Angelina Jordan was 9 years old when this song was recorded. It was a tribute to Screamin Jay Hawkins who was quite a character. Most of the times he performed the song rising from a coffin in a voodoo style. Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong. Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down. Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan. Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions. At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. At the age of 9 she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. Proceeds from that book are donated to children charities. With little Miss Jordan it's quiet different, her versatility, her creativity, is so unic that it sets her in another league all together.. Try "song for A"...totally different and still beautiful. Some call her " the Cameleon". Others "Miss 1000 voices"...all this is true...I call her simply Angelina like we say Callas!

You don’t have to imagine where Angelina goes from there. She’s 15 now and has well over 100 songs you can listen to and watch. I’ve followed her for about five years. I thought immediately that she was the best child singer I’d ever heard, but after a couple years of watching Angelina cover so many genres so authentically and originally, I realized she is the best singer I’ve ever heard. Not a doubt in my mind. I don’t know what you like, but Angelina will stun you with her talent, voice, and musicality. Here’s a few suggestions: Bohemian Rhapsody for an amazing bluesy/jazzy performance that’s the best music video I’ve ever seen. Billie Jean (just released) for a completely original, sultry, jazzy version of another iconic song. A Million Years Ago (covering Adele) at 11 is just beautiful and shows how Angelina interprets lyrics like no one else. Million Miles is an original- Angelina’s heartfelt tribute to her grandfather. Angelina’s manager from the beginning is her uncle Michael Astar. From article of Music Norway interview we learn that Michael was raised in Japan and music was always his passion. After his family moved to Norway, Michael became a hip-hop DJ. As a 16-year old he was a DJ at 21+ night clubs in Oslo, Norway, getting the gigs because he looked older and no one asked his age before being hired. After getting tired of being a DJ, Michael started a music management company in 2013, and 3 months later, with no clients yet, Angelina signed-up to try out for Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina’s first audition when 7-years old was a cover of Billie Holiday’s song “Gloomy Sunday” that went viral when it got uploaded to KZfaq. Then Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent, had other viral KZfaqs, performed on Norway, US and other TV shows and her career started to take off. Eventually she had over 1 billion views of her performances on KZfaq and Facebook before Angelina’s appearances on the American’s Got Talent - The Champions show. Her performances there further accelerated her career. At this point, Angelina asked her uncle Michael if it was possible for her to move to the US to pursue her music dreams. She has sung so many songs it's hard to know which ones to suggest next. Fly Me To the Moon is a good choice, also Feeling Good, I'd Rather Go Blind, Stay, or go back to the beginning and dive into the Norway's Got Talent videos from when she was 7. They're all good.

Every cover Angelina does represents an homage to the original artist and to the music. She takes each song and in her special way communicates the essence of it to the listener. She has great range and flexibility in her voice but she doesn't use it just to impress, only to honor the music. She is truly a once in a lifetime artist.

Its hard to point out a song thats "better" than the other with her. Maybe Bohemian Rhapsody, it lured most of the latest addition to her Angels into that bottomless rabbithole of hers. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (135+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday , Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. You have yet to scratch the surface of this uniquely talented and supremely gifted young musical talent. Angelina has a catalogue of approximately 145 cover and original songs. She and her parents signed with Republic Records in November, 2020. She Turned fifteen years on January 10, 2021. Since you've listened to Diana singing Wicked Game you should try Angelina's version. Very haunting is the only way I can describe it. And yet it's my favorite. Angelina sings to your soul. No other way to describe it because there are very few artists I can think of that can do that. Always have tissues near by. Just sayin'. There are some videos of rehearsals Angelina has done that will give you a sense of how she interacts with the other musicians. Usually they pretty much ignore her at first, but her suggestions are always good, and once she starts singing she's impossible to ignore.

She did a demo for (IM STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU) It never released because of few lines in the end of the song. Honestly you can't go wrong with any one of her covers.

She was 9 here and she does her own arrangements. IMO The Greatest Performance ever from the Greatest of all Time. You should start with all 4 songs, in order, on Norway's Got Talent 2014 at 7 and 8 years old. Some reactors have done all 4 in 1 reaction and it works great because you see her improvement each time. You can throw in newer stuff like Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Road from AGT Champions 2020. Plus her recent original 7th Heaven. Only 135+ covers and 5 or 6 originals to choose from.

According to her, she began singing at the ripe age of 1 and a half years old. At about 4 or 5 years old, she began begging her parents, to let her try out for "Simon's show", as she put it. They finally relented, and allowed her to try out for Norway's Got Talent. As she has stated many times; She won Norway's Got Talent at 7 years old, with songs like "Summertime" and "Gloomy Sunday". At the end of the final, it was announced that she had garnered 46% of the vote total, with the other nine finalists combining for the remaining 54%. It wasn't even close. Angelina always performs barefoot, as a reminder of the millions of impoverished children in the world, This began one day, on the way to a performance. She found herself talking to a similarly aged little girl on the street, weighing people for bits of change, and noticed she was barefoot. She asked, and her mom explained the less fortunate. Moments later, Angelina gave her new little friend, the shoes she had been wearing, and they embraced. It's my understanding, that they still stay in touch. Angelina has already raised millions for various children's charities. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talk with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a Doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind the world that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

After a couple songs, one realizes that this child is a vocal prodigy. And then there comes a point when you realize that she is a musical genius (albeit, there are indications that she may be an unqualified genius). Her ability to interpret songs is along the lines of Janet Devlin but Angelina has another gear. I'll leave it to others to tell you more and some of them seem to be geniuses too. In fact, I may be the only non-genius who loves Angelina. You seem made for this but tell us more next time.
