Yeah, It was implemented because Knuckles was extremely slow underwater, so they had to do something to fix the pace

What if you should have to find Knuckles in every level, and that's a secret entrance to a bonus level mode, where Knuckles explores the same level but can glide and noclip through everything. There it becomes a Tempest clone like sonic 2 bonus levels, except good, where you have to find emeralds in the negative space of the actual Sonic level, "digging" through the walls. As a bit of reward for exploring you get to explore in something like a debug mode.

Long time no see sonic central. I honestly haven't seen a video from this channel in months now. I used to comment on every single video you made. Now I'm just haven't been doing what I used to love. Sonic 3 A.I.R is free itself, but to play it you need a room of Sonic 3 & K, and the only way to get that legally would be to buy Sonic 3 & K on steam.

So basically Sonic 3 but if it were what SEGA had in mind when starting to work on this game (those who don’t know, SEGA actually wanted to make this a 3D game, sorta like 3D Blast, but they opted in making it another 2D game)

Something similar of what happened with smb 3, Shigeru Miyamoto and his team wanted to make that game as an isometric view game, but due to nes limitations, the game ended being another 2d platformer game.

This artstyle should have been the norm for 3d Sonic games. I played the hell outta sonic adventure as a kid but looking back trying to fit Sonic into a realistic environment is like jellybeans on a pizza.

For Classic Sonic, yes, but with Modern Sonic I think they need to make a mix of realistic and surreal to fit him into a world. Like trying to mix Classic Sonic’s art style with Modern Sonic’s design is disastrous, I mean just look at Sonic Lost World’s design I swear Modern Sonic doesn’t look like he fits into that environment at all. Even in the Advance games and Heroes the environments are more realistic while still being surreal to fit with the Modern Sonic design philosophy. If they change back to Classic Sonic being the primary Sonic then of course they should have art style closer to this but if they keep using Modern Sonic they should have balance of realistic and surreal since his design was built off those principles( and also the first game he appeared in had those principles in the world design too like Windy Valley, Casinoplis, and Red Mountain etc).

Maybe it's just me but during Hydrocity Zone Act 2 as the level went on it started to look like parts of DSZ and APZ were being used for some puzzles and gimmicks. I don't find this bad, just noting it.

Not really, this is the S3nK Hidden Palace Zone theme not the STH2 theme.

Oooo if only the hydrocity zones walls weren’t just closed off by brick walls at the start, but an infinite background with an invisible barrier so you couldn’t go out of bounds like there is at the end of this map. Would’ve been sick. But this is still amazing too

Waaait *_3D models in the doom engine how?_* Well, i guess Brutal Minecraft did that before, still, very odd to see fully 3D models in the doom engine Also, i think they need to find a better way to implement the background from S3&K into a 3D space, cause it doesn't quite feel like Hydrocity when all you see is small corridor after small corridor The background made the 2D game feel bigger than it actually was

If Sega actually released a console that could handle 3D then this would’ve probably came out in 1996, probably wouldn’t have much draw distance but it would probably function unlike if this game was on the Saturn.

The Hydrocity ruins seems very claustrophobic and very squarish, too many tunnels. Wish it had open spaces, columns and bridges like in 2D

I'm sorry, but this fight with Knuckles was harder and more interesting in earlier version of this map, knuckles had like super mode for last 4 hits, he could punch the ground to cause rocks fall from the ceiling, and he spindashed and glyded through whole room, not like here. Bruh, what happened with it?
