Thank you for trying out my game. it's still an alpha/prototype so there's a lot of things that's still needed to be put together before i actually start making real stages. i've taken your comments to consideration for future updates.

I suppose the transition would've been cooler if after the "pencil and paper" tutorial, someone comes in with a paintbrush or crayons and starts colouring Sonic and the environment to make the levels afterward. However, I can agree that the levels still need a bit of work - what bugs me the most is the different art style in Carnival Speedway and how it clashes with Sonic's psuedo-hand-drawn design. Speaking of which, I really like this game's art style. When development gets far enough, I'd like to see if they could add a midboss at the end of one of the levels animated in this style. In fact, I reckon a classic-style Eggman machine would look really cool drawn and animated in this style. Maybe I'm getting a little sidetracked, but all in all this is slowly shaping up to be something good.

I mean, it would be good if everything had a crayon-like coloring and artwork, backgrounds, enemies, platforms, like a kid's coloring book

I think Sonic and the enemies and stuff should stay in that Toi aesthetic, but the backgrounds should be a watercolor or pastel style

@@steveburnside5395 I like how everyone else has a legitimate constructive criticism and then you swing in like a dumbass calling everyone an autist. Looks like someone just hit 14 and learned how to be edgy. But no, you're still incorrect. The dramatic trudging animation while just walking looks awkward as shit. No one walks like that at that slow a speed. And yeah, unrealistically fast makes sense. His running animation looks way faster than his actual top speed and it looks pretty bad.

If you really like that sort of thing, I suggest also following the game "Sonic Freedom" by tripplejaz. Most of the info about it is on his Twitter.

I think he should keep the tutorial level in it's style then keep the rest with the first zone

Yep, ditch the carnival pixel art level and replace it with a completely hand drawn zone instead. Not really many fan games with the hand drawn style so it definitely helps it stand out.

Yep. The Sonux character model is cool. The environments need to be brought up to par. 1st level was the best stylistic one. Cuphead-like. But the whole game shouldn't look like that one IMO.

It's not even tysons design, it's known as toei sonic but i agree this should definitely be done more.

The music is from Phantasy Star Online Episode 2, which makes sense considering Seabed is an area from that game.

I thought that, too. I really don't think this is the GREATEST looking sonic game. far from it. it just has a nice sprite animation and they have captured the right conic platformer feel. but that's it. Sonic and knuckles anyone?? That game looked incredible.

The Seabed is the last level in Phantasy Star Online Episode 2. That's where it came from. Even the enemies are the same.

@@HistoryandReviews What games have you played? Because Sonic has always felt fast. Sonic the hedgehog 2 chemical plant zone was fast asf, Sonic the hedgehog 3 was also fast asf, hell even the 3D adventure games felt fast if you knew how to use the spin dash properly

It really just depends on how well you play the level for most Sonic games. There’s a sense of speed in Sonic Mania especially if you’ve played Time Trials and gotten Mirage Saloon Act 2 done in about 45 seconds.

@Pizza Passta really because I mostly saw jumping and jumping like a Mario game. Speed is a reward that you earn but with this game it just seems to be more platforming than speed
