Sonic 06 was a glitchy mess, with a terrible physics engine that crippled it. BUT! It had the framework, direction, and design to be a good game. It's bad, but when it works, it REALLY works. Sonic Boom is the opposite. It's functional, but it's clear it was boring and awful even without the glitches.

what are you talking about? 06 was not stable, it was a broken ness and not one bit of the game was humorous especially to someone who grew up the original sonic titles when they first came out. Don't get me wrong though I'm in no way defending Sonic Boom, I believe Sonic games should have been left alone after Sonic on the Dreamcast, that was the last decent sonic game made. It's a shame that they've been allowed to destroy something that soo many of us cherished as children. They've treated Sonic as a whore, a dirty nasty whore.

Honestly, I think sonic 06 had so much potential. Silver and shadows stories were pretty perfect. Music and cutscenes were great. But the gameplay was horrid, Elise shouldn't of been introduced, and sonics story should've been tweaked. Instead of Elise they should've just had another scepter which contains iblis like the one that contained mephilis, and it should've been egg mans goal to find that instead of capturing Elise

I'm not defending the overall game and Knuckles does look ridiculous in Boom. But except for him I really liked the new character designed. I was actually excited for and planning to get Boom: Rise of Lyric until I saw the atrocious reviews. I ended up digging Lost World out of a bargain bin instead.

C'mon what do People have against Forces?! YEAH! There we're only 3 Level Designers YEAH! it is short YEAH! They had 4 years to develop the game AND YEAH! Izuka (Director) booked vacation for several Months and took the half of the Team with him, One of the Developers worked on Sonic Lost World, which is a pretty solid Sonic title and the other ones had ZERO experience with Sonic Games.

Sonic 06 is frustrating and convoluted, while Sonic Boom is boring and bleak. 06 tries to hard to be "serious" and Boom tries too hard to be "cartoonish". Both are broken. Pick your poison.

Those came out BEFORE Sonic Boom happened. They were an attempt to revive the franchise and in some way they managed to keep the dream alive. Until Sonic Boom came along and stomped those dreams into the ground and broke Sonic's neck once and for all.

06's positives: Villain is terrifying. Silver is relatable. They tried to implement a use for rings. it's fun to break the game with dumb glitches. Soundtrack. Lore (Blaze is definitely an imaginary friend.) Variety. Excuse to save the timeline (Until Generations. I know he's coming back someday.) Boom's positives: What positives?

I don't really agree. sonic 06 blends the exaggerated and over the top aesthetics from sonic into sort of a real world setting. It's completely all over the place and doesn't work in any scenario we're presented in the game. Sonic boom at least has consistency with it's art and to the games credit, the cutscenes and character animations are actually very good. The characters are very expressive (perhaps to a fault.) and their dialogue sounds pretty much how you'd expect it to. The voice acting is pretty high quality, though the lines themselves aren't very good. both are bad though

If there's one thing I can say about 06, it's that I enjoyed the concept of three different story arcs with different characters. Now, if only they could do it decently. (Excluding Forces and Generations, mostly because the's multiple characters but one storyline.)

If there is one thing Sonic 06 have over Boom; it was heart. Sure it was a battered, bruised and misguided heart but it had a heart none the less. Also, ambition but that was also pretty battered and bruised as well.

I’ve never played Sonic Boom, but I did play 06. I can safely say this: Sonic 06 has a much larger impact on the series than Rise of Lyric did simply because this game started the “dark age of Sonic.” Rise of Lyric was followed up in some time by Sonic Mania which I love to death, so I think it’s safe to say 06 had a larger impact.

