songwriting HACK (always write a song)

I can always write a song...that doesn't mean I can always write an amazing song but I can always write songs. The essential thing that all songwriters need to have is...experience. You only gain experience by writing and this method I often use will help you to always be able to write something even when inspiration hasn't hit. When inspiration does hit...be ready for it...master the craft. Don't be one of those songwriters that tells everyone they're a songwriter but has never written a song...come on...I have faith in you...write a song.

I've definitely written songs inspired from other songs before. And they're some of my best songs! Not a bad method.

I know what you mean, I have always struggled with lyrics. That’s why I like exercises like this, it takes the pressure off of trying to write something meaningful and deep and poetic and lets you just have fun and enjoy writing a song.
