So I'm just a 14 year old who writes songs from time to time and this backing track was dope so here I am... Please do excuse my lackluster English, it is far from my first language. Here goes nothing: *Love* Beautiful, is what I thought as she danced, her head high Dangerous, like a red rose but pricked with thorns Furious, like a comet burning through the night sky Uncanny, like the blossoming hope as they mourn I see her lurking in the shining of my mother’s eyes I feel her blossoming as I look up at my whole life I feel her tearing me apart, skin to bone But she’s the one I yearn whenever I feel alone I guess this wretched girl’s called love Criminal, is what I think when I see my parents I don’t know why I can’t see her when I’m looking at them Fading, is what she’s doing from past to present She’s still strong and there, but she’s just not the same I feel her firm rhythm on my father’s steady hands I see her lovely smile as I give up my seat for her I see her peeking as I’m laughing along with my friends And she’s always there whether it be near or far I guess this mercurial girl’s called love Beautiful and dangerous, Wise but preposterous She can heal you and break you at the same time I feel her shadow as the tears come rushing out I hear her whisper through my brother’s words I don’t want anything to do with her But I want her because I’m fragile like a house of cards She’s not a wicked girl nor is she a wise woman She’s just a feeling I’ve been trying to hide for way too long I guess this feeling is called love... As a singer of many many many years.. I'm showing my age.. after playing in a number of bands and still do, I have one piece of advice for anyone getting into writing lyrics. My advice is keep it simple, do not fall into the trap of over writing. Yes that is an actual thing, over writing lose the charm and simplicity of a good song. The average listener will only remember a chorus to a song. So let your feeling out, enjoy writing, enjoy singing just have fun with it. Don't over think it. Let it flow out of you. When I broke up with him, he said all these things like “oh you’re not happy without me” and for the longest time I believed him. But then this other guys came along, and he was the sweetest thing and he made me realized that wasn’t a good relationship. We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary with this song!!!
