beyond the horizon. Even now, as the dawn broke, there were those down on the beach. I looked at the group of men and boys on the beach. Most of them were scavenging for driftwood, anything of use that could have washed up after the storm. Some were exercising, running across the sand. All of them were those who didn't believe. Because if they had believed, they wouldn't have stepped onto the beach this morning, You see, there is a difference between mermaids and sirens. Mermaids were the simpering idiots of make believe, who thought a human was worth saving. Sirens, we are real. We sing our songs and claim what is ours. This is our beach. This is our sea. The morning after the storm was our time, our sacred time to step upon the land. And yet, they trespassed. They would pay. To hear the song of the siren would enchant any man to obey our whims and commands. I pulled myself onto a rock and began to sing. Come here. Come to me. Stay with me. Forever...

Im loving this so much.... I was a siren in a past life and my lover was a sailor, I still remember. I lived on land for a bit I had a daughter and a baby boy but my husband left to go back to the sea. He was caught in a hurricane and died, I was so overcome by grief. I didnt want to live anymore I threw my baby in the well and left my baby girl at the shore. I went back to the sea as well,I regret it to this day I shouldn't have killed my baby or left my daughter all alone. I just couldn't handle it, my children reminded me of my dead lover I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to go to the deepest part of the sea and just be alone in my sorrow. I couldn't even do that, I was captured by the survivors from the same ship my husband died in. As if I didn't feel as terrible as I did they blamed me for the other deaths and called me an imposter since I wasn't actually human. Their accusations angered me. How could I do that to the one that I love? My one and only... They shouldn't have survived. I began my song and led them astray from their destination, they were wrong to imprison me and blame an innocent. I took them down with me one by one their hand in mine as I drag them to to their death. I would've succeeded in killing them all, but one of them broke out of their trance and caught his breath in the water. He clawed at my neck, damaging my gills. I was starting to have trouble breathing but we were already so deep in the ocean I didn't think I would make it in time to break to the surface and revert to my human body. He gave me a weak taunting smile like telling me we would both die and he brought me down with him. I closed my eyes and surrendered and went as deep as I could go. "We'll be together soon my love" I whispered as I slowly lost consciousness. My blood covering me like a veil. I sighed out my last breath as a siren, a wrongfully accused widow, a mother.... Coincidentally I have trouble breathing in this life and I almost died as a baby because I couldn't breathe. Im in choir and I love to sing with all my heart and hate injustice. I've been singing for as long as I can remember. The sea just calls to me its like my drug. But I have a fear of ships sinking and drowning... And I also did past life regression, I felt so many emotions. I cried when I saw my children in past life regression, literal tears were pouring down my face and I didn't know why. But the story became clearer.