I remember it as well. I thought it was good but I heard it got some bad reviews. my biggest memory of it was when me and my friend were going to trade system copies to try to help each other out in finishing the game 100% but he had a problem and that never happened so I still don't know what happens in the perfect story. also I thought the song they made for it was amazing

After 06 was Secret Rings. If you look at it right, it was fun for a while. Thenwas Sonic Unleashed. Unleashed is one of those Sonic games that was fantastic when it came out, but magically became below average in the fans eyes (same with the Adventure games and Heroes, I'm not sure why the fans just change their minds all willy nilly). The replayablility in Unleashed is HUGE, and it also takes a while to clear, keeping you coming back. Then was Black Knight. I think we can just leave that alone. Then was the absolutely amazing Sonic Colours. Then we got the even more amazing Sonic Generations. Then we got the really fun Sonic and All Starts Racing: Transformed. Then we got the (also suddenly hated) great Sonic Lost World. Really, after Sonic 06, there wasn't a bad major Sonic game for 8 solid years. After Sonic Boom was the unfortunately closed down but still great Sonic Runners. The only reason Sonic is 'picking himself back up' is because the fans are spontaneously hating on him when there's no reason to be. Project Sonic: 2017 and Sonic Mania are looking to be two friggin masterpieces... only if the fanbase lets them be.

Edge's Dragon Unleashed has been grtting back in the limelight since Sonic Forces got its gameplay. We all started to realise that the Hedgehog levels in Unleashed were actually great since Forces is reworking the boost system. Sure the Adventure games are showing they're age, but it's the fact that they're as old as they are that makes it so remarkable that they're as good as they were for their days. I like your input. I don't think I've met many Sonic fans that aren't completely blind to Unleashed's greatness.

The biggest problem with Sonic '06 is its ambition. The creators tried to take on this huge idea, but it was more than they were capable of. What's worse is they continue to do the same, and don't learn from their mistakes. The only way we'll see a good Sonic game is if they make something they're capable of doing.

Agreed. I loved Sonic '06 much more than Sonic Boom. I actually love the storyline, the characters (even Elise... don't judge me), and the music. :) Sadly, this cannot be said with Sonic Boom. That game, both the ones for the Wii U and the 3DS was a mess. :(

I have to agree as well, due to being a fan of the likes of the Fire Emblem, Ace Attorney, and Mother franchises, I've been used to somewhat confusing situations (parent-child relations in FE, cross-examining animals in AA, Claus disappearing in Mother 3...) or timelines (the FE timeline(s) in general, where the heck are Investigations and its sequel on the AA timeline, how does Mother 3 relate to EarthBound timeline-wise...)

The real problem is the people. You people overlook everything. Sonic 06 was unique, not really a sonic game we've ever played before. Boom was boring, nothing exciting really happened. Elise was annoying, yes, but that's the only real problem people have. Get over it. The glitches in the game are really only encountered if you purposely try to find them. if you play casually, you should be fine. Stop shoehorning reasons to hate the game.

I think the real reason why the relationship of Sonic and Elise gets so much hate is not because of the fact it's where a hedgehog is in a relationship with a human. It's because of how they interact with each other. Their interactions may make players feel uncomfortable, but they clearly care about each other. Sonic does whatever he can to rescue Elise and keep her out of harm's way. Elise may be a run-of-the-mill damsel in distress, but that does not make her a bad person. She cares about her country and returns the favor to Sonic for his care for her by kissing him to bring him back to life as Super Sonic. I know people are not crazy about that kiss, but you got to give it credit for saving Sonic.

+Samir Malik In reality Sonic hasn't had as many awful games as people like to say. Really the only bad ones I can think of are the two in this video, Shadow the Hedgehog (guilty pleasure), Sonic and the Secret Rings (guilty pleasure), Sonic Free Riders, and Sonic Labyrinth. Most have ranged from average to being really good.

Look at it this way, Sonic 06's ending made it so that the game never happened, while Sonic Boom is just there.

I'm probably gonna be yelled at by Sonic fans but I feel like Sonic 06 deserves a 2nd chance by getting a remake with. -Instead of having Princess Elise as a love interest, just have her there for the plot and that's it. -Some rewrites and fixes of the 3 stories. -Fix the bugs and glitches -Fix the awful gameplay and controls -Rewright the characters so they actually FEEL like Sonic characters. and -Give Eggman a redesign because he looks off.

Elise shouldn't be completely erased from the story, just don't have the entire story resolve around romance between her and Sonic. Also they should make her more interesting. Also the gameplay was mostly good in the original 06 when it WORKED, it just needed tweaking with certain characters.
