The final boss in that game has always been my favorite thing from Sega, I couldn't even begin to geuss how many times I beat that boss or the hours of playing sonic and knuckles on the Sega genesis.

Being like 10 or 11 playing this game and having Super Sonic re-enter the atmosphere with the master emerald in tow was so epic! Imagine if the scene is adapted at the end of a future live action sonic film? I would hope they pull out all the stops on the CGI.

Another sprite animator (patafoin) has done a livestream of animating blue spheres before and its really difficult. every single sphere has to be moved individually and its just more work than its worth so i didn't bother 😅