She stood out on the deserted beach, tears quietly streaming down her face, gazing into the glassy sea. She watched as the black sheets of crystal crashed up on the shore. She liked coming out here, not only because of the smell and sound of the ocean, but because of the isolation as well. The beach had been long since abandoned, especially during the night. It was her happy place, the place where she didn't need to have any walls built up. She was snapped out her thoughts, as she picked up what she could've _sworn_ was the sound of someone singing. Frowning slightly, and wiping the tears away, she moved away from the shore, and onto the small dock. She stepped out, at least 30 feet from the sand, and peered out across the water. She could've sworn-wait, no, there it was again. Far, far off. A faint male voice, singing in a beautiful, unknown language. She looked around, trying to find something she could use to investigate the source of the sound. A spike in volume caused her to nearly launch herself off the dock, but she thought better of it. There might not even be anything there, and she certainly wasn't going to swim out into the ocean in the middle of the night. She resolved to come back tomorrow night, to see if she could really hear the voice, or if she was going crazy. Reluctantly, she turned to leave, casting one last gaze at the sea before she was gone. The next day, she decided that it was some strange sleep-deprived hallucination. She couldn't wait to go back out to the beach tonight, though. But not because she thought the voice would return. No, definitely not. When she got home, she rushed to prepare for running down to the beach. She paused her rushing to observe one of the pictures on her desk. Her, and _him._ With a small scowl, she pulled the photo out of it's frame, ripped it down the middle, and threw him in the trash, where he belonged. She reinserted the half of the photo she wanted to keep, and then continued on her way. She drove down to the beach, and walked back to the dock. She walked out to the end, her sandals slapping on the damp wood, and sat down. She waited, kicking her feet over the somewhat still water, listening for any indication that she _hadn't_ been hallucinating last night. After what _must_ have been at _least_ half an hour, she sighed, standing and starting back towards her car. She knew it. She was just being stupid. As she stepped off of the dock, she heard it again. It started a little farther off, but grew slightly closer, and slightly louder. She sprinted back down the dock, looking out over the sea again. Her eyes scanned the waves, searching for anything, but she didn't see anything. Disappointment swam in her eyes, along with determination, curiosity and no small degree of surprise. It wasn't loud enough to clearly hear, but she certainly wasn't imagining it. She slightly hummed what she could make out, noting that the tune was nothing she'd ever heard before. She told herself that it had to be someone either messing with her, or maybe someone on a boat? She couldn't see anything to support either of those theories, though, and she couldn't really convince herself they were true. Something was happening, something.. magical. This process repeated itself, she'd go to work, suffer through her job, rush home, and then spend the rest of the night at the beach, listening to the ocean's call. After a week, the voice suddenly stopped. It was on the third day she made a rash decision-she pooled some of her money together, and rented a small boat, to venture out in pursuit of the mysterious voice. She managed to get a ways out to sea-to the point where she could barely see the dock anymore. She looked around, waiting desperately for the voice to reappear, but no avail. She couldn't bear it anymore, so, perhaps foolishly, she started yelling, as if the sea would answer her call. "Come back! Please!" No response. "Hello?" Her voice rang out over the waves. "Please?" It was nothing more than a whimper. She stood and looked over the edge, gazing into the dark, murky abyss. She didn't know what she expected. It was water. This was stupid. She was stupid. Why did she come out here, again? For some stupid figment of her own imagination? She rubbed her arms, finally starting to feel the chill of the night. She turned, and realized she must've drifted farther than she thought. She couldn't see the shoreline anymore. She spun, maybe this was just the wrong angle-nope. She really was stuck. Fear added to the chill in the air, as she sat back down to try to keep warm, and figure out what to do. She started to sniffle as she devolved into a bit of a panic, her mind running through all the possible scenarios. She tried to reason with herself, maybe she'd wash back to shore, or she'd be seen by someone else, but the fear was overwhelming. She was hyperventilating now, having fully convinced herself that she was going to die. She let out a choked sob, putting a hand over her mouth-and freezing in place. A voice cut out through the near silence, over the waves lapping against the boat. It was the loudest she'd ever heard the song, and her sobbing was immediately reduced to quiet sniffling so she could hear better. Her panic was momentarily forgotten as she listened to the singing-his singing. Now that she was out here, nearer to the source, she could tell that the voice was distinctly male. She still couldn't understand him, but it was better than nothing. She didn't know what, but something compelled her to look back into the water, and stick her hand in. She reached over the side of the boat, dipping her fingertips into the water. It was cold, but not unpleasantly so. She stuck her hand in further, submerging her wrist fully. She waited for a moment, nothing happening. The voice grew louder, more enchanting. She shifted, wanting to fully enter the ocean, and surround herself in nothing but water and song. She tipped over the edge of the boat, headfirst into the sea. She spread her arms, drifting downwards, eyes closed. The music was amplified under the surface, nearly to the point where she could feel nothing else. She slowly opened her eyes, and they widened in shock. She gasped slightly-terrible idea, mind you, what with her being submerged fully in water. She was face to face with the most beautiful creature she'd ever seen-he had the top half of a human-er, well, it wasn't really _half,_ per se, but you get the point-and the lower body of what looked to be a shark. His tail was at least 10 feet long, and covered in scars. This wasn't even the most impressive part, though-it was his face. He had the most gorgeous features she'd ever seen on anyone, man or woman. His eyes were the best part, though-they were a bright purple. Nearly royal purple. He swam closer, still singing, and took ahold of her face. His fingers were long, webbed, and had sharp claws on the end, but he didn't even scratch her. She watched, entranced, as he leaned down, and gently kissed her. Her eyes snappend open-then shut, as she melted into it, before a searing pain shot through her body. She was barely half conscious, but as she passed out, she felt him take ahold of her, and swim deeper into the depths. She wasn't sure what would happen to her now, but even though she should be facing somewhat certain death, she didn't have a bad feeling about this. She wasn't fully sure, but somehow, she didn't think she'd come to regret answering the call of the siren.

