Remember when Sonic could feel things, like when Angel Island was on fire. You could see how sad he was, even when he was confused. and when he found out Tikal was just sealing him in the emerald he said "How can that help? It won't change how he feels inside, will it? His heart will still remain in turmoil... and his anger just won't vanish. He'll just be trapped forever!". And near the end of the game. You can tell Sonic was confused if he was going to win or lose. But in the SONG it literally says "I will never give up the fight!" *It doesn't MATTER* If Sonic wins or loses because he will *Never Give Up.* But SEGA now only wants Sonic to be "Cool" He was cool back then, because he wasn't *TRYING* To be Cool, and he was Cool because he fought for what he believed in when he wasn't sure about the situation. Ryan gave this Energy that showed Sonic can be Cocky, and that's a fact. But he also showed how Sonic could be sad from time to time, and you can clearly see Emi Knew this fact, and made the song better than what it could've been if she just looked at a lyric sheet and just sang it normally. She put her Emotion into it like the Story Board artists did when they tried to make Sonic feel things. TL;DR This song is amazing and shows the feelings Sonic Used to Have.

iirc I think sonic team has to follow a mandate from sega, and one of them says that sonic and the rest of the characters can't show strong emotions/feelings

@@justbny9278 Yep. And it happened all because of Ken Penders, who worked on the Archie comics. He sued Sega back in like 2007-8 over his "characters being too similar in the ones in Sonic Chronicles" and won, and now we have these mandates. He was one of the reasons this franchise went to hell. Fuck him.

SA1: the emotional turmoil constantly going on in Sonic's head, knowing he must always be the hero, always be the fastest, always this and always that, and the weight of his responsibility is given much extra emphases by the slower pace of the song, because the theme of the song itself is much more emotional than your average action packed Sonic song. SA2: RADICUL TURBUBLENT 90's FRICCEN ACTION PAKED STUF OR SOMTHIG!!!!!!!1! Oh and emotions or something but HEK FRIKEN YEH I'M SNOC SON, DUH-HUH.

Sonic is very care-free at heart, SA2's Sonic theme focused more on one part of Sonic compared to SA1, which reflects the speed stage gameplay in SA2 compared to every mainline game before it. (EDIT: If it wasn't clear, I do I think it was a good decision, even if I prefer SA1's song.)

Why isn't whenever a single Sonic video is made, people always have to come out and insult every other game in the series? It's fine to have preferences, but it's a bit ridiculous that not even Sonic Adventure fans can agree that both games are good. I prefer Sonic Adventure 2, but that doesn't mean I shit on SA1 completely unprompted. Also, in regards to this song, it was remade by the same person who did the SA1 version, so no, it wasn't SEGA or some other artist that 'made it worse' as some people seem to think, the original artist decided to make it that way. And that version is equally great, for different reasons.

@@st.6413 Honestly, couldn't agree more, with the perspective I have nowadays. I don't know what I was going on about 2 years ago, although I still prefer the SA1 version over SA2's. I was too deep in that "obnoxious Sonic fan" type world back then, at least looking back at it. In short, you're darn right, man.
