I like how it sounds like the map version of Ocean Base.

Past; Picture this, an ancient underwater observatory used by old ones of an bygone era, some say they fled here after an unknown cataclysm struck earth, instead of Badniks lurking the weirdly high-tech ruins, instead strange yet decrepit automatons roam the underwater base. Murals on the walls depict creatures of fluid, maybe the creators of these rustic specimens lurking in the dark? Or maybe they pre-date even the God of Destruction from the floating island in the sky, hm? (Btw, glad to see you're still doing this even after all these years, thanks man for these cool tunes.)

Combining the Map version with Tidal Tempest Past was the right call.

P: A beautiful 🪸 reef sits where Robotnik's Secret Underwater Base is to be built. It's teaming with all kinds of beautiful aquatic life. Unfortunately though there's a less beautiful sight defiling this veritable underwater Garden of Eden; A bunch of Badniks and their construction equipment trying to bulldoze everything they see. Looks like Sonic's about to get himself into a wetsuit and into the deconstruction game to make sure this 🪸 reef doesn't go belly up.

This is neat, I always wanted to see Classic Sonic in a Sonic Advance trilogy zone. He’s been traveling to different places since the first game so surely Sonic has been to a couple of zones and stages from later Sonic games as early as the Classic Era right? There’s no way some of the places he’s been to in later Sonic games was his first time right? Especially since the Two worlds concept is no longer a thing in Sonic games

Ocean Base(Past)-Riptide Rig: Well, turns out that in the past, the base was less of a base and more of a tightly packed floating rig with a couple underwater sections that Eggman had just started to expand upon. Those sections show that Ocean Base Zone was built on top of a mostly sanddredged coral reef, with its bleached remains appearing on the ocean floor. In any case, you should try to find that generator before Eggman gets to the rest of the high seas..

It is relaxing and it is beautiful

It turns out Ocean Base was not Eggman's idea, he just decided it would be useful. The level design is tamer overall (I never liked Advance 3's level design) and more straightforward. (this affects the present as well). There are still robots around, as this is the beginning of the takeover. This place was originally a research station, so the underwater sections are now aquariums. Spikes and cannons have not been installed yet.

tidal tempest

I'm not familiar with Sonic Advanced 3 but I like this. Sounds good. Obviously there is Tidal Tempest Past mixed in.

It’s funny you did this, for the longest time I was thinking that the map themes from Sonic Advance 3 would work perfectly as past themes. Now i’m itching for Route 99 and Toy Kingdom!

Ocean Base is far from a base in the past, more of a small structure in the middle of the ocean. Sharks and other dangerous fish are a big danger here as the whole structure is submerged with small air pockets dotted about so Sonic better stay on his toes! Just for those who played Advance 3 before, the crushing barrels were not invented yet, which is a huge relief.