Inspired by this entire playlist basically 😂 Sirens. They were simply myths. My grandfather used to tell me the stories of his young days, he even said he saw one. As a young boy, I believed him. I loved the idea of myths, of things we thought were unnatural, being real. It was exciting. But I grew up and grew hard. Nowadays I would hear the men in the bar rage on about supposedly catching a sight of a beauty with a simmering tail, her voice other worldly; enough to drive you mad. Something undeniable washes over you, it's just too strong to resist. Or at least, those were the words of some drunk red haired man who supposedly escaped her haunting grasp. I simply shook my head and laughed heartedly. Until months later, I found myself on a ship. The sun abandoned us, leaving us in a veil of darkness. All of the crew was sleeping soundly, some on their hammocks below deck and other lied around with empty bottles of alcohol surrounding them. “Idiot,” I muttered, tripping over Fredrick as I made my way across deck. Once again sleep failed to grace me with its presence, I hoped the gentle pull of the waves against the ship would be enough to lure me to oblivion as I stared out over the dark sea; moonlight glinted slightly on the ripples of water as it peeked between heavy clouds. Then I heard it. I felt a fuzzy feeling in my stomach, it was driving me insane. I was restless, I ran my hands through my hair; my eyes searching for the source that sent euphoria through me. To my right, I found her. Glowing purple hair, tumbled over her shoulders and covered her breasts. She was perched on a rock, I hadn't even realised we were so close to land but I didn't care. She raised her hand, beckoning me to come closer with a single finger. She showed her teeth, they were like razors. I was too far gone, the deck disappeared beneath me and I fell into the welcoming arms of the ocean. Never to be seen again.

The singing can be heard from outside. Our bodies clawing and struggling as we are tied to the boat. Whispers and sounds of heaven enter my thoughts. They tell me they'll give me money, love, and fame. I look around me and see, I see that everyone's just like me. No matter how much we've accomplished, gold, members, maps, clothes, we don't care, we want more. I look ahead of me and see two men escape their ropes. I want to be freed, I want to go towards their haven, their ecstasy, their euphoria. I want what they say they'll give me. "LET ME OUT!" I call out to them. They look at me and smirk, knowing that they'll get all the gold to themselves. They ignore my cries and head up to the docks. I hear them gasp and laugh as if they've hit the jackpot. Two loud splashes are heard. This man and I are the last two to not have been able to escape this treacherous rope. He sits still and watches me try to escape. The ropes suddenly becomes loose and a grin sweeps across my face. The rope falls onto the floor and I start running. A huge overbearing weight falls onto my back and I fall to the floor. My head smacks against the floor, causing blood to rush out of my wound. The singing slowly fades away, I know we're getting further. I look behind me to see the man on top of me. He's far too strong for me. "LET ME GO! I WANT TO BE RICH!" I continuously yell over and over again. He doesn't respond. Can he even hear me? I look at his ears but he doesn't have plugs in them. I stop struggling and observe him. He gets off me and we head up to the docks. I don't even remember why I was so intent on leaving. I look over at the captain. He steers the wheel, navigating against the waves. The captain takes deep breaths and takes out his ear plugs. He walks over to us and starts doing weird movements with his hands to the man. The man quickly responds with his own hands. It's as if it were some sort of hand language. The captain turns to look at me and places his shoulder on mine. "Boy, people will tell stories of us one day." "But captain, what about your crew? They're all dead!” He chuckles, "Not all of them." He places his hat on my head, "You live on. So tell our story.” - I spot an old man on a HUGE ship with a captain’s hat on. He looks about 40. I see a pirate flag fly above him. My face glows. Some crew members laugh at me as I run up to the captain. From a far distance, his hat looks nice. However, from up close, his hat looks rugged. I scratch my head and furrow my eyebrows. "Captain, why is your hat so old?" He smirks at me with a knowingly smile and takes off his hat, revealing a scar on his head, "Sit down, boy. Let me tell you our story."

A princess crosses the deck of her ship. Fog surrounding her. She was told not long ago to shut out any sounds she heard. As she walked slowly toward the edge of the ship to look out into the void of fog and silent waters a song began to flood into her ears. The voice of an angel, a priest in her kingdom would describe it as. No, a voice of a siren, a sailor would say. Suddenly her judgement was clouded by this song. A glow in the deep ness of her ocean eyes. Whether it was an angel or a siren one thing was clear, she was beautiful in her song. Curiosity filled her mind. And without the full realization of it the princess had walked the plank. There was no fear or sadness in the princess’s mind in fact there was only comfort. It felt like an eternity as she stood at the end of the plank. She raised her arms up at her sides. Surrendering herself to the pull. Sailors always said the siren’s song would lead you to your death. But maybe that was never true. Maybe that was just their imagination or maybe it was just a tale. Her eyes closed and without even sucking in a breath she let herself fall toward the deep and endless ocean. Would this be her fate or would it be a beginning to something better? (Sorry y’all I am not good at writing but my imagination was running and I wanted to contribute to the beautiful comments)

A prince was walking along the shore, when all of a sudden an alluring voice started singing. He was curious as to who had such a lovely voice. So, he followed the voice and it led him to a cave. There sat a mermaid, with her back to him, stroking her long hair. It looked as though her tail was stuck in between rocks. "Hi there." The prince said and the mermaid stopped singing. "Who are you?" The prince got closer to the mermaid in order to see her face, but as he touched her shoulder, a hand with sharp claws grabbed it. Fear ran through the princes veins. When the mermaid turned around, the prince screamed. He thought that the mermaid would have a beautiful face like her voice, but he was mistaken. Her cheeks had slits on them and were fluttering around. Her teeth, instead of pearly whites, he saw razors. And that was the last thing he saw. The kingdom had looked for the prince everywhere. But he was nowhere to be found. When one of the guards stumbled upon the cave, the only thing he saw was the head. The head of the now dead prince.

It got to the point where my uncle had to go with me so I wouldn’t drown. However I hated being taught to swim in regular pools. I liked learning in lakes and oceans. My mom used to call me mermaid because everytime I took a bath I never wanted to get out. I remember when I was little I would try to sing to the water. I would sing things like “you are my sunshine” and simple songs I would learn like “abc’s song” Now that I’m older I’ve learned about Sirens and Selkies and I’m more cautious when it comes to speaking to the ocean. I still love the ocean and lakes though! In fact I joined a local swim team where I live to become a better swimmer and yknow SWIM MORE!

In Fiji, there are stories of an island with golden sands and plentiful bounty populated by beautiful young women. Men who went off to fish would find rest on the island before moving on. Its said a truce was broken long ago and the island sank beneath the waves, only ever seen during severe weather. This playlist is what I imagine would be playing if someone ever made a movie about that island rising again.

I've been always in love with water. I first started swim lessons when I was 9 weeks old. Brining me to the sea (I live in an italian city near the sea) was the only thing that made me stop crying. In summer I've always liked to swim in the sea, and I still love going to the beach in September and June, when tourists aren't there yet and the water is warm anyway. Whenever I'm sad or frustrated I go to the sea. It's just... So calming. It feels like home. And now I'm doing sailing course, it's great! I recommend it to everyone!! The freedom that you feel when you're in the middle of the sea... And the beautiful water far from the beach... Mesmerising. When I was a little kid I wanted to be a mermaid, I always thought they were fascinating, with their unique voices... And now I'm starting to sing more, especially high notes (but it's so hard!) So yes, this playlist is amazing and I'm in love with these fantasy creatures and the ocean (in winter I do swimming course in 🇸🇲, in Summer sailing course and during the year I sing these persuasive melodies.

POV ur a siren ✨🌊 The water rushed past me, my tail splashing through the current. You’d think the pirates would learn, apparently not. With the last of our voices fading into the abyss, we rushed to the wrecked hull. After all, these ships usually have some treasures that are worth something somewhere. We need to make a living somehow, and we can be very persuasive when trading. The men that had jumped down from the ship were left to struggle and drown. They were the weakest, It’s the few left on the ship you had to watch out for. Some had earplugs, some bit their hands to get out of the trance, and some are not affected by most of our voices altogether. However, we have deeper voiced sirens for that. Nonetheless, most of those few pirates were toughened by years at sea and knew what to expect. The sea worn wood of the ship loomed in front of me. I swam under and clawed my way into the ship. The rotten wood crumbled under my nails. This room wasn’t so uncomfortable. A hammock swung to the left and there were other homely items strung about as if someone left in a hurry, someone probably did. Something glistened in the dark. A necklace. Her necklace. My brows furrowed and an animal-like growl escaped from my lips. I was gonna make whoever got this pay. We are gonna make whoever got this pay. I started to sing the song of our lost siren. The others picked up on this. She was the most trusting of us. If they had taken her, we are gonna know, and they are gonna pay. The melody of our loss and pain rained through the ship. Blood would be spilled tonight. (lmao that ending is so dramatic)

Some people want to get lost in the woods. And that’s fine for them. But I crave nothing more than to be lost to the sea. To walk into the waters and let the tide overtake me. To give myself to the sweet siren song of the waves and slip to the depths. To find peace and stillness. To find life and wildness. To the sea friends. To the sea. You’ll find me in the sea.

POV: you are looking though your great-grandfathers sailing pictures, he is in the same room as you, at age 102. He points at a picture of him looking towards the end of his sailing ship and says, "Oh that's were I met your grandmother Elina! She was lost and hanging on to a branch" He bends over and whispers into your ear; "psst...She was a beautiful siren, her song enchanted my ears, and I followed her down, down, down.. she shared her magic, got married and had your grandmother...such a shame that she disappeared after a day trip to the beach............" Later in the day you go to a supposed 'magical' river (according to the Greeks) because your mother wants to study mythology with her club. 'go do something" She tells you; "We'll be camping here as well, go in the lake or read the sign, you never know what you'll find!" She smiles as you walk over to a sign that says; Welcome to Iris lake! a few rules: **No dogs allowed **squatting in park prohibited **pick up after your trash! (there are trashcans) Have fun with these facts! - There are many Greek mythology stories and tales involving this lake, mentioned as a hangout with a temple (temple is open! pay 25$ for 1 entry) - according to the story's, people would give sacrifices to these creatures, sacrifices for luck, health and more! - The supposed 'sirens' would sing to unfaithful men to drown them, down under. "This is all crap, fake" You think to yourself as you pass a girl wearing a mermaid costume; "Mama I just saw a mermaid!" The little girl exclaims; as her mother denies every word. "Honey mermaids aren't real" She explains to her daughter, and noticing you staring; "I'm so sorry" she tells you. "It's fine" you say, walking to the river to jump in. Before you dive you notice that the water is sparkling more then usual. Thinking It's a trick of the light, you dive in. As your diving in, you notice your hands start to feel softer and flabbier, your legs start to conjoin, and your ears extend, you let go of your breath and notice you have sprouted gills on your face! Panicked, you swim deeper, and deeper. As you start swimming deeper, you hear a small singing voice, so beautiful as it was autotuned. You think "Maybe this is a dream, just a hoax, right?" You chuckle nervously, then pinch yourself. "Ow!" you exclaim. "Maybe this is real, then how do I get out of here then?" You hear the small voice again, start swimming deeper to follow it, until it sounds like it is very close. As it get louder and louder, you see a hand similar to yours reach out to you.......

Upon one summer's morning, I carefully did stray Down by the Walls of Wapping, where I met a sailor gay Conversing with a bouncing lass, who seemed to be in pain Saying William, when you go, I fear you will never return again My heart is pierced by Cupid I disdain all glittering gold There is nothing can console me But my jolly sailor bold His hair it hangs in ringlets, his eyes as black as coal My happiness attend him wherever he may go From Tower Hill to Blackwall, I'll wander, weep and moan All for my jolly sailor, until he sails home My heart is pierced by Cupid I disdain all glittering gold There is nothing can console me But my jolly sailor bold My name it is Maria, a merchant's daughter fair And I have left my parents and three thousand pounds a year Come all you pretty fair maids, whoever you may be Who love a jolly sailor that ploughs the raging sea While up aloft in storm, from me his absence mourn And firmly pray, arrive the day, he's never more to roam My heart is pierced by Cupid I disdain all glittering gold There is nothing can console me But my jolly sailor bold My heart is pierced by Cupid I disdain all glittering gold There is nothing can console me But my jolly sailor bold

I sat on a boulder, so cold singing a melody. My parents warned me of the grave dangers lurking on land, and sea. Still, I was mesmerized by the sailor's ships and their lives. One day I heard a man calling out for help, stranded near the shore. I turned my head towards the sound, I jumped into the water so blue, so deep water particles splashed into the air as my tail hit against the water. The man soon noticed me, raising his arm towards the rich blue sky. Suddenly, I remembered the words my father spoke to me "Don't trust those foolish humans, they will all but only cause you harm." I shook my head shrugging it off, I pulled myself up onto a boulder near the shore. I looked at him examining his features, humans looked foreign to us mermaids. He told me he had been hurt, I offered to heal his wounds on one condition. "You shall not speak of us to anyone," I warned using seaweed and my powers. When I finished I jumped into the cool water swimming back towards everyone. Little did I know, what I had done was a grave mistake. Soon after him and all his men made a plan to hunt us down for our powers. My father was taken away from me by humans, I shall never trust again.

They think we were born like this but little did they know we were the pirates that first heard of this treasure. Our thieving hands cursed our lives and made us what we are now. I only wanted to prove my father I could be a leader, I could be a captain of my own ship but he laughed. I then assembled my own crew and we set out to the sea in search for a treasure. We came here to the heart of the sirens home. We fought for the treasure but were taken into the sea and now we are stuck and we have a new duty. "protect the siren stone at all costs, because there is a war and we need to recruit more". These are our family's home. The only horrible parts are: I can't ever go home and I think my father came for the siren stone and I have to take him down and his crew.

A story! :3 TW: Derealization, technically s*icide (Siren magic), death You fall into a deep slumber in your bed, it feels like no time has passed but when you wake it’s unfamiliar but oddly nostalgic, a wave of dajavu hits you as you rub your eyes. Suddenly you realize you can’t hear anything familiar; the fan in your room, cars driving down the near empty streets. As soon as you notice your ears are flooded with the sound of crashing waves, startled you stand and walk out a door. The sound of panic is all you hear travelling up what looks like a boat, although you’ve never been there before it’s instinct as you find your way with ease. The fog is heavy on the water as you look over the rail, unable to hear anything aside from the waves and seeming other sailors panicking. Water splashes into your eyes and you blink hard, now you can hear it. A subtle melody sung from the fog. It’s passionate, it sounds like it could fulfill your wildest dreams. You’re drawn towards it. Your head feels cloudy, the same feeling you get when you’re meditating, or hypnotized. You smile as the once quiet song grows louder, encasing you. All you want in life is to keep listening, all you need. Searching the deck for the source of this mystical sound, but it starts to fade. Frantic you run to the edge of the ship and listen, just listen. But it fades and the outside noise grows. Desperate to only hear the song you dive into the rocky water. As you look around you see the bodies of your crew, dead around you. 10 of your closest friends, fallen to the same curse. As a last chance you try to swim, get your head above the water for a moment. But a wave crashes into you. Your eyes flicker open with heavy breath, who are you? You barely remember your name but you look outside to see a normally barren tree filled with 11 crows. One for each of your crew. And you. You remember a tale from another time, crows follow death. Suddenly you’re dragged back into the icy water. You feel your lungs fill with water as you’re dragged into a bottomless void.

reversing the roles female pirate and male siren, pov selene was clinging to her ship as tight as she could fearing for the ship to break. the fellow crewmates kind enough to let her be an equal pirate despite her womanhood praying to whatever higher power for mercy. at least her coat kept her warm. her jet black hair dripping with rain. a lightning bolt stuck. selene felt herself falling into the cold black sea. but a strange shadow instead of getting on with his natrual duty sparing the beautiful raider. he should be using his voice to kill her. not swimming her to land. selene woke up to a creature of legend somehow singing her to health. selene was paralazed at the discovery. a siren. snow white hair and jet black tail. and devilishlly handsome. the siren was ready to swim back to the ocean never to be seen again. but selene wanted to do something. 'thank you for saving me' the pirate said. the siren was quite flattered no one said thank you before. as selene explored the island the siren followed. selene knew he was stalking her but she just said their was nothing wrong with him tagging along. the siren intraduced himelf as daion. a siren of the end. he even swam her back to her crew. this was the beginning of a beautiful relationship

reading the comments brings out so many memories from when I was a child. now... its not just the same as before, now we have less time to spare going to the beach in summer and I dont personally have a pool, neither any of my friends, and it crushes my heart every year. When I was a child my family always called me a fish. Not even a mermaid. They called me a fish because I love eating any kind of fish dish, and I deeply love the ocean in any way. I love to swim and dive in small or large lakes and in the ocean. I was 24/7 in the water whenever we went to the beach, they had to force me to get out to eat and rest. Same with pools, whenever we went to the pool or some friend's house, if they had a pool I would spent all day inside diving and just... beign in the water. When we had to go I was always so sad it lasted for a few days. I remember one time when I just spent the entire day doing dives and I swear at some point it just got incredible easy to hold my breath, I remember beign inmersed for more than 2 minutes each time. I remember my heart slowing down, and just not needing to breath, without feeling any pain or restriction. I was just a kid Ive never been afraid of the open ocean or sea creatures, whatever kind it was. I have a deep respect for the open ocean but Ive always felt this attraction. I wanted to study marine biology but I couldn't because of were I live, And it makes me sad the fact that I dont have friends that like the beach, ocean or swimming as much as I do, even one of my friends cant swim so we cant do travels to lakes o even stay in the deep parts of the pools. It just kills my souls a little every year I cant spent that much time in the water in summer. I do the most I can when we are in a pool to spend a bit in the deppest part but it just isnt the same.

I love pirates and mystical creatures, also sirens too. For bts or kpop fans, that's a really good book I recommend! It's very popular too, but it is all about pirates and sirens! Great playlist, I love it so much ♡

I love this playlist. I always loved the ocean and when I was younger I always pretended I was a mermaid. What I also love is that my name means 'Child of light, daughter of the sea and pearl'.

their eyes reflected the wonders of the sea differently than mine. mine captured the depth and coldness of the sea, as well as its many treasures and precious creatures, while his sparkled in the sunlight, reflecting the shore and the intimate union between heaven and earth. i was mesmerized by how the sea could make way in our lives in such different ways, engulfing our whole beings. as i love them, i love the sea. (i used they/them but you may choose to use any which pronoun you prefer, ofc)

They floated above the water, waiting for a sailor to come so they could lure them to their death, sure some days they didn’t like it but other days, it was a way to get their anger out. Being the princess of a kingdom wasn’t always cut out to be perfect, with pressure from everyone including your parents to stay secret and do your job was pretty hard, somedays they just wanted to be a normal girl, sit on the shore and maybe look at sirens or watch them. They looked towads the shore, seeing someone on the shore, looking out into the ocean. Maybe they felt lonely and the ocean was helping them calm down. They went closer to them, feeling a calling towards them. They got ready to sing but stopped when they saw her face. She was pretty. Really pretty. And she was looking straight at them. If you see this, hope you liked it, inspired by this playlist

Fucking love this I went to the beach today and just waded in the water listening to this. Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar mermaid playlist or songs that has a more traditional/acoustic/folk sound??

I close my eyes as I sink further into the depths of the ocean. The stars, the moon sing, yet I cannot hear them any longer. My ship has wrecked upon the sharp and piercing coral reefs. All I have worked so hard for, the riches, the spices, the fabrics, gone - sunk to the bottom of the seas. Yet I feel no sadness, no anger, only contentment. How the men wailed and begged the sea to spare their pityful lives, how they wished to better themselves and become more honourable people, it didn't matter in the end. They all drowned before me and now I was the last to join them in their watery grave. These waters were cursed, first a storm blew us off course, and then clouds gathered above, making navigation by star chart impossible. The crew had complained about the dwindling rations, and it had almost come to an open rebellion. Luckily, the clouds slowly dissolved, giving the men hope again. But then, disaster struck again. The waters became dangerous, almost impossible to navigate. Ragged cliffs and shallow waters quickly dissolved crew morale and once again the men became hostile and mistrusting. They were speaking about sirens, they were adamant they had heard voices in the night singing songs about endless riches and endless peace. Luck is a fickle lady, and it seems she has lost her interest in us. Other men were telling stories about the sea, painting her as a dangerous mistress who claimed every soul sailing her domain. Year 1767, the 23rd of September, the 'Beata' sinks. I give in to the calling of the sea, letting loose of my plank of driftwood. The sea welcomes me with open arms and a kiss cold as ice. As I sink deeper I hear songs coming up from far below. My lungs can't hold my breath any longer and cold water fills them up as I breath in. Sleep overcomes me and the last thing I see, is something coming for me. The song grows stronger and a cold hand drags me down to my wine-dark grave. Beware these waters, sailors, or you too will get dragged down below! PS: English is not my first language, so criticism, if constructive, would be appreciated!☺️
